  1. With coilovers you can get away with about 5.0" of backspacing using 4 lug hubs. If you are converting to 5 lug up with z31 hubs, you can run 5.75" backspacing up front and 5.0" in the back with drilled stub axels. These are maximum values for backspacing. You may want to run spacers to bring the wheel out towards the fender to make it look better. Here is a chart showing backspacing verses wheel width and offset:
  2. Well i got my money back. Life goes on.
  3. Just got this e-mail from the seller. Really pisses me off. "Sorry, the other guy I turned down gave me an additional $500 over my asking price at around 11:30 past our agreed time. Sorry, first one with the money gets the car and we agreed you would pay full by this morning. I can return your deposit this evening or you can pick it up today."
  4. ♥♥♥♥, well I called to talk to the guy and arrang to give him the remander of the money today. He sold the car to this other guy from eugene this morning even though I gave him a $500 deposit last night. I'm bummed out. I have to go get the deposit from the guy tonight after work. Justin
  5. Put the deposit down. I'm excited. I'm going to pick it up tonight. Justin
  6. Well I went and took a look at it. No rust in the floor boards or the original frame rails. I'm going to go put a deposit down tonight and then picking it up tomorrow. I'm excited. Justin
  7. Well I talked to the guy on the phone tonight. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow after work. Sounds like a pretty straight car and it runs, so I could limp it home. Justin
  8. I'm going to check it out tonight. I'll let you guys know. Justin
  9. I found a 240z I'm going to look at. Just wondering what you guys think from the description? Rust free frame rails, floor boards and hatch area. The car overheated and burns oil now. $1800 72 240z L28 with flat tops and triple weber carbs 5spd R200 Toyota 4X4 calipers
  10. Anyone ever get one of these installed? I'm looking at buying one shortly. Justin
  11. So if I go the JSK route, which calipers should I buy? Model? Piston size? Are there any better calipers then the wilwoods that use the same 3.5" bolt space? I'm planning on going to a double master cylinder setup for the brakes. Regards, Justin
  12. Since both kits use essentially the same calipers, I'd say follow Arizona Z car brakes advice and install a 280zx master.
  13. Which brake kit do you guys prefer? I'm looking at upgrading my front brakes to a 12.2" X 1.25" vented setup. What model wilwood caliper does the Arizona Z car brake kit use? I like the helicoil inserts in the JSK rotor hats. The prices are very similar and I was curious what you guys thought was the superior kit? http://www.autobrakeworks.com/datsun.htm http://www.arizonazcar.com/brake.html Regards, Justin
  14. I bought a EZ Wiring 12 circuit mini harness. Once it gets here I'll be rewiring the car at nights after work. $140 shipped off of ebay. http://www.ezwiring.com/ I have also contacted a local cage fabricator to bend up my main roll hoop out of 1.625" X 0.120" DOM tubing. http://www.racetechmotorsports.com I used this drawing from 74_5.0L_Z's photo album.:
  15. Well, I'll expand on this a bit later. When I first bought the car for $700 its wasn't running, but had a factory rebuilt l28 with 5k miles on it. A couple of electrical issues and it was running: Then I took the front bumper off, waxed the paint and got a free urethane bumper from my dads friend: I then proceeded to rearend a new dodge durango going 5mph: After getting ahold of Ron Tyler and BRAAAP, I had a new hood for $25. Painted it flat black and this is how she looks today: I haven't driven the car since July of 2006. I finally have the money again to drive and pay for my other expenses. Its time to take care of some maintenance to make her reliable for daily use. I just brought the car over to my current house so I can work on it over the next month. Its not the most amazing thing yet, but atleast this will document the progress I make. Car Pulls to the right under braking. I'll probably upgrade the brakes at this point. 16. A bit more playing around in the model. I'm going to need to start over with the hoop tilted back about 10 degrees.
  17. Well, more weight distribution towards the rear will improve braking performance. Look at all of the mid engine supercars. They dont have 50/50 weight distrubtion. They use wider tires in the rear to compensate for the weight bias to the rear. Ferrari F50: 42/58 weight distribution Front Tires: 245/35ZR-18 Rear Tires: 335/30ZR-18 Justin
  18. A local Supra guy just tuned his car on E85 + a little meth injection on a STOCK long block 2jzgte w/ a gt4276:
  19. I realize the main diagonal isn't all in the same plane as the main hoop. This is for a semi street car, hence the lack of a halo bar or A pillar bars. Heres a picture of a RX7 that gave me the idea on the diagonal bar:
  20. Started modeling a cage in solidworks today on my lunch hour. The frame rails in the picture are supposed to represent the 240z door rails. I'll work on this model some more as I have time at work tomorrow. Regards, Justin
  21. For 800hp, straight meth isn't needed. The problem with straight methanol is mainly in the oiling department. You will need to add some top end lub as well as change the oil every event. Your fuel system will also need to have all of the aluminum conponents hard annodized. The fuel pump that you are going to have to run will cost $600-1000 (Weldon, Magnafuel, ect). Personally I would start out on gas and go from there. Justin
  22. The 03 Cobras did have staggered widths front to rear. 9" fronts 10.5" rears. Heres a picture of Cyrus Car. He's running cobra 9" wide wheels all around. Justin
  23. Looks really nice. Chromoly is nice for the weight saving! Is there a joint where the door bar attachs to the main hoop? Do you just unbolt the plate on the floor and unpin the door bar to get it out for the street? Justin
