  1. If I can't get a 300zx ECU for the right price, I would be interested in knowing how to hook up the 300zx MAF to the stnd 280zx ECU. If I had a 280ZX ecu pinout, and a stnd AFM I would prolly suss it out. Unfortunately I have neither. Does anyone have an ECU pinout and recordings of the AFM outputreadings etc Cheers
  2. Yeah, I thought about having an elbow pipe....but thats a little bit too much hassle for a cold start valve. I've seen plenty of pics of engines with the cold start valve completely gone, so Im sure raising it a bit (if it does clear...never thought about that) wouldn't worry it too much.
  3. I ripped the TB of the L28 intake manifold and noticed that the cold start valve is sticking down about an inch into the air path. This can't be good for air flow I'm assuming. Is it possible to re-locate this somewhere else to improve airflow. Or even use a spacer and raise it up a bit so it isnt sticking so far down. Cheers
  4. Sounds interesting. For the NA, what year Z31 does the ECU have to come from, or does it not matter? Other than the MAF and ECU, what other parts are needed from the Z31 if its to work on a 280zx engine?
  5. Like Tony D said, tetsu owns that car. He owns the biggest Z shop in japan caled "Ultimate". Its one of his "show" cars, as is the 300zx beside it. I saw it at the 2001 Z festa in Japan, and it took to the autocross like a demon. Definately goes hard
  6. I've seen both the Yellow Z32 and Red Z31 in person and they are wiked wiked cars
  7. There are no Zeds in Initial D. Its Wangan Midnight.
  8. Hi all, I've got some really ricey sideskirts on my 260z(no, I didnt put them on), and Im trying to take them off. I undo the screws, but the skirts is held on by black sealant/sticking(im sure thats not the correct term) and if I try to just pull it off the sideskirt will crack. I dont want to ruin it as I would like to sell it, how can I get it off?? Cheers
  9. Rocco's performance (in Sydney) actually did most of the work on the car. Glad to hear you've got plans for a 1JZ I still cop hell from my zed buddies about doing the transplant...but its gonna be worth it in the end
  10. Cant remember. I think that he operates under the company name SIXWORKS (I think..), just post on the Technical section and someone will help you out. Ray
  11. You need to get a unit which boosts/changes the signal. PS. Simon, I see your in Australia. There is a guy on http://www.toymods.org.au that makes a unit.
  12. Im not expert on the 1JZVVTi, but I think that one of the main obstacles is the wiring. From what I hear it is a bit more complex than the normal 1JZ. I have a 1JZ sitting in my garage that I am putting in my 260Z. Due to lack of funds and time though, the furthurst I've gotten with the project is pulling the L28 out and putting a new harness on the 1JZ Hopefully in a month or so I should be able to get stuck into it. PhilUK, try http://www.toymods.org.au they have the most knowledgable ppl (who speak english anyway) in regards to 1JZ and toyo motors in general. btw Phil...your engine mounts....I would love to get some pics of them I talked to rocco's some time ago, but they couldnt make me a set, (my car is in Qld, they are in NSW), so pics of your mounts would really help my project along Cheers!
  13. Not sure about the zed in an option mag that you are referring to. I meant the one that was for sale on Ebay quite some time ago, I believe it was you (or possibly someone else) who sent me pictures of it. It had a 2JZ in it. Just cant remember the box that it ran.
  14. What was 'Zupra' running? For RHD cars I dont think there would be too many problems with fitting a 2JZ, my 1JZ will fit without too many hassles, but as you say the turbos would provide the most problems
  15. I havent read it complete in a long time....since it was published. Anything will fit if you have enough money.
  16. Why wont the 6spd fit? Is it too big for the 240z tunnel? I've got an Auto 260z and IIRC the tunnel is a little bigger in them...
  17. Yeah? Thats a good price. I'd love to buy an RB26DETT powered 200ZR sometime, they look great and would go like shit out of a slingshot
  18. above post is mine...forgot to log-in
  19. Opps, my bad. 300zr only came in non-turbo. All a bit baffling really... The 200ZR isnt very fast really, If you were doing one, I would at least put the newer RB20DET in. Bonnet scoop was different as well, but its not hard to get one.
  20. What does this have to do with 300ZR or 200ZR ? 200ZR came with an RB20DET and a 300ZR came with VG30ET.....but they are still different than a 300zx...
  21. How much do you guys have to pay for RB20DET in the states? They seem like a good little engine. I have been in a Skyline powered RB20 as well as a 200ZR powered RB20....and these things would do well in a Zed. They seem to be the middle ground between an L28ET and a Hi-Po engine (aka RB26, 1JZ/2JZ).
  22. Actually, a W58 from a 2JZGE WILL fit onto a 1JZ. I know of someone that has done it. You will need the clutch fork on the passengers (drivers for the US) side anyway, so chances are you will need to have a custom bellhousing. There are places in australia, that can sell you the whole conversion kit to fit a W58 up to a 1JZ (of course you wouldnt need this if you got the box/bellhousing from the 2JZ, but the W58 came on many different engines)
  23. 1JZ bellhousings are pretty scarce here as well. Although I think there may be a company that make them up...
  24. hmmm...I thought JZ bellhousings were interchangalbe as well, opps.
  25. Could you elaborate more on this? Why would a larger displacement engine get less power? Is the RB26 running higher compression? I'm considering a RB26 conversion, and the VG30DETT seems like a good option as well, and it seems strange that a smaller engine would make more power at the same boost levels. Its not odd at all. Otherwise we would all be sticking with our L28ET and not worrying about an RB/JZ etc Its a completely different motor. Its just asking why the old 1.5L(?) F1 engines made 1400bhp and the RB26 only does 280... You cant compare them. VG and RB are not related at all.
