  1. Do you think you could post some pics of your radiator/fan setup? I would ditch your current fan setup. Do you remember what your current brand is for your electric fan? I did the taurus fan upgrade, and even on low, it rarely creeps up to the middle of the guage and only comes on everyonce in a while.
  2. 1. Taking a cross country trip? Geo Metro, how else could I afford the gas... 2. Arriving at a local hot spot (club, reunion, etc) If its hot, Ill need some ice cream... 3. Blasting down the autobahn. Ive done that before, you will need the aerodynamics to maintain a good speed. 4. Crusing the local strip. Gotta show off that old school bling bling 5. Tour of Italy, might need a boat for those romantic tours...Mama Mia! 6. Daily driver, good on gas, but have a hard time fitting the kids in... 7. SUV, Its easier to cut through traffic when the people are diving off the road left and right for their lives... 8. Any other favorite and why Just because I am cool enough to get away with it... Looks good, drives good, and tastes good....
  3. If you unplug that second pigtail from the TPS, the OD no longer works on your car. That is what I found out when I plugged my donor TPS from a manual in my car. The OD switch has no power nor did it light when depressing the button.
  4. For all those who didnt care for the spoiler, its off the car now. I do want people to realize that I didnt pay for it nor did I install it. It came with the car. I used clear silicone to cover the holes till I can get the factory spoiler. Just wanted to pass it along. One thing positive out of the whole removal process is my rear hatch now unlocks when you pull the lever, I guess the spoiler was too heavy.
  5. Bluto2ooo has one sitting in his garage. He had it on ebay but I dont know if he got rid of it.
  6. wow, then its been down for days then, I havent seen it since like monday or maybe tuesday.
  7. Sadly, if I had the money to pick up the factory spoiler, I would take it off, but right now, its bolted through the lid, so I would rather leave it until then. I think it would look better if I had the missing stainless steel splitters that screw into the sides, but hey, I bought the car for $600 and it runs. Some people like it some dont, I know. Right now I would rather fix my ttop leak then replace the spoiler.
  8. Just wondering, but do they not sell any cars in Australia with hood scoops? I see your point but I dont think its the definitive answer. There are 2 different styles of hood scoops for cars. Some in the front, some in the back. So based on what you have said, Ford mustangs, Subaru WRX's and the list goes on and on, all of the engineers got it all wrong when the pointed their holes to the front? Why did Nissan use a scoop that pointed to the front on the Turbo 300zx? I havent seen any difference in the temp gauge from before or after, nor have I seen any difference in speed either.
  9. I started out with my cordless dremmel and used the non ceramic cutting discs, which took for ever. I also realize I wish I bought a corded one...it doesnt take long to lose charge at top speed. Once I got it cut I realized that the supports underneath were still attached so I used my Sawzall and cut them and "reshaped the supports underneath. I used 4 screws to mount the new flap to the massaged supports underneath... The hood needed work anyways since the clearcoat on my car is peeling on the top panels.
  10. Can anyone else see this site or did my work block it? www.300zxclub.com thanks Rick
  11. I helped her get her site up and running, its mainly focused on the candles, she does candle parties and she gives out the address and it allows people who have credit cards to use the paypal feature to pay. I have asked her to consider giving HybridZ members a discount if they spend a certain amount, (I suggested $30.00 and get 10% off.) I will add another post when she lets me know. I have burned a couple of these, they smell real nice, and since they dont have the petroleum in them like normal candles do, there is no carbon monoxide from the burn. There 100% soy. Thanks again, Rick If you see a typo, let me know. Thanks.
  12. I have 2 questions on this, please clue me in. 1. What model of turbo do you all think this is? 2. Couldnt you use the airconditioning mount on the VG30 instead of the alternator? that would put it right next to the intake. It would seem to me that you could have the brackets made to accomplish this, but hey, ive never held a turbo in my hands before and not have to pay the high costs... How much does a junk yard turbo go for? A long time ago, about 17 years ago actually, me and my friend actually thought what about the blower motor from an old 70's Cadillac, but that was as far as it went. This appears to be much for feasible for the budget concious person.
  13. Hey guys, I hope I dont offend anyone by posting this, but I am posting this for my sister Tonia. She makes these candles that dont have petroleum in them. She has a pretty large selection on her website. If you dont have something special for your wife, girlfriend, or both lol, take a look. She has reasonable prices and each is custom made for you at the time of ordering. Let her know you found her site through HybridZ. Http://www.toniascandles.com Thanks -Rick
  14. I did the install last week but now I need advice on my cone filter setup. I removed the shroud so I could install the fan, which I think looks better. I also have the cone filter mounted on to a trimmed 3" steel furnace vent (now thats a hybrid, Ford+Nissan+Home Depot ...lol) Any suggestions on creating a plastic box to encase the filter so that my fan doesnt blow the hot air into it? I thought I saw a magazine one that showed how to custom make them but I cant remember where or when. Thanks Rick
  15. Hey guys, I just did the Taurus fan install on my 87 300zx and I only used a single fan thermostat and I wired the hi speed to it and I got it to cool like before, but it usually only runs for about 8 seconds after I turn it off. Just like some factory cars I did notice a performance increase by removing the old fan setup and bolting down the pulley. I also hear my cone filter more now when I stomp on the gas. The only thing I dont like is the cone filter rubs on the hood since I am still using the factory resonator box. I guess PVC and krylon here i come. I will post a pic next week. Autozone sells the remote oil cooler remount kit for $4.99. I also got the thermostat for I think $15.99. The shroud was a PITA, but mine was semi broke, and I wasnt going to turn back, so I snipped it to pieces and got it out. I like the look too, as you can see more of the engine and gives the false sense that there is actually room in the Z engine compartment. Anyone figure out what do to do to block the air from the new fan from getting to the cone filters?
  16. I have noticed on random occasions that my 300zx will start bogging down by itself and I have to keep 1 foot on the brake and 1 on the gas to keep it idleing. I noticed that when I wiggled the TVS connector, the car would idle again, but the connector is so loose. any ways, I have my 5spd in the shed and it came with the Throttle Valve Switch for a manual, so I put that one on and my Z idles really nice now, but I have to wonder what that pigtail connects to off of the automatic version one. Do you think I will be ok driving without it connected? Does anyone know where that connector leads?
  17. If he did get into an accident, think of all the splinters Ouch Shameless plug: Do you think he will Thompson Water seal and stain it? Might look good Cherry!
  18. On my previous Nissan Hardbody, I shaved the rear tailgate handle and filled in the nissan indentation that went from one side of the tail gate to the other side. I dont prefer bondo but I used Gorilla Hair and that did the trick. Looked real nice too when it was done.
  19. Would you be willing to part with some of your parts? I am looking for a drive shaft out of a Z31 2+2 manual tranny. If you got one, and dont need it, PM me please.
  20. Got my Taurus fan in, I went to autozone and purchased the stick kit for 4.99 and I also bought a Thermostat kit for 14.99. I went to put every thing in but realized that the kit was a single function, not a dual function. Tool late anyways, I am going to buy another relay this time and hook up my relay to the ingnition source for the low speed fan. The high speed fan is hooked up to the battery and uses the thermostat. Doesnt overheat, and got to get rid of the fan, fan clutch, lower and upper shrouds... My next project, is to install some LED's that I have to the wiring for the low and high speed fans so that they turn on when the fan is running on either speed. I plan on mounting the LED's next to my CD player. Pretty cool. Rick
