  1. I just was told by an associate, hey your lights are on. I was kind of in disbelief since I didnt use them this afternoon. I looked out my office window and my parking lights were on. I went out to the car and the switch was in the off position. I pulled back a little and it moved slightly and they turned off. I noticed if I wiggle the turn signal stalk, they the parking lights / dash lights turn on and off. What do you think I should do? Is it something I need to crimp down somemore? Should I replace the stalk? Thanks.
  2. I was encouraged to get the codes off my Z, so I pulled the passenger side cover off the ECU and I dont see any lights or what not. Am I looking in the right place? 1987 300zx NA 2+2 Ttops Automatic Thanks Rick
  3. I have seen posts on the internet if I remember correctly stating that someone made a "Clear" timing cover? I was wondering if anyone can say that this is true and where to find one?
  4. Can anyone help me with this issue? I have a Haynes manual which is severely inadequate on the wiring diagram. What color wires are hooked up to the fuel temperature sensor? the two taped off wires I saw were a red one and a green one. It looked like a yellow wire was originally crimped in. Can any one help? If you can scan a better diagram, please email it to me at titaniumUNDERSCOREclawAThotmailDOTcom. thanks Rick UNDERSCORE= _ AT= @ DOT= .
  5. Does anyone know why the FPR's lead off for the engine coolant temp sensor would be removed and taped off? Was this sometype of performance trick? I noticed it when I was changing the plugs and I was at the spark plug closest to the radiator on the passenger side, and I saw a 1/4" tubing with a wad of electric tape and then a nub of electric wire just sitting there right above the spark plug heading towards the FPR. I looked to see if anything near it was missing a wire and I noticed that the FPR had a black connector on it but no wire. I went to stip the wire some and I actually pulled it out, it was being used to clog a vacumm line secured by the electrical tape. I looked in my manual, and it seams the wires from the FPR run along the plenum, with that I looked again and I saw two individual wires near each other and they were taped off also? Just wondering if I should hook this back up. I do have an issue with the car not shifting into OD when its cold or if its hot, I have to put in N, turn it off, turn it back on, then shift to D, and then it goes into OD for the rest of the day or till its cold again Any ideas?
  6. I just wanted to say hello, I have been reading your posts and didnt realize that you live in my hometown. What part of town do you live in? I was born at MWH, almost graduated from James Monroe before moving. If you know where Aunt Sarah's Pancake house is by the mall, I used to live in that old farm house behind it and Captain D's. Do you have any pics of your Z in town that you could post? I moved in 1991 to Lexington Park, MD and have only been back once in 98/99. I love to see some of the changes that is always happening to Fredericksburg, VA. -Rick "First and Foremost, I am a Virginian" - Jefferson
  7. Ressurecting interesting posts, Brad, 2 years later, are you happy with the manual air? how difficult was it converting to the manual air? Did you take any pics? thanks,
  8. has anyone heard of this happening or had this happen to them? I have a 87 300zx 2+2 ttops, the gauge goes slowly down to E after driving about 180 miles, I go to fill it and it takes roughly 9 gallons to fill it. Any ideas or quick fixes?
  9. Can you post a pic of the wheels now that they are done? I would like to see the finished product. Thanks,
  10. My 87 came with 16" rims in a bronze color and I was wondering if this was factory paint over the standard polished aluminum? I was wondering if it was worth it to take the layer of color off? From what I see, most people have the polished and I have found only one other pic of the bronze color wheels. Thanks
  11. Is there any ready aftermarket electric cooling fan kits out there for a 1987 300zx non turbo? I want to add some HP and get rid of the fan belt driven one . Thanks. Rick
  12. I am researching which tranny is best to swap into my 87 300zx 2+2. Haynes says there is 3 different manual tranny's FS5W71C (ALL YEARS) FS5R30A (87 AND ON) or BW T-5 FS5R90A (TURBOS) What is the difference in these first 2? if anyone has the link to the write up on swapping it, can you please post it. Thanks
  13. Project car 1987 300zx 2+2 NA Ttop Automatic I am currently enjoying a cool car, faster than what I am used to. The only problem I have with the car is it will not shift into OD unless it warms up and then I have to reboot my car. I was wondering if it was possible to change over to a 5 spd. If it is possible, could someone point me to FAQ if there is one that shows what is needed from the donor car? Thanks.
  14. If you read this and own a 1986-89 300zx non turb, please respond, what is your normal oil pressure as seen on the gauge? Thanks Mine ranges from around 28 to 35. Is that normal?
  15. Sorry, I wasnt asking about the OD switch, I was asking about the unknown rocker switch.
  16. I have a 1987 300zx 2+2, Na, Auto. If I am sitting in the drivers seat, and looking at the console, I see a rocker switch just above the passenger side mirror control. What is that for? I accidently turned it on, and my transmission wouldnt shift unless it was 4k + rpm. If I turn it off, then my transmission shifts fine. It is faded so I cannot tell what it has on it. I have a OD button on my shifter, what is this for? I would really appreciate any help. New 300zx owner.
  17. I looked in my repair manual and I cant find my answer so I am hoping that some one might be able to answer this. I have 1987 300zx na. It has 2 large vacumm ports on the top of the engine, near the back passenger side of the intake manifold cover. They both point towards the passenger side. one of mine is ripped off. Does anyone know where these two go?
