Yeah, it is a pretty awesome car
-
Ive got one of the NISSAN ones.... but no L motor to put it on...
Oh and the LD28 valve cover is different. Its skinny to clear the diesel injectors and wont bolt onto a normal L motor.

Some of the 240sx TB's use a larger shaft. Was the nut on there a 12mm or a 14mm? If the bigger, you will have to use a dremmel tool, file, or mill to cut the hole slightly bigger.

Just looking at car-part, you can get into a used transmission from an 03 or 04 for like $650. Im going to guess your SRT has lost more value than $650, but thats just a guess.
My roomates SRT has been totally free of little issues like that, he is comming up on 28k miles and the only issue so far has been a belt squeek that goes away once the car is warm. Oh right, and the broken axle from a failed burnout at the drag strip.

This is an interesting topic. Ive usually had friends that are into cars, and friends that know how to work on cars, but most cant really keep up with the pace I keep while wrenching. Im usually the one helping everyone else out, and seeing my project covered in dust in the corner. Ive always been around older car guys (im 25 now, most of these guys are in thier 50's and 60's now) so I learned a whole lot at a young age.
My dad has been the influence/huge help since I was little and wanted to learn about everything with wheels. Ive taken alot of knowlage and work ethics from him, and sometimes his tools too (haha) I think without him around, I wouldnt be into cars at all. He is one of the few people who I can wrench with and not get fustrated with.
As for the car clubs.... The only ones ive found worth while, or 'fun' to be in seems to be the vintage racing clubs. Ive met alot of really cool people who would help me if I asked, and who are the first to throw me a beer when I can help them out a bit. These guys actually use thier cars, rather than go to the drive-in, eat burgers, and shoot the breeze while staring at everyone elses rides.

I sell them on Ebay under the user name Fiestaboy80. I sell them with the linkage modified and no spacer. I havent been getting any out of the junkyards locally due to lack of supply I guess. I usually charge $75 + $8 shipping. The linkage mod is quite simple, and if you get one from a single cam KA24E without cruise control there is no cutting or threading needed.

My roomate has a Tail with open dump tube on his SRT-4. Its fun to scare people with the noise. Mine will be running a similar setup, but on the side of an RB.
As always 240hoke, your work looks great!!

Im trying to sell my RB harness and ECU on local forum here. The harness has been modded to plug and play into a 240sx. Im curious what you guys think a good price would be for both me and the buyer.
He offered me $150 for the pair, which I think is way too low. Ive seen KA24dE ECU/Harness combo's go for that. Curious to see what you guys think.

http://www.dragdriftautox.com used to have them. Its where my clip came from.

Watchin this topic. Im curious also as im thinking about doing a similar setup on the RB.... still havent decided yet, but ive got the wastegate so I might give it a shot

My guess, is the caliper doenst have enough clearance to sit all the way down on the rotor like it should.... or it doenst have enough pad area to cover the whole rotor surface.

well I got a friend deal, so it wasnt too bad. Like I said, it took 7 hours, so whatever shop rate is multiplied by that.
-
Sorry to hear about your head gasket, I had the same thing happen to mine about 1k after a motor rebuild. I used a cheapo headgasket and the bore spacing was off and I got a blow out between the waterjacket and cyl wall on #6.
I hate to sound like a salesman, but ive got a hardly used 1mm metal headgasket sitting here. since my L project is no longer, I dont need it anymore. PM me if its something you might be interested in.

Yeah, a shop should be able to pull that no problem. Here are a few pics of my wreck a year ago. The car was bent to a point that the oil filter was punctured by the motor mount (I think) and the rear of the passenger door came in contact with the door jam and would not open. Suspension was all bent up too. I had Hoey's (sp) Autobody in olympia pull mine. It ended up taking them 7 hours on the rack to get it all straight. Looks almost as good as new.
I would just pay to get your car fixed rather than having to swap all the stuff onto a new shell. just my opinion though.

I bought mine cause it looks decent, gets 35mpg, and is pretty entertaining to drive. Something totally stupid about being able to hold your foot on the floor for more than 3 seconds before breaking laws..... Also there is something to be said for honda (and toyota for that matter) with their reliablity.
Ive been thinking about it since ive had the car, rice is a state of mind more than anything else.
-
I dont think anyone will chase you away. I just bought a honda myself, my first one (HA) its a 96 civic hatch with a bunch of body mods, motor is stock and its great, 35mpg! I would for sure look at the K series motors, I just joined up at http://www.k20a.org lots of interesting stuff over there.
Heres a pic

If you end up not getting this car... I know someone who would be interested in it. A coworker of mine got rear ended last week in is 70... got totalled.

you should post a link to help any future searchers!

I thought about using the LD block, but never go around to it. Im pretty sure DAW is running one, im not sure who else.
-
yeah, ive thought about it. Specially when my friends SRT just put down 409 whp on stock internals. I would think you could mate up whatever tranny you wanted to with that jeep bellhousing. just a matter of the right clutch setup.
-
Any thoughts on S2000 seats? Ive seen a few sets for sale and curious if anyone had tried those.
-
I was hoping the rear glass was going to break

I think thats the best picture ive seen on here in a while...... thinking about going out int he garage and doing it myself.... I still dont have my new airdam though.

A cam is a cam as far as I know. I was just relating information that I knew to a question I had.
Who said diesel's weren't fast?

Its already been done! I seriously cant find any info on it with the exeption of the same news story over and over again. It was LD28 with a turbo hung on the side. Ran on recycled fryer oil otherwise known as bio-diesel. Im sure someone else can have better luck with google....
