That Z doenst look bad at all. Easy rust fixes... I would see if he is negotiable on the price and go from there. The interior is very well maintained also. I am sure it would be worth the 2500 he is asking as long as the drivetrain is in good running condition.

the fuel temp sensor is the little part sticking out of the fuel pressure regulator, one wire connected to it.. You are best off going to a junkyard to find one. But you do not need it as it does not change anything in the PCM parameters. On one of my Z31's the fuel temp sensor has been broken for years and no problems. I agree with roscoe, it is highly unlikely that all of those sensors went bad at the same time. Check your grounds. There are a few that connect to the plenum, and then one that connects to the body, straight from the engine harness.

what are you looking to spend? Here is a few links to reasonably priced cars around us... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=200358795&dealer_id=56601532&car_year=1987&search_type=both&make=NISSAN&distance=300&model=300ZXTURBO&address=48043&certified=&advanced=&max_price=&bkms=1147130804576&min_price=&end_year=1989&start_year=1984&isp=y&lang=en&cardist=300 Here is one for parts... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=188869028&dealer_id=56874328&car_year=1986&search_type=both&make=NISSAN&model=300ZXTURBO&distance=300&address=48043&advanced=&certified=&bkms=1147130804576&max_price=&min_price=&first_record=26&end_year=1989&start_year=1984&isp=y&pager.offset=25&lang=en&cardist=115 I am sure there is a few for sale in the greater detroit area too, I will ask a few of my friend dealers if they have come across one.

you will need a 31 spline drivesahft. If you dont have the original driveshaft yoke that goes to the tranny, I believe that the Z32 yoke is the same, however you will need the Z32 driveshaft customized to work in your car. The differential companion flange is not the same as a Z32. There is no way around a custom drivesahft for our cars. For a custom driveshaft you are looking at about $400-600. I am having an aluminum driveshaft made as soon as I get the RB in the car. In the Z31 chassis alone there were 6 different driveshafts.

rb = race bred 26 = 2.6 l d = DOHC e = electronic fuel injection tt = twin turbo t = single turbo The RB part is not really what it stands for... Not too sure what RB stands for though. There are a lot of rumors as to what RB actually stands for. But IMO I think it means inline block?

sorry to hear about the Z. I will keep my ear to the ground for another Z.
-
That is AWESOME!!! Would have never thought of your combination. Can't wait to see it mounted in the car.

After another day, the engine is ready to come out.
-
you wont melt a piston with the stock turbo. With the right tuning you could probably squeeze 22-28 psi before meltdown.
-
I believe that you can just turn it up.
-
If you have a ceramic impeller on your turbo dont turn up the boost past 12-14 psi. The ceramic impellers arent meant to spin as fast as a metal impeller.

Started removal of parts today. now she will sit in the air for a few months...Started taking apart the old Z31 VG30E, before I started, and about to get dark outside so I quit here. Total lapse time about 45 minutes. The radiator is just sittin there, cuz I am going to start the engine tomarrow and change the oil for whomever buys it. I plan on taking video of the engine running.

Anyone ever hear anything about this brand/parts?

The TT would NOT have a different bolt pattern than the N/A. Also the TT clutch surface is 250mm. I have been told that the Z32 N/A clutch and pressure plate will work on the RB flywheel. I cant recall if the pressure plate needs a little modification or not. Hope this helps. -
You will need exhaust manifold(s), turbo ECU. The stock internals will take about 400-500whp before having a problem. As long as the engine is in good condition and well taken care of. Is the cedric RWD? If so you may only need the left side manifold(drivers side in USA). Here is more details about a turbo swapped VG30E. http://www.redz31.com/pages/turbo.html

I have just started this same swap. Here are a few links...http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100614 My page...http://www.freewebs.com/racinjitter/... Dramier's Z31...http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101735 and another Z31 I found at random...http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101735. I think that is all of the Z31's with RB's in them that are in the states. Good luck with the project!

Found an 87-88 Turbo Tranny is it worth it?
Racinjitter replied to Okay Z's topic in Nissan V6 Forum
Here is another link Jason is running about 420whp on the turbo tranny. http://www.redz31.com/. He is from MI also. -
try the Z31 200ZR rear sump oil pan. Here is a link... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100614

I found another Z31 with a RB for a heart. Just thought I would share. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/566339

I believe that you will need a resistor inbetween the PCM and the tach. 2.8Kohm? Nope here is a link http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102319

I have looked at a lot of the less expensive standalones. Personally I would like to just plug and play. Rather than re-wire everything again. I also like the data logging potential of the EMS. I am very familiar with the EMS, and there is online support if anything does happen. I used to be an engineer for ford and I also did a lot of the development in wiring. I dont want to come home to do it again. Unless I have to. Are you going with the RB or the VG? I took a look at your site and it looks like you are going VG? Good target considering you are doing internals. http://www.redz31.com/ should be helpful for your intentions for 600whp VG. Jason lives a few hours from me, I have heard that his car is freaky fast.

Well as of right now, My goals are to have a 500whp road race car, that is still streetable. I have purchased an aftermarket turbo and had a custom exhaust manifold made. I did not want to spend a grand on a HKS manifold, mine so far has cost me $200 and change. I also am planning on a AEM EMS standalone computer due to the tunability. I have found a distributer that sells the EMS for 1600 with UEGO. I wont have everything on the engine this year, but hope to have it running by august. In time for the woodward dream cruise.

To those running RB25/Rb26 in Z31, gauges question.
Racinjitter replied to a topic in Nissan RB Forum
I currently have a 88 Z31 GLL with digital dash, and am starting this conversion this week. I am not going to even try to get the digital guages to work with my swap. I have already bought aftermarket guages to replace my digi dash. One reason for this is the RB25DET revs to 8000 RPM (factory), the digital wont support any mods then as it only shows 8000 rpm max. My second reason for not using the factory guases is due to innacuracy. My third reason for not using the digital guages is that the power supply for the digital guages goes out all the time, the solder on the circuitry goes bad. I have soldered mine twice now, both times with silver bearing solder. I love the look of the digi guages but they just wont be accurate enough for the swap. My final reason for not using the digital guages is that the Speedo sensor is electricly driven, very expensive to replace the VSS $280 nissan cost. I dont believe it can be re-calibrated. There is one other person that can chime in on this subject, his screen name is Dramier. He had this swap done by Augusta Customs in Georgia. He also had/has a digital dash. I believe he kept the digital guages though. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=95730 There isa link to his page on there, direct link http://shenclub.org/images/Bones, and another http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101735. I hope this helps you out. -
OH, thanks again!

thanks SR, but does he have the engine mounts too? I am hearing that they are custom.
