  1. I found a source for 1985 200sxt diffs, not sure how many they have but they said a few. $780 shipped http://www.qualityautoparts.com
  2. I have an OS Giken LSD in my R200 diff now that I've run for a couple years. The OSG LSD is actually for a 240sx, the difference is one uses 10mm bolts the other uses 12mm bolts. The 240sx came stock with a 4.11 ring and pinion gear. My theory is... if the OSG LSD is for a 240sx than I bet the 4.11 R&P out of a 240sx will fit my R200 diff. I'll post in this thread the results.
  3. One reason I'm shifting early in that video is the tach quit working. But even when it did work I shifted around 6,500 most of the time. Except coming threw hog pin on to the front straight at VIR, I run it up to 7,200-7,300. I think I try and conserve the motor because I can't afford to refresh it each year.
  4. I just dropped the car off with John Hines for a rewire and cage install, hopefully we can come up with a good solution for gearing Thanks for your help
  5. Here's my dyno sheet. Rebello Built this motor for me a couple years ago. I'm running ITB's, Adaptronics ECU, 1 5/8" comp header, 3" exhaust Part of the problem is driver (ME) and the other part is gears. I need to run it up to 7,300-7,500 rpm's but the only time I ever get there is the back straight at VIR full and the back straight at Road Atlanta, Even then I'm still in 4th. I believe I've gotten my answer to my original question "Whats the best trans for an L28 280z track car" ANSWER: there is no "Best" anything it depends on driving style, HP and torque. Driving style is the main factor in this equation. I'm going to change out my rear gear to a 4.11 and see what I think. I'll let you know next year… See ya at the track! Thanks for all the help!
  6. Just clicked on "quote" under your (johnc) post and typed a message, when I hit post it posted a blank. Look above this post and you'll see. Maybe somethings wrong with my computer. I have a mac Whatever…
  7. I have an OS Geiken LSD in it now, 1. Can I get the 4.11 gear and reuse my LSD? 2. Where would I get just the 4.11 gear?
  8. Where can I get a 4.11 diff? I guess I can research it… Thanks for all the info Damn site won't let me quote!!
  9. Here are a couple pics and a video of me at Road Atlanta a few months ago, Track day with Rezoom motor sports
  10. 245/45/16 Used TT, track days, hpde's. Wish I had time to race, this z is so modified though I don't know what class it would be in Forgive me but I don't know what aero is? I'll post a pic when I get home. And I'll figure out what I have for diff ratio. A shop out in CA suggested a 4.11 diff
  11. 245/45/16 R6 Do you have a source for the Nissan comp close gear ration trans? Supposedly this 32010-N3130 was a factory comp trans with 2.907, 1.902, 1.308, 1, 0.864
  12. About once a month Road courses with Hoosier R6's What came with a 4.38? SX trans is heavy and long What do you mean "Building a 1980 71B?" Do they make a gear kit for it?
  13. FYIThe rep at OS Geiken says they have lots of complaints about this websit giving out false info. He said the close ratio gear kit is for an sr trans not a ka trans. He said they're working on a kit for the ka but it's still in the design stage. He wouldn't say if it would work with a little modification but did say there are subtle differences. I don't have the money to experiment. Do you know if the bell housing that was modified for my ka will fit on the sr?
  14. I'll figure it out before I spend anything. That's one reason I'm on here. I'll rotate the half shaft and figure out what I have.
  15. It would be nice if it would fit, I'd order one today! I'll poke around a little if I can find the time and see what I can find out.
  16. Someone mentioned a 4.11 rear diff, I don't know where you'd get a 4.11 though. I'm running a Rebello 3.2 on 110 octane, ITB's and 3" exhaust
  17. I called OS Geiken and asked if it would work in my SX trans. The guy told me it wouldn't. Maybe I should call back and talk to someone else.
  18. Too many factors I guess. I'm shifting to fith at about 120mph, hp peaks at 7,300+/- rpms 357hp @ flywheel 300ftlb torque @flywheel 16" wheels with R6's Stock gear ratio diff with OS Geiken LSD (not sure of ratio, one search says 3.54 another says 3.36) I have that SX trans in it now and if 2nd and 3rd were closer and 5th was a little shorter it would be great. Custom built dog box with straight cut gears is about $7-8k Budget is about $4-5k
