This is just a WAG but what about the gasket that goes between the sump and block! If I remeber right it wasnt included in my engine gasket kit and I had to make one! Maybe it is sucking air into the filter????? but wouldnt think you would have pressure unless its air pressure????

according to his profile it is a 77, so check you throttle position sensor for water corrosion or plug not tight!

yes the VR for the 77 is behind and underneath the metal frame that the fusable links attach to, also check your fuse in the fuse box and also your fusable links, all 4 they will cause some stupid problems, if they are not tight and have a good connection! And ditto on the ZX internal alt coversion, done 2 and well pleased!

I agree, do the H4 but also do the headlight harness with relay conversion, will have 2 of them done hopefully by the weekend and cantell you more!!

DO NOT BUY THEM!!! they are junk , yes I have a set installed and they are coming out very soon for the BD ones I bought, and by the way they are NOT projector, just h4!!

check your fuseable links first!!! My 77 did same thing, hard excel was the worse! a loose or bad connection will cause this or burnt link! look for melted block thats the first indicator, then try to slightly crip the ends tighter and reinstall them!

I bolted and tack welded mine then filled, tried with out the tacka nd kept cracking!

Zfever, if you dont find them PM me in a couple days, I believe My son is going to part out his 73 240, he has screwed it up for the last time it appears, broke the frame behind the front right rear, enough is enough but if he is going to get another ride I dont see any option but to part it and sell to help with cost, its a shame it started out decent!
