Yup. Now i know exactly how aziza feels. Went downtown for a little bit, then on my way back home (doin about 50mph on the highway) i hear a rattle, then loose any effective steering or braking, and drift to the side of the road as i watch my front wheel fly down the road. It must have been a pretty hillarious thing to see though, I stop my car get out and run down after my wheel. Find it in the ditch about 500 yards away. I now have walked the walk of shame. Coming back up to my car with my wheel. lol:rolleyesg A very special thanks to Adamstoy (sp?) a new member here on Hybridz who was kind enough to stop and let me use his lug wrench to take a lug off of the other 3 wheels so i could get home. He said he's seen my car at church, and found the website from the sticker on my quarter window. (yay they actually work!!). He has a 260z too and hopefully he'll post some project pictures. EDIT: Pictures added. Any body shop guru battle assessments? I'll probably just buy a new fender and re spray it, cause i doubt it will be cheaper to fix. Positive camber for the lose... Driver side correct clearance. Also notice intact lube fitting. Pass. side clearance. And ground down fitting. Pretty sure the whole strut assembly is FUBAR.

how do you know its out? The only place to find subtitles is from http://wmexpressway.net. and he hasn't finished subbing it. there were some DVD's made that went to ep. 12 but that was some ebay thing and i never heard much about it. Some other people on here know about that. but ep. 12 will be out officially subbed by Superjakko within the week...so it should be out pretty soon anyway.

geez i know it. I thought it was bad before...but this is just insane. Hopefully this summer i can get atleast some used lowering springs on her. I plan on going zg-flares in a little while, so i think i'll wait on the coilvers until then unfortunately.

oh yea? crazy. Well i guess it makes sense. The race has gotten really big in the last few years. They have gone over their 'max' number of teams every year for the past 3 or 4 years i think. 420 teams this year. Guess the car show is a newer thing then. I've always remembered it there, but then again that hasn't been too long for me that i've gotten into the festivities. (usually been helping out with the race)

Well if you are from the Northwest, you probably know about the Ski to Sea race that's held annually here in Bellingham, WA. If you don't, it's a team marathon race, starting with a downhill ski leg on Mt. Baker, and ending with sea kayaking on Bellingham Bay. Anyway It's a pretty big event around here and one of the festivities they always have is a classic car show at one of the local parks. I've been to it for a few years now, but this was the first year I was able to actually enter my car! It's the first actual car show i've ever been in, and have to say I had a blast. Got to talk to so many people with so many different kinds of cars. Including a supercharged MX-5, a handmade Alfa-Romeo, and lots of others. Here's some pictures: lots of confusion with the "HybridZ" sticker. lol. Some fun conversation came out of that Handmade based off of a 1937 Alfa Romeo. Guy said that the metal work was done based on pictures. Incredible craftsmanship. Original Datsun 510. So clean! V-8 Conversion MG

Kuhmo Victoracers?
Globerunner513 replied to Globerunner513's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
just a quick picture of the wheels/tires on my car. I'll have better pictures this weekend. Really needs to be lowered now -
PM sent Yeah as above, most of the time I'm out here in Spokane for school, and I just have to kind of make my own breaks whenever i can. I'll be going out back to bellingham this friday however until memorial day. As far as the local pick and pulls, I honestly havn't been to many. I go to lummi island for most things i need. gundy's is a great place, but its very rare that they stock a car as old as ours. The pick and pull from this thread is in spokane.

Highly suggest you guys in the NW search "datsun" on seattle craigslist. Might find some interesting stuff Search through the past few days. Theres some good deals on parts cars and shells. Also a couple fairly good condition Z's for pretty good price.
-
chitty chitty bang bang should have been in the top 10. I liked the first 3 but james bond definetly needed to be above speed racer. Interesting list though. Kind of fun to browse through.

hmm... 5.3L RX-7 huh? so that would be like....8 rotors? haha now THAT would be a build. Seriously though, can't wait to see this thing go!
-
maybe try disconnecting the speedo cable from the back of the speedometer? Really I kind of doubt that would do anything...but its worth a shot. You can calculate speed based on rpms/gear ratio/tire size.
-
perhaps your car isn't quite as stock as you think? my 280z hit 130 just fine with no governor of any sort. how do your RPM's respond when it slows down and then back up to 85? Is it possible that your rpms are still rising, while the speedo is stuck at 85?

well turns out they were gone already. Oh well...I was planning on waiting until i have the money for some recaro seats anyway. Thanks for the tips though. That thread really helped to visualize what goes into a seat swap like this.

Kuhmo Victoracers?
Globerunner513 replied to Globerunner513's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks for all the insight guys! As for the sticker, this is what it says.... -
Found these for $50 for the pair. Im going to pick them up anyway...but just wondering before hand how well they fit into a 280z? I know there are probably several variants of these seats, and one picture can't show a whole lot. I did search and found someone who used a set of APC seats and said he had to add some spacers to tilt the seat a little inward. The picture expired though, and I couldn't see what the seats looked like. Thanks guys!

Kuhmo Victoracers?
Globerunner513 replied to Globerunner513's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. Seems like I'll do what I had somewhat planned, and get some cheapo street tires, and bolt these on if I want to go to the track. Also, obviously they need to be warm to grip well...but too hot and it will be detrimental to the tire? I've heard of spraying down the tires after a session, anything specific about doing that? I'd like to at least get a season out of these tires, but if they're going to start loosing grip after the first weekend, I'd like to make sure they last as long as possible. Thanks again! -
Well i've searched a bit and it seems there is a fair amount of people who have experience with these tires. I just got a set of 4 victoracer tires (205/55/14 about 50% worn?) that are going on some 14X7 turbine style wheels i got with them. For $120 i can't complain. Anyway I'm wondering just what the threshold of street use is for these tires. I plan on doing a lot of autoX this year, as well as your occasional night time mountain/canyon run kind of deal. Right now, the Z is my daily driver, although I can deal with bolting on the good tires if I wanna go zip around. I've just never owned a set of tires like these and am looking for a little tips/pointers I guess. Thanks! Here's what the tread looks like. And just for kicks, what I did to the wheels I got
-
lol u kidding? For the wheels/tires and now the valve cover? Im pretty sure im still owing you:D AFTER:
-
Braap you just have a Top Gun quote for everything huh? haha Anyway thanks guys. I was just pretty excited and thought I'd share. Since my career choice is aviation, it's interesting to see what the ground service side to it all is like.

Loading and unloading UPS cargo planes. Pretty sweet to be around planes again and not have to come home oily/greasy/dirty, etc. (worked lube shop/tire shop jobs before) Here's some pics I took this morning.

Well its official. Within a week, the 3 spokane HybridZ members now have a turbo motor in their hands!! *gold star for teamwork?* hehe... Went out and hung out with Woldson today at the junkyard. Went surprisingly smooth pulling the motor out. Haha...my 3rd motor I've helped pull in 5 days! awesome!! And in true HybridZ form....the picture!
