  1. Employment laws vary greatly from state to state. Many things that work in one state do not work in another. The part of the law that works in every state is Title VII. It prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. I believe age and disability have been added since, but I am not an employment lawyer. Nothing contained in this posting should be taken as legal advice except the advice to go see a competent employment attorney.

If your wife is terminated based on one of the aforementioned protected classes, she has a case. In many states, if your wife quits because of a hostile work environment based on one of the aforementioned protected classes, she has a case. Many states also have other laws in place which further protect employees. To find out what laws apply in your state, you are going to have to speak to an employment lawyer.

In most instances, a new company would not have a duty to the employees of another company to hire them. One employment contract I recently read stated that Company A was no longer and that Company B began on Friday. If anyone wanted to be employed by Company B, they would have to sign a lengthy non-compete. After signing the non-compete, Company B had the right to fire them and they could not work in their profession for at least 6 months. Pretty drastic, but at least some corporate attorney believed it passed muster.

In another instance, the County was hiring a person. The County was going to choose 2 out of three employees. Since Indiana is typically an at will state, the County only needed to avoid violating federal law, Title VII. So our illustrious County Commissioner reportedly said when hiring the two newest attorney's, "Let's give the young ones a chance". Needless to say, this is a violation of Title VII since it is hiring based on age. The injured party sued in federal court and won.

I also found this website which may be helpful:

    Good luck!

  2. Judging by the bidder ratings, I would say the seller was playing games. The 0 feedback bidders are generally sellers. Lots of times sellers bid up buyers then do a second chance offer.

Personally, I prefer a fully louvered steel hood. I believe it was a Datsun option on the purchase of a new 280Z. MSA sells them for $799.00 but they are genuine Nissan parts. I just went to the local pick and pull and picked up a hood for $20 then went to the local hot rod guys house and had the hood louvered for $1/louver (all 82 of them). The hood gives all that heat a place to go and gets a little air flow going.

Here is a pic of my hood:

  3. Hey, I was thinking. If I line up 10 of these

    http://www.electricsupercharger.com/

e-ram electric superchargers like they hint at in their advertisement, that would create 10 psi of boost. See the Super e-ram which is just two of them stuck together.

Then if I add 10 of these

    http://www.zero1000usa.com/poweNEO.asp

for a 50% to 300% increase in mpg, I would have a car that gets crazy gas mileage and tons of power. Especially since these claim to:

Mpg: Improve an average of 5 to 30%.

Pure-ization of the exhaust gas by carbon monoxide reduction is expectable.

There are reduction and a quiet action of the black smoke of a diesel engine.

There is the upgrade effect of engine.

There is the torque rise effect of engine.

There is the response rise effect of engine.

Ignition time can be set forward by the explosive power rise of engine.

An effect is further expectable in the car in which BigInjector was attached.

BTW, I am joking. Both of these ads were in Super Street magazine. Hail the almighty dollar. Otherwise, the people at Super Street would never allow such blatently false advertising.

  4. "It's been great so far. You know, I've done a couple of track days with it. It's always fun, you know, blowing by Z06's and that kind of thing in the straight. They're never expecting that. And so, yeah, I am quite happy with how it turned out."

I took your word for it Amir and built my own. It's great fun.

  5. One day, while driving on a closed circuit, I passed a Corvette then waited. I took off again and dusted the vette. HOWEVER, this was when I had a sbc Z with a 700R4. Many are aware of the shifting issue unless they have a Wide Open Throttle shifting valve. So at 130 mph, my car would not shift out of 3rd gear with my foot on the gas. The vette passed me. I told the story for about 5 years until one day I met a guy at a car lot. He began to tell me how fast those Z cars were. He told me about a day that a Z blew his doors off and he only was able to pass it on top end. He said he had been telling the same story from the other POV for about 5 years. kinda funny.

BTW at 130 my Z was very light in the front end.

  6. Yes, you need to search, but when I had a 260Z with an sbc, here is what I did. My car was a factory air car but everything had been removed. I went to the junkyard and found the original factory parts. I then threw away the compressor and connected gm compressor unit. The air worked great. It was cheap and effective and used all of the stock dials and did not take up space. Do a search.

  7. Yes theoretically CFM remains constant' date=' air speed decreases as area increases. If you kept original computer settings, the car would be fooled into thinking it needed less gas than it is supposed to. Small changes in this is mostly ok on production cars because they intentionally make the car run slightly rich. Of course once you add ram air intake and open up the factory MAF slightly you've used that up and get much closer to even which could increase performance slightly, similar to rejetting a carb one step leaner when you are one step richer than you need to be.

however Airflow is not entirely dictated by the MAF, and do not expect 40% increase in power. Open the intake, port & polish, change the cam, then open the exhaust and you might get 40%. Let us know.[/quote']

BTW, intake is aftermarket and already ported and polished. No cam change. And the exhaust is a tube manifold with 3" mandrel bent exhaust to a 3" inlet - 4" outlet Megan racing muffler. I don't think I can open the intake or exhaust any more.

  8. increase from 250hp to 350hp will be almost assured. I have ordered. I have a Garrett GT2871R on its way. I also have 740cc fuel injectors, a Z32 MAF and an APEXi standalone fuel management system on its way. I expect 365rwhp since I ordered the .64 A/R instead of the .86 A/R. I think the quicker spooling engine is better than the extra hp. According to the guys at SR20forums.com they tested two SR20DET's with the same setup except 550 injectors running 100% duty cycle and got 363rwhp on the .64 A/R GT2871R and 386rwhp on the .86 A/R GT2871R but the .64 A/R spun up 500 rpms lower or quicker. That left the choice of 500 rpm's or 23hp. I chose the lower rpms. Slower top end, better bottom end. I will be dyno'ing in about a month and let you guys know.

  9. I question whether the fumes come through the hatch. My 280Z smelled horrible. I put all new weatherstripping in. My 280Z smelled horrible. I put a new exhaust on the car. My 280Z smelled horrible. I put in an SR20DET. Smell was gone. Does anyone wonder whether the smell is coming through the firewall or up the transmission tunnel? Now, when I blow a turbo gasket, I get the smell again. The rest of the time, I have no odor issues.

  10. Its not just power to weight ratio, but torque, area under the curve, gearing, tires, etc...to see whose car is faster. I've seen a 500RWHP Cobra get the jump on a 650RWHP big turbo Supra (didn't brake boost) for at least 2 gears before the Supra finally caught up. The Supra is about 100 lbs lighter if I recall.

Exactly, I can hear the guy in the Cobra now. "Man, I was winning until he passed me"

He came in second even though the Supra had an inexperienced driver. Almost won though, if almost is good enough.

  11. After careful research, I am going with the GT2871R, Z32 MAF and 550's. I figure I can get at least 350rwhp reliably and still retain my cruising mpg or at least keep it over 20 mpg. I just can't resist the extra relatively inexpensive horsepower. The APEXi standalone is on its way so I don't have to have my computer retuned and retuned. I would rather have my ECU tuned on my car anyway rather than a standard tune without my car.

  12. The 25/40R isn't the best choice for a quick-spooling turbo. These days the hot setup for responsive 240sx's with SR20DET's is the GT2871R with 0.64 A/R turbine housing. The 25/40R's wheels are a bit too mismatched to produce the best response.

Other options are the GT28R or GT28RS.

    Asad

OK, I am thinking I am going to switch to the GT2871R. Which do I need? 0.64 A/R or 0.86 A/R? What are pros and cons? I am switching to APEXi FC with commander and Z32 MAF. The 550's will come soon. Thanks for the help

  13. Technically, there are two types of dismissals. With prejudice and Without prejudice. With prejudice means that they cannot refile the ticket. Without prejudice means that it could be refiled. Although your ticket was probably dismissed without prejudice, I would say that you are free. There would be no reason for the Prosecutor to ever go back and refile the ticket. You won. Be glad that you were speeding - with insurance - as opposed to without. Sounds like you caught a break. Valentine One by the way has a remote mount system

  14. The valentine 1 has long been the number 1 high quality radar detector. However, most officers will automatically give you a ticket if they see a radar detector. You are more likely not to get a ticket without the detector just paying attention.

Now the jammer is something else. That is what I would try. It is usually a felony and a violation of several federal laws. Also, many policemen have complained that they believe that their radar guns have caused prostrate cancer. All you have to do to get out of the infraction is commit a felony and expose yourself to a possible cancer risk.

It reminds me of a local attorney who came to court with his client who was accused of meth dealing for a bond reduction hearing. The attorney had his client testify under oath that he was not one of those dangerous meth users, he merely had the meth so that he could sell it and make money. He had his client deny the D felony punishable by up to 3 years in prison and admit to the A felony punishable by up to 50 years in prison.

  15. I was wondering how it went. Most prosecutor's are so glad to meet a nice respectful person that I expect you were able to reach an agreement. The people that come in with attitude or want to argue about their guilt get exactly that, argument. Arguments are not conducive to resolving the issue.

BTW, has anyone heard from him? Maybe our advice landed him in jail???
