  1. Just joking. But really, you can use your original driveshaft. You will need to take it to any competent machine shop and have it shortened since you will mount the SR20DET much farther back than the L24. Vildini sells an engine cradle. It works well. The wiring info can be found on any SR20DET website and with links on this site. Search and you will find all the wiring info you need.

  2. That's awesome!

From Z-Bum's calculator (http://az-zbum.com/hp.calculator.shtml)' date=' that should be about 350RWHP. He already mentioned he weighed in at 2,620 lbs.

I hope my 240 ends up being that light, if not lighter.[/quote']

The calculator must not take traction into account. He says he ran 11's on street tires. According to the calculator, my car should be in the 10's. I think I would aspire to run 11's on street tires.

    EDIT:

OH wait, I forgot to put my fat *ss in the car. Still in the low 11's. I think high 12's would be more realistic.

    EDIT:

    SO the questions remain:

    2620 lbs.

    What was the wheel HP?

  3. Your fan maybe set up without a thermostat which could leave it on always when running. That isny neccesarily bad. Just keep an eye on your battery charge

If the fan was set up without a thermostat, it would come on when he turn the key to the run position and would not wait for the key to be turned to start. That was the way I had mine set up. Now, I have a Taurus fan set up with relays.

  4. Disco potato??? :weird::ugg::weird:

If you expect to get cognizant answers from the folks on this board' date=' please utilize the correct terminology for sub-components of your engine.

    :twak:

    The correct nomenclature is "turbosupercharger".

What year car do you have? You gave us absolutely no information other than it is a 3.0 SOHC...:toetap05:

    Welcome aboard... I think.

    :lmao:

    Mike[/quote']

    Man Mike,

Why do you jump on guys. Everyone with a turbo knows what a disco potato is. I thought his post was very clear. BTW disco potato=GT28RS

  5. Have you thought about the SR20DET? A few guys will knock it b/c it is a 4 cylinder, but it is easy to get it b/w 350 and 400 whp. Great for a daily driver. Where else can you get 30mpg and 350whp? You will also end up with a mid engine Z that is about 100-150 lbs lighter than most Z cars.

  6. ^ damn, close call. i got a shotgun pulled on me a couple of months back, so now i carry.

Carry in Chicago??? Isn't the penalty for that something ridiculous like 20 years in prison??? Illinois has some of the strictest anti-gun laws. I hope you have a permit. Is it really worth the risk? Don't get me wrong, I carry, I just know that Illinois has some harsh laws.

BTW, what good would a gun do you if someone pulled a shotgun??? I think the proper response to the man with the shotgun is, "Yes, sir"

  7. Hey, all I'm saying is that you got into a forum that you knew nothing about and made statements based on opinion rather than fact. I just thought I would repay the favor and tell you what I thought in your thread. I do think it is a shame that a Z died at your hands and that you did not insure it properly to rebuild it. I am sorry for our loss.

Thanks for the replies. I don't really want a performance car that gets harassment like an acura. I want something that just gets good gas mileage and noone's going to pay any attention to. Hey Lewis is your car for sale?

You have a lot of nerve making fun of a fellow enthusiast's car that nearly got destroyed' date=' after I've put all my time and money into it. I would be sad for you if the same thing hapenned to your car no matter what engine it had. You really have a lot of class.

BTW, I have an insurance policy, and I am getting enough to fix the car (and then some). Of course if you could read, you wouldn't have jumped to another errouneous conclusion.

I want another car so I don't have to drive my z daily, and so that I don't have to rush the repairs.

    Lewis,

I was wrong when I voted on your pole. The 4 cylinder forum is not dead because noone's interested in it. Its dead because people like you are giving out the information. Leave the SR advice to Alex (SR240z), and maybe it will resurrect again.

BTW, I do not hate 4 cylinder cars. I love 510's with sr20's. 240sx's and WRX's are cool too. I think Pete Paraska summed up at the bottom of the thread why it was shut down. Maybe you could have someone read it to you.[/quote']

  8. Often times you can go with him to the bank to pick up the title. If it is a national branch, sometimes, there is a local branch. They will send the title if it is being paid off. I wouldn't trust anyone with money if I had qualms about it.

  9. Lewis' date='

Learn to read first. Then perhaps you will respond with usefull info and your threads won't get shut down.

BTW, I'd prefer a 4 cylinder in this car. And if I'm such a V8 fan then why were you making fun of my "V6" l28et in the 4 cylinder thread?[/quote']

Apparently, you are the one that needs to learn to read. You intruded on my thread and your attitude contributed to the shut down. You are the one that didn't read your insurance policy and is now without a car.

    EDIT

Whoa, that was a little harsh of me. It is just that your attitude in the 4 cylinder thread has completely removed any sympathy I have for you.

  10. Judging by your love of V-8's and hatred of 4 cylinders from the Nissan 4 cylinder thread, I suggest that you get a 1979 Mustang GT. You should be able to find one in your price range. Then after it breaks, you could go spend another $500 and get another and another and another.

  11. I don't think Amir ever said what his quarter was.

As to which engine would be better, it depends on your goals. What are you looking for? Cheap? Track car? Gas mileage? Reliability? Availability of parts? Drag racing? If you don't answer those questions, all you get around here anymore is a bunch of conjecture. It seems the answers are like Ford beats Chevy...or vice versa. If you can answer those questions, however, you can get a less subjective answer to your question.

  12. Don't get me wrong' date=' they'll make more horsepower, but it would seem that you're pushing things, and making them more and more likely to go pop once you get past that approximate mark.

    Best of luck!

    Dave[/quote']

Yes, once you go past the appropriate mark, that is when things go pop. Everything I am reading and hearing is that the hp mark for SR20DET's is about 400whp. If you go past that on stock internals, you are asking for trouble. At least, I hope that is correct. Since I am planning on staying around 360rwhp with stock internals. Guess I might not stay around that hp rating with stock internals if they go pop.

  13. What year is your Z? The older Z's use a mechanical contact for the flasher and have no problem flashing an LED. You can also get LED's that have a flasher built into them which means you do not need to use the load equalizer which in my opinion defeats the purpose of using LED's in the first place (to reduce the current draw on the electrical system). Also any where you place a load equalizer you have to be concerned with heat (you may notice they have a small heat sink on them) and not put them any where that the heat they produce will cause any problems.

    Dragonfly

My Z is a 1978. My lights don't flash. What are my options?

  14. Got this from freshalloy.

"Well i have some new tricks up my sleeve!! I am currently in the middle of helping in the development of Nissdata. simply put it is programamble engine management for Nissans that works just like Hondata. With the system installed the car made 409 Hp / 332 Tq as compared to my previous bests wiht the exact same setup 382 Hp / 305 Tq. This is was doen aat 21.3 psi on 93 octane pump gas on a bone stock block and head, including stock headgasket. Fuel curves are very smooth. You will be hearing more about the system in the coming few weeks....but for now here are the results. My cars specs are as follows:

Red Top SR, GT3040 Turbo (52 trim comp. / 84 Trim Exh.), JGS Turbo Log manifold, Greddy Intake manifold, Tomei 555cc Injectors, Z32 mafs, Tial 40 mm wastegate, custom downpipe, Blitz LM series IC kit."

  15. I have clear corner markers and put LED's in my corners. However, my turn signal does not work. The light works fine, just not the signal. They look really good. They make load equalizers. I could get those at $5.00 each. Does anyone know whether there is an electronic flasher that will work instead?
