  1. Thanks Blue, I figured it would, but it's always good to get confirmation first
  2. Errr I was going to change the subject, but I apparently can't. Something like, "Can I use a 78 Brake MC on a 73 Brake Booster" would be more appropriate.
  3. So I figured something out this evening. The holes in the firewall for my 73, are different than the holes in the parts car, a 78 that is now gone to the junk yard. I was mounting the Clutch MC from the 78 without issue into the 73, then went to install the brake booster, also from the 78, into the 73. Apparently the firewall was changed sometime in possibly 74 (from what I read on here) to facilitate a larger brake booster. Well, here's my question, I just purchased a rebuilt Brake MC for the 78, can I use that on the boost for the 73? Any issues I should watch out for with that setup? Any reason not to run it in that configuration? Stock brakes for now, I'm still worrying about just getting the motor running, then I'll be upgrading other parts as time/$$$ allow. Thanks for your help
  4. I really don't need to see more toys, I need to get the toys I have currently working! Nice video cygnusx1
  5. Stable Autoworks still exists, sorta. I can go down there and push the owner around a bit and see if he'll make/sell some more parts. My 240 was actually supposed to be a kit car for the owner of Stable, he never got around to building it so I now own the car and am building an autocross car out of it.
  6. Alright, I just wanted to verify that. I thought it was right, based on remembering where I thought I pulled each motor mount from, but I hadn't looked at the car from the front and noticed the angle before. Thanks!
  7. Alright, so I made a mistake today, possibly. I removed the motor mounts from my 78 parts motor, but failed to pay attention to which mount went on which side. After working all day on things today my father and I (he's retired so I've put him to work as slave labor now that he's in town for a while) put the 83 l28ET along with the 79 5speed into the car, using the motor mounts in the best manner we seemed to be able to come up with. The question I have though is this. Should the motor be straight up and down, or should the motor have a slight lean to it? See the photo below, and year I realize the car is leaning from the jacking arrangement, but should the block lean to the left like it does in the photo? If not, I'm guessing we have the mounts backwards, and need to switch the sides they are mounted on. Thanks for any positive replies
  8. I sold my 03 350Z for $15k last September.
  9. I need to see some behind the seat interior photos!
  10. Thanks guys, that was the answer I was hoping to hear! No need for me to try to track down those pieces if I will end up not needing them.
  11. I called The Z Store today and asked this question, but I'm still not clear on things. I have a 73 240Z, it had no body work on the front besides the fenders, so I took the headlight buckets, hood and the valence over the wiper motor from a 78 2+2. I was unable to get the lower section underneath the headlight bucket from the passenger side off the parts car due to rust and damage. If I buy a body kit, MSA or similiar kits, will I be able to mount these kits without having that piece, on eitherside? Or do they generally require that bodywork to be there? I was looking at this piece on ebay, and it looks like it actually replaces that lower section completely, which would come in very handy for me. Though I don't know the cars well enough to be sure of that yet. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150103505774&rd=1&rd=1 Thanks for any help Chris
  12. Well the car is gone. I didn't get as much as you guys woulda liked, I didn't have time to de-skin anything today. I'll post some pics later, hope to start work on the 240 Tuesday night, time to start cleaning it up so I can begin installing all the necessaties(sp?).
  13. Glad I found Mull on here. I've been anxiously waiting for a video myself! Come back mull!
  14. So tomorrow (Sunday) I'm making room for the 73 240Z in the garage, which means that I'm taking the 78 2+2 to the scrap yard. I've pulled the motor and transmission. I'm going to pull the diff out, saved the locks from the hatch and doors/ignition. Kept some of the front body work. as my 73 came without. Pulled the dash thinking I might be able to sell it. Pulled the headlights, front turn signals, mirrors. I'm putting in an L28ET into the 73, not yet sure if I'll use the transmission from the 78 or not yet, but most likely will (according to the markings on it, it's from a 79zx originally) What else should I take off the car before it goes? Anyone have any recommendations? Anyone need anything in particular before I scrap it?
  15. What other metal will work on the car? Forgot, I also will be using the wiper area (proper name slips my mind). The lower half of the front end isn't in the best shape, but could probably be massaged a bit to make it work. I've got a hatch on the car and a spare in the basement, so that definitely won't be necessary, though I'm not sure if the 2+2 hatch is any different?
  16. Forgot to add, I plan on doing a megasquirt setup with the l28et.
  17. So I'm hoping to get rolling on my 73 project again. Actually what I have next is to roll the 78 2+2 into the garage and start disassembling it. So here's my question(s). What should I take off the 78 for use in the project? I bought it for the hood/headlight buckets, the 73 doesn't have any of those. I'm also planning on using the 5speed from the 2+2 with the 83l28et I have sitting in the garage. What else? I'll most likely need the alternator as the l28et doesn't have one, water pump I believe as the housing is cracked on the 83 motor. What else? The 73 was an automatic, would the rear end from that car be better than the rear end from the 2+2? Anything else you guys would recommend salvaging/using from the 2+2? The 73 is pretty much a shell at this point, not much else to it. What's my goal? A fun autocross car (SM2) and fun street car. Perhaps eventually I'll make it a Nationally competitive SM2 car, but for now it's just a project. Thanks for the input. Chris
  18. Here's how mine currently sounds. Nismo y-pipe, 3" back with a turbo muffler of some sort, exiting out the right rear. Microphone is sticking out the back hatch, thus the excessive noise. Car sounds great inside, not too loud or resonating on the highway.
  19. I just found my tint receipt the other day, put it in the file cabinet for when it fades and needs replacing as well.
  20. I'd assume it's just the company you keep []
  21. It was damn hot here this weekend, so I had to do all that in under 2 minutes, else I'd die
  22. http://sccaforums.com/blogs/christoc/archive/2006/07/16/Pulling_the_motor_on_the_240Z.aspx Cliffs: Pulled my 73 240 motor this weekend. Still have to pull the motor out of the 78 so I can get the 5spd to put onto the 83 l28et motor and put that all back in the 73, along with the hood and other front peices from the 78.
  23. Welcome to the useless hobby called autox They're a blast, but I really question why I autox sometimes. A few weeks ago I drove to DC, from St. Louis, for a ProSolo. 28 hours round trip, for less than 12 minutes of actual competition!!! Crazy? Yes
