Hasn't slowed me down. Got a set of z-therapy carb bodies that are going in at 3 this afternoon. Plus it's only gonna be 108 today.

How many zs lined up nose to rear would it take to get from earth to the sun?
36,177,334,150 240Zs (on average).

Makes you feel so insignificant doesn't it.

Wow this thing is pretty cool. It's amazing (at least to me) how mechanically correct most of it is. Usually you see and hear stuff like 240zx....
-
Ah, they're both the same one.

I just ordered some from my local (not a NAPA - I think its a CarQuest) mom and pop auto parts store - they had some trouble identifying it at first, but I think we got it figured out. Should be in tomorrow. This store had the dino NSL racing oil in stock, btw, so the "street legality" wasn't an issue for them.
How much was it per quart?
Also, does anyone know how much zinc content is required to adequately protect our flat-tappet cams? I'm not going to go out of my way to get something with .20% if the .12% in the oil I'm running now works just fine.

Do you have any lights while in the run position? That'll let you know if it is the switch or not.
In a 240 all lights work reguardless of key position, save for turn signals.

On the valvoline website, they said Napa carries it. Dunno if you checked there or not. I'm going to check my local Napa sometime today or tomorrow to see if they carry it, and how much more it is over their regular synthetic. And it's amazing what you can find on amazon...Though at 8.30 a quart I might as well run amsoil.
-
Awesome. I didn't even know that was availible (I usually go to autozone, not napa). I've been using their regular synthetic, but if this isn't much of a price difference, I'll switch to it for the added zinc.
-
Maybe I'm sutpid, but I could find any "specs" on amsoil's website to confirm or deny.
Neither could I, hence the fact that the box is blank in the link you originally posted.
Also, vr1 is a conventional oil, not a synthetic.
-
Ah, didn't see your original post, just saw TegRacer's reply.
-
Interesting. According to TimZ's link posted, the Amsoil 2000 series does NOT have any zinc added. As Tim stated, the link is a bit dated ('99), but with the current trend, my assumption is this hasn't changed.Empty cells indicate the data was not avaliable.

There's a strainer in the banjo fitting where the fuel enters the float bowl, but there is no filter in the carb.

What is that big copper tube you have attached to every intake runner for?
Edit: Nvm, it's for better vacuum pull with tripples.

The one thing that had to be taken into account with the build is not how it bolts up or anything like that' date=' that was a breeze, it was the lubrication paths between the head and the block. F54 and E88 use two different methods of oil flow and the head had to be modified to acheive a result. Now, i'm no machinist, but I remember him saying something about 'helical' somethings... hehehe
The old L28 head that used to be on the motor had a more sophisticated lube system on it, but it wasn't a turbo head, nor with turbo cams and such. The E88 was more primitive, but just as effective in practice, it just caused the need for modification.[/quote']
Sorry to bring up a year old thread, but does anyone have any more info on the quote above? I'll be running an E88 on an F54 soon, and I'd like to know what oil system mods, if any, I need to perform.

Hi guys. I've been thinking about converting my '73 240z over to fuel injection. I've been reading tons of info on MS and all the other issues with converting to fi, and the only thing I haven't found any info about (even after much searching) is possibly using it on an E88 head. Has anyone had an E31/E88 drilled for use with fuel injection (4 mounting holes and injector paths)? If so, about how much did the work cost you? The reason for using an E88 instead of one of the FI heads is (1) I want to use it on the stock l24, and (2) I would like to use this head on the L28e I'm building as well to increase compression. Thanks.

Miles/ year driven?

I put around 10,000 miles on my '73 per year, driving it every weekday to school (11 mile round trip), and wherever I need to go on the weekends, year round. Engine and chassis have 143k on them (sat for 16 years).
