  1. Yeah, I wanted to do a hood scoop and a bunch of ricer bodywork to make it look off the wall ridiculous, but the whole rally was kind of last minute already as far as our organization, so it didn't happen. I like the idea of the black with diamond plate, but it will really kill the awesome power to weight ratio though, don't you think? Lmao. Try tin foil instead.
  2. I wouldn't expect much fade protection, or any kind of rock chip resistance. We drove it from NY to new orleans and back for the rally and it still looked perfect though. Seriously though... $50 Who cares. I'd like to change my car color every month, nevermind year.
  3. I'd use POR-15 for rust... Not exactly cheap, but not a bad deal for what it does. I just got their gas tank restoration kit yesterday.
  4. It's not a Z, but we spraypainted this one last year for the big apple to big easy rally. A decent amount of prep work, and you can make it look halfway decent. For $50 it's better than nothing. Expect to re-do it yearly though.
  5. Miller lite beats Mexican piss 2 to 1 in my recent taste test. Hong Kong Phooey Or McGruff?
  6. I only checked this thread because I seriously didn't think it deserved as many a's and h's. Wow... It does. I bet it's at least 2 full seconds slower than stock. But with those tires I bet the top speed is about 380 mph. Too bad the stickers don't even give it enough power to get there Isn't that the lowrider mascot guy there in the hatch? 'nuff said.
  7. I used to transport kegs with my miata... They fit nicely on the deck behind the seats. I drove around for longer than I needed to because of the "how the ♥♥♥♥?" expression on peoples faces. I don't have any pics here on my laptop. I'll see if I can find some on monday.
  8. i'm 6'-0" and about 230 lbs. I fit fine. I probably look out of place in the car, but I never felt like it.
  9. Still works fine for me. It's friday morning, 10:00am. If it still doesn't work for you, go to NYC Craigslist, cars and search for "1988 mustang V8 convertable stick - $1000"
  10. I'd point at the miata... If you can deal with the "girl car" thing. Mine was a big P.O.S. But I loved it. Click if you want anti-miata motivation.
  11. Who has the title? Before you do anything figure out a reasonable "storage charge" per day. When the time stored passes the value of the car is the time that i'd be able to go before selling it and have no problems with my actions. $25 a day sounds about right to me. So say if you sold it for $1000, 41 days and I'd be putting it in the paper. Legally I think you're safe right now if you wanted to get rid of it. He had a responsiblilty to pick it up. He didn't.
  12. http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/pts/332164218.html Not mine, no affiliation. Looks like a good donor though.
  13. Yeah... It's not a practical car for me. I hope to have it done before the summer actually gets underway. Otherwise I won't be able to drive it without a coat until next year. No windows, window mechanicals, blower motor, ductwork, heater controls, or any of that fancy stuff you need when you have a roof.
  14. Have you driven any z32's? It was my dream car when i was about 16-17. I got a 1990 NA 5 speed in a trade for my turbo miata. It wasn't in perfect condition, but it ran and drove fine. It looked fairly good too. My opinion: Biggest letdown ever. The car felt fat and sloppy. The power was nothing special. The engine is shoehorned in too tight. (I'd hate to work on a Turbo) Take into consideration that it had about 160k miles on it, and was not a TT, so it's not a direct comparison. But test drive it first. I wish I had a day with the car instead of a quick test drive in the rain. Doesn't almost $10k for a car with over 100k miles sound a lot high? The car does look very clean, and sounds like the price i'd want if I was selling it, but you can buy a lot of car for about $10k.
  15. I'm looking into powdercoating the spokes with a polished lip on the stock wheels. Hopefully I can find someone local with a 1 or 2 day turnaround time. Otherwise i'm going to look stupid puling the old spare swap trick until they are all done. Only question is how I do it... The spokes black with the black cutting into the polished part to follow the indent of the wheel? Or do I have the polished outer lip flow in a circle cutting off the powdercoat at the line of the lip? like in the top spoke on this pic. On both the whole spoke would be black, I just didn't want to merge my lines with the shadows in the pic. I'm not using MS paint for the finished product, so don't worry. I'm pretty impressed by the handling so far. I was starting to think that I wouldn't be happy driving anything that doesn't handle like an unnamed 2200 lb. Rwd convertible... And 6th gear pull from 60-90 mph (and beyond) is so responsive I don't bother shifting down into 5th.
  16. Last summer i was driving a miata... trust me you're not hurting my feelings any, lol. It was turbo, but I still heard it all with that car. It's worse to have your ass kicked by a girl car, than to be driving it. (At least that's what I tell myself as I cry my way to sleep every night.)
  17. Yes, it's AWD... Quattro is the name of the Audi AWD system. But asking if it's awd or front wheel drive isn't too out of line if you're not familiar with audi. The chips are great bang for the buck upgrades. These cars have a pretty decent aftermarket.
  18. Thanks, Yeah it's been a rough winter for the Z. My daily kept needing work, my friend sucks at life, and my girlfriend takes up a lot of time. I gave my friend a brand new set of 18's with brand new tires because he blew a tire and was running on the spare already. The deal was that he would do some bodywork on the Z in exchange for a good chunk of $ off of what I paid for the wheels, and since I was helping him out by giving him the wheels with no $ upfront. That was around september, and since then he molded 1 of my wide front fenders (Which he didn't even finish) and has given me $0.00. It was dumb on my part, but one of my friends needed help, since I could lend a hand, I did. It got bit... Hope to have it out for a Z drive in NY before the end of the summer. If not i'll have to bring the TT to check out the Z's.
  19. Picked it up Saturday. 2003 Audi TT Coupe. Quattro, 6 speed, 225hp. I've had it since saturday, I love it. It's going to be hard resisting modding this instead of the Z. I just wish it was RWD. Now that I don't have to work on my daily driver this summer i'll have time to put into my Z. I'm mad at myself for not being able to get anything done over the winter. Here are the pics:
  20. For a $70,000 nissan it better do something right... I still think nissan is a day late, a buck short on bringing the Skyline here. Maybe that's just sour grapes because it will take 10 years of depreciation for a used one to come down to my price range.
  21. Looks like there's more room to work on it than with the VG also...
  22. I wouldn't call it worthless... if you know what info you're getting. It's by no means a know-all end-all service. It's good to use loosely. If something comes up, at least you know you've got issues. If nothing comes up, well your issues are hidden better. You're right though, for the most part. If you run a carfax thinking its a god that sees everything (like 90% of their customers) you're in for a suprise or two. So anyway, I picked up the 944 (Black on Black, Black tint). Runs well, handles good. I am confused though... It handles well for an 80's car, but... well it's not exactly living up to the porsche handling hype. I didn't exactly buy it either... I traded my 300zx for it and a mitsubishi starion. The 944 is soooo much nicer to drive than the 300zx. I'm very happy with it. I'll post pics as soon as I get it washed up.
  23. It says 16 records, but those are usually mileage reports at inspections, and when the vehicle changes owners... I hope.
