  3. So I finally found some time to take a look at this again. Took both the carbs off and there's no clogs. When the float hits the needled the carb does its job. Could the level of fuel inside the float bowl prevent the car from starting? This thing is completely stumping me. Guess ill have to throw everything back on and check the timing like said above.

  5. I did check the compression. 120 all across the board. I did take apart one of the float bowls and one of them was pretty empty. I've never been too knowledgeable about carbs but im pretty sure there's supposed to be a specific amount of fuel inside the bowl at all times?
  6. So I recently got back into the Z game and picked another one up. I drove this thing to work and back 30 miles every day for a few weeks. I go out of town for the weekend and as soon as I get back I hop in it and it starts and runs for about 30 seconds then just shuts off. Now it just completely refuses to start. Checked all the normal things. It's getting spark and it is pumping fuel out of the line just before entering the carb. It is an l24 with the dual su carbs. Should I be looking for a certain thing? Is it most likely the carbs? I really would like to drive this thing again. I did noticed while it was running that taking off from first gear, if I did not rev it up a bit the car would just sputter off the line with no power if that helps any?

  10. Probably a bit of both. I would do the -32 but Id rather be able to solve a problem with spacers rather than screwing myself over with a wheel that sticks out too much haha
  11. Thanks for the input gentlemen but it looks like I am going with the 15x10 -25 with a 5mm slip spacer just to be safe.
  12. I am going to be ordering some diamond racing wheels here pretty soon and was looking to run a 15x10 all around on a 75 with zg flares. I am just looking for anyone on here that has done so and would like to know what backspace/offset you ran and pictures of said car would be great too.

  14. So today im outside and I smell fuel. I look under the Z and theres a huge puddle of it. It was leaking from the bottom of the carb and it was also leaking what looked to be coolant from the intake manifold. Blown headgasket? I did a compression test a few days ago and it was 120 all across the board...
  15. So I took the carb apart again and checked the banjo bolt and filter. No clogs there. I can blow air through and it goes from the nipple right into the float bowl. Any other things I should try to look? I need this thing running!

  17. So my car has been running just fine lately and I left it sitting since Friday. I go out to start it today and it runs for about 30 seconds then just stumbles to a stop. Now all it does is cranks over. It is getting spark at all the spark plugs. I removed the fuel line leading into the carbs (twin draft su's) and it is pumping out fuel. I then removed the cover on the side of the carb that has the black floater inside of the small tank and it seemed a bit dry. So I am thinking that needle is not allowing fuel into the carb? But I am wondering if this seems logical that it would go bad all of a sudden just like that? Or maybe it is something common that I may not be aware of and some of you may know? Just looking for some helpful input.
  18. I am looking to buy a 240z in the southern California area. Needs to be running and it does not need to be the cleanest thing. Clean as in paint. I'd rather no major dents or rust. Full interior would be nice as well. If anyone is interested I'd like to trade my 79 xs650 bobber project plus cash (depending on the shape of your car) for a 240z. Let me know!   19. Looking back at these pictures I really regret not swapping in a new motor and slamming this thing. Should have never sold it. It is good to see people that know what they are doing fitment wise with zx's nowadays. If I remember correctly they were 15x10 -40 all around.
