  1. dang, $2600...that's more than I payed for the car, motor, transmission, vortec heads, rebuild kit, and a 383 stroker kit......I will have to think about that....wouldn't happen to want to do a sponsorship would you??? lol
  2. I am building a 300 zx with a 350 sbc and i want it to be the a great car for both the street and the track. After all the help i have gotten from this site i have decided to go efi, automatic transmission, thinking about a 383 stroker, puts ome juice on it, some performance heads, and in the long run i want to get around 400-500 hp. But i want to know what other people are working on. What engine are you tring to build and what is it's purpose. What made you want to go the routes that you are going? When do you plan on being done with your project? I know it sounds weird, but i want to know and who knows, maybe someone will make this a sticky so people can see what everyone else is doing.
  3. dang y'all, that was the most information that i have ever gotten from a thread. just wondering, i am REALLY good with computers, but when it comes down to wiring and all that fun stuff.....ain't going to happen. if i paid someone to run the ecu and all that fun stuff around how much would it probably cost? and who makes the best ecu's? i want the most power possible, and i realize that i can get alot more power through the ecu's because of all the tuning options. If i get someone to run the wires and all that fun stuff i will be able to tune it myself, i always have my laptop with me, and i can learn just about anything that involves a computer, but i would have to get someone else to wire up everything for me. thank you once again.
  4. what sensors and ecu should I get? where would be the best place to get them? do they make performance ecu's or power chips that will work for this swap??? thank you
  5. I have been trying to find out what woul be the best route for the most power? carb, throttle body, or fuel injected? I can't find anything definite on it all. would someone please give me a pros/cons list. thanks for the help.
  6. i found this on google, and i basically shows you alot of what has to be done for a swap. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7518555781716185118&q=300zx+chevrolet let me know what you think
  7. ....lol.....rofl.....that is why i make very little reference to any admin on ANY forums that i go to....good luck vincent.
  8. either that or a turbo 350, one or the other, which one do you suggest?
  9. I am thinking of using a turbo 400, it has been suggested a few times and it sounds like a good idea.
  10. is there any full fledged write up on a 350 swap including what side parts will be needed? also, someone suggested that I might want to put a new rear-end on the zx to be able to hold the extra power. is this a valid suggestion? if so what is a good rear end to use?
  11. that was one of the best burnouts i have seen in a long time.
  12. yeah, this is a 300zx, and when i'm done it'll hopefully be great, but until then it is going to have me VERY confused. lol. i don't beliee there are any driveshaft shops around here, and if they are they don't advertise as that. lol. I don't know an extreme amount about the working of cars, but i have always loved Zs and power. it's a good thing my buddy has built 350s and done engine swaps before, i think i am gonna owe him big time when we are done with this thing.
  13. Okay, i know that for a 350 sbc swap you need a motor/transmission and motor mounts plus lots of time/money/dedication. Just wondering, what all else is needed? What kind of radiator, what driveshaft, etc. What all will i need from the stock zx? I am planning on going with an automatic tranny (for comfort), a 2 speed if i can find one. I don't know if i want to go carbed or FI. What will i need for either route? Please help me piece together all of this. I greatly thank everyone in this community for all of the advice i have already recieved for this project.
  14. i have just read this entire thread from front to back and i would just like to say that you are an inspiration to people who are beggining their projects. I am only doing a 350 sbc swap, but i still can not wait to start, and even more to finish it. I can't wait to see some time slips and some dyno numbers on your car. Congratulations
  15. lol, that's one of the reasons that i have decided to go with the sbc. The guy who had this car before me was a retard, the oil pressure light turned on one morning, he parked it, then wound up yanking the motor, and neglected to tell me that he had sold the turbo before he sold me the car.....WTF? I got the motor, and all kinds of parts that came out of it when he yanked it, but no turbo........but yeah. i will probably sell the motor, all that is really wrong with it, to my knowledge, is that the oil pump died. But he didn't tell me that he sold the turbo, so i am sure there is something else he neglected to tell me. lol. it is a good core for a rebuild, i am sure of that. But yeah, if you are interested in that let me know. lol
  16. thank you all for your help. I have actually decicded to go with a 350 sbc for a couple reasons. 1) I can get one from a buddy for $100. 2) I can get a friend to rebuild it for free. 3) I can get the transmission from the junkyard down the road and get my buddy to build that up as well. 4) As long as I help on the install and pay for the parts fabrication my buddy won't charge me for the install. 5) In the end it will cost less to get more power out of that motor. 6) If, God forbid. I ever blow that motor up, I can get it rebuilt for a lot cheaper than a vg30et. once again, thank you for all the help. See you on the other forums.
  17. i was actually planning on trying to talk to you. i was wondering, with this setup and how much stronger this engine is than the vg30et, what radiator do i use? i plan on going carb, and manual. i want to make this car something that doesn't turn peoples heads when they hear about it, but snaps their necks when they see it leave from a stoplight. I want to make this car GREAT. I am not to worried about the looks of the car right now, simply because if i do it right, i can take it to the track, win some nice money, and then put that back into the car. Repeat a couple of times and get the car looking as nice as it runs.
  18. dang, that sounds REALLY impressive. around how much of that $5000 is in the motor? what do you think the hp on it is? would you be able to post any pictures of it?
  19. conrats my friend. I am about to start my project. and you made me want to get started much soonerthan I am able to. I hope to begin my swap right after christmas so I won't have to worry about money. and on that note, I am just wondering, how much did your swap end up costing you and how long did it takeyou to complete. not trying to be nosy, but just trying to find out how long my wallet is going to be in a coma. once again, congratulations on your success.
  20. thanx much. sent him an email hopefully he'll reply
  21. thanks much, just wondering, what is a magneto? i have never heard of that. if i don't go that route, will i be able to use the ecu for the 350 or will i have to use another route?
  22. actually, i found one that seems like it will be helpful. Would anyone be willing to tell me their experiences with a 350 and around how much fabrication will be needed, also around how much money everything wound up costing in the end???? Thank you all very much
  23. lol, wish i could find one of those. Just wondering, what is the better route. i know that both the 350 sbc and the vg30et can reach very high power levels, but unfortunately i am not a millionaire. so which would be better? getting a new vg30et, or a 350 sbc. one of my buddies has a 350 and i could get it off of him for pretty cheap, and he knows how to build a motor, so i know it will be DAMN good, plus as long as i'll help he'll put the motor in for free. i have to pay for all the extra parts and stuff that we have to pay to be fabbed up. but how much would that stuff cost? and is it well worth it? i am VERY thankful for everyone's feed back.
  24. Hi all, i am trying to research all of my options, and i was telling my friend about the fact that a 350 can fit in a 300. And he amazed me when he told me that he had an already built 350 at his house, and i could talk to his father to find out how much he wanted for it. He said that if i wanted to, i would have 2 pay for the fabricated parts and all that fun stuff, but that he would put it in for free as long as i was there to help. So, can anyone tell me where to find a write-up or anything to put a 350 in? i used the search function, but the newest one i found was back from 2005, and it was for a 91. That's all well and good, except that i am going to be putting it in an 86. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  25. I live in sumter sc. its an okay little town. we have a lot of racers, but no strip so that sux. thank you for all of your help. it is just really annoying that I can't find a full jdm one.
