WOOT welcome to the RB goodness !
-
Is the stock RB alternator really so bad that it can't handle the amperage of a 30+ year old car?
Its not really that but more the fact that a 2 speed taurus fan draws alot of amps and other mods like fuel pumps ,sound systems etc In my book more amps is always better as long as you have descent wiring.
-
I guess if they work on VQ's they could work on RB's but 10 hp gains ? not sure the gains on the VQ are their because of its plenum design the RB i dont know someone would have to try it i guess id like the fact that it acts as a heat buffer. It can be find for 70 $ not so bad.

Keep up the great work I need motivation to ! I am in a bit of hold up since im waiting for cash to come in and im doing stuff that dont cost a thing but are very unpleasant to do. I am removing the sound deadner and this jobs sucks. Reading build threads of projects like mine makes it a bit easier to get the job done.
My condolences for you and your family.

The bell is on i did torque it FSM says 23-31 ft-lb . The tranny is going in a 78 280z I am using a Z32 box on a RB26 belhousing its not in the car yet and im starting to wonder if my McKinney trans mount will work with that . Ill have to check the mesurements for the shifter locaton but i dont have the RB25 shifter position form let say bellhousing to center of shifter . Them its just going to be a hack job on the z32 shifter braquet to make it fit.

Yes spot on its also adjustable from 10% to 100% and has a speed sensor that fits by the front wheel.
That is uber cool where did you buy that is it a retro fit or some universal kit ?

Yes it is a J70

Sorry Dwarlick no hostile tone here. I just think it's BS for a rbz going for 36k and not even running.
There is nothing wrong with making money. If I was to sell mine I would want to get as much as I could. Just wait now you will see every Joe blow trying to get top dollar. And that will drive the parts up. Just look at the American muscle cars. I remember not to long ago that you could pick up a nice mustang, gto,Nova SS roller for cheap and now you can't touch a rust bucket for less than 10k
This is very true for muscle cars we even saw something like that in Canada when Drifting started being more popular. Rust buckets 240sx and corolla's going for ungodly amounts of money but now it stabalized. I dont know about the situations of muscle car but i think it will balanced out in the end The S30 is so rare that it wont be as popular as muscle cars rusted Z's are mostly worthless unless you have the money to fix it but a rusted 69 mustang is still very reusable since the steel is of better quality. I dont know what to think of this im not sure it will raise the prices that much maybe for Z's but not for RB parts they are already mainstream so price are already where they at.

I think that there is nothing anyone can do to prevent someone from selling something at a ridiculously high price (not saying knuckle`s car was priced to high) its all a matter of what someone is willing to pay for the car . People with loads of money would buy anything at any price anyway but for an average Joe its all about asking yourself would I be better off doing the whole build or buying the car already build for me. I know for sure that my RB26Z when its done and (if I was out of my mind) if wanted to sell it it wouldnt be for under 30k with all the time and the parts "I" think its worth that. Plus you cant blame Knuckle's to try and make a little more money .

Any bloc heater would work to warm the water and an oil heater like shown above would be great some bloc heater warms the water so much that the engine is hot to the touch . Thats what i have on my truck for our cold northen Canadian winters .
-
Great project ! The RB20 is so underated its a great engine and its very easy to turn into a RB24 just by dropping a RB26 crank and piston . Keep up the great work !

I need money ! cant wait to order mine its the only part I have left to by to put the engine in the car !
-
New old stock has them check the post above you . Great quality I heard .
-
The install PDF you posted wheelman doesnt work anymore ? Anyway to have it somewhere please id like to take a look at it .
Thanks
-
What gauge steel did you use ? Great setup btw !
-
If you can put some inside the rear holes behind the seats like we see on picture 2 and everywhere you see rust it will prevent further damage .
-
Be carefull when you remove the steel flap tab because theirs a bearing at the end of a spri ng so it could (stay on like my rb ) or fall inside the tranny ( like my z32 box) it fell in the drain pan so i had to fetch it . I still need to find the torque spec ,ill post them when I find them
-
Its all done just need a new front cover gasket and to torque everything down and thats it .
-
I went back to the garage and that was it ! Thank you all and specially you Mr Soileau
-
Nope I did not ill try that

From what I red in the sticky their are 2 dowel pins to remove . At first when I removed the front plate and the 2 snap ring i taped on the bellhousing and it wasnt coming off completely then I went back to the computer to check the sticky and thats when i saw the dowel pin . I went back to the garage and checked the shifter rod to find it had moved forward the same length of what I had the housing off ,so about 3/4 inch . I tried to removed the pin I circled but nothing seems to do the tric. BTW Its rb26 bell going to be on a z32 of course .
I picked up a new sheetmetal brake and other toys for building these oil pans
