  2. the only things i rebuild are starters... alternators the kits that u can get its just cheaper for r cars to just get a new alternator pep boys 40$

  4. it kinda sounds like a bad alternator... a friend of mine had the same problem on his 86 F-150 and the alternator was just putting out enough back to the battery but bearly....

Hi all im about to buy a L28E and its in ehhh condition came out of a running 280z from what i was told but hes selling for 100$ and i want to build a motor of my own, i was thinking if i did get it if i where to rering it, new gaskets, new waterpump and things like that, highperformance oilpump, and ms, and full port and polish... would this be good upgrades for at least 200+ hp? is this doable on a somewhat cheap foundation?
  6. Yea u know one thing u might really want to duble check???? The afm where the intake hose goes over it... mine came loose and it ran like ♥♥♥♥ kept dyin...

If thers an exhaust leak check where the exhaust manifold hits that down pipe before the cat... mine snaped in half... take like 10 min to weld back up... 2 other guys i know said thats where theyer leak was... and when i got my z i kinda had tha same problem... check all plugs they can tell u alot about how its running...

  10. I got pissed and pulled it out and found out that tha alternator was DONEZO! lol it was pushin maybe a volt and the amps where real real real low.... so i had to get another one and now my volts are right at 15, before they where in the red in the volts meter....
  11. yea for a sec. i was like WTF? a 2.5 inch pipe for high performace exhaust for a turbo?
  12. Ok took the bat. to autozone and they said tha battery is good just low charge... so... i guess that means that is my alternator cuz my fusable links arnt blown, nor is anything else from what i can see....
  13. Im have a question... with the "turbo exhaust" from MSA is that for a na car? Because 2.5 inch is used for na cars if im not mistaken... unless this is a weird z thing....

  15. Hahahah yea the alternator is a bitch to get ot off the z's dam PS and rad. hose.... and haveing a low low low car lol doenst help but yea do u guys think i should get a new starter as well? But i do believe my starter is good but i always hear once u get a new alt. u need a new starter....

  17. Yea that sux ass man i just replaced the dam thing maybe 2 months ago... its weird 2 and tha thing is really hard to take out... oh well i guess ill be spending tha day takin that dam thing out....

Well heres the deal... i get in my car after gettin 4 hrs later on x mas eve and get in my car and start her up and the volts show low like 13.... on the meter and the light comes on as well it was dimm then get brighter... as time went on i got to a all time low of 9 volts.... and i make it home thank god but my question is what the hell could it be i replaced the battery, and alternator, i did add fog lamps and i mounted them under the bumper and set them up but putting the pos to the pos bat. termanal and the ground to the chassis and it has a fuse as well... i checked my fusable links and they wernt hot or bert... any ideas? This car is my daily driver.....

  20. I own a 83 280zx... i just want a little more power id like to be in the 200-250ish range if thats possable na.... im new to the z world and what makes big power and what does not if anyone could maybe point me in the right direction that be great!....

Hahahah thanks... well im lookin for atleast 250's i dont want mad power but id like my car to somewhat hold its own... i do alot of highspeed driving lol and ur here and there Auto x, i was told turbo swap was easy and that you could use stock injectors, and electral... i assume that is not true... i really could care less if my cars turboed or not i personally would love to have itb's but who wouldnt.... well my Auto skillz is well i guess up there ive pulled motors alot actully hardest one being a Porshe 944 turbo and a Flat 4 out of this old ass imprezza... im a auto 5 student at my highshool and ive had to pull out my tranny and reinstall it 8 times and on a lift with 2 other people to un bolt ♥♥♥♥ i can get it done under 2hrs if that... and by my self in about 3.5 hrs. Money range is well maybe 2500 -4000 more for making my own braces and more power...? On power increse, i herd swaping out guts in a turbo maf helps with power and 240sx (which i use to own... thank god not any more...)tb. and port matching it will help alot with power....

  24. Its a 83 i think its a E88? not 100% on that but i do plan on swapin for a p90a..... i hear better flow....
