I'm in for 1, maybe 2, for S30 with SBC. I would also like johnc's mounting brackets:mrgreen:
-
Looks good, Dale. I had a set on my 240 before I had it repainted and this is making me want to put them back on:grin:
-
They were in the neighborhood of $200 each. Sorry, I don't remember the exact cost...
-
I was in touch with the owner a few years ago... through an interpreter. Those fenders are definitely fabricated.
-
I just checked the stickers on the new fenders sitting in my garage for my 280. 63100-N4700 is what I have for the passenger side.
-
I was working in the front (fixed some lighting issues), and noticed that there were two bolt holes on either side of the grill opening, below the hood hinges that looks to line up with the bumper. I am assuming that the early bumper bracket bolted into these holes. Is that a correct assumption?
I may just make a new bracket to mount the bumper.
Still would like to see some pictures of the OEM parts if at all possible.
That's correct on those bolt holes. You can bend some flat stock pretty easily to match up to the older style bumpers and those holes, rather than buying the nissan brackets.
And I unfortunately can't seem to find the pics that I had of the two types of bumpers. Sorry...
-
I've read about people doing that, but haven't seen any pictures that show the differences, do you have any?
I'll check to see if I can find some pics, but the bumper for the earlier cars fits much closer to the body. I'm sure it fits as you think your current bumper should. I know when I swapped, I was much happier with the look.
I remember taking a pic of the two bumpers to compare, but don't know if that pic survived. I'll check my old pc to see if I still have it. If I find anything, I'll post it here, but give me a few days to look.
If you do go that route, you'll need to switch to the earlier style mounting brackets. I saw mention of cutting the '73 brackets above, but it's easier to make new ones (just bend some flat stock and drill a few holes).

On my '73, I replaced the front bumper with one for a '70-'72 car.

I thought so too. Hard on 3 is like expert on 2.
Mario
Agreed... reign in blood is still kicking my ass on hard. Guitar on rock band, even on expert, is easy compared to gh3.

I love that car..menacing in the condition it is...love it!
Yasin
Thanks, Yasin. My neighbors absolutely hate it, which is why it stays in the driveway and not in the garage

I've had nothing but good communication with Juan. I received my front brake kit recently and the quality of these parts is great, as usual.
Hope your situation gets resolved.

That's awesome, Dale!! How far is the commute to work?
-
Very cool color:-)
-
I just measured my 300ZX flanges and they are 0.5" thick.
-
Very cool! Congrats, man:cheers:

Can you post more pictures of your car? The one you posted has me itching to find out how that front looks from other angles...
That Z pic is of my 240. I had plenty of pics from different angles in the imagestation album referenced in my signature, but imagestation got shut down. I've been planning to put the pics back up on another service, but haven't found the time to do so.

very nice, clean car. i wish my '78 looked as good. i agree with the others. ditch the chrome wheels for the silver sportmax 002's.
-
I've heard from him. I ordered a front wilwood brake upgrade kit from him a little while back. I emailed him yesterday on status and he responded last night. He said my kit was going to be shipped soon.

I started with a hammer and a the edge of a small block of wood to get the edges moving, then moved to baseball bat. I used the wheel and tire as leverage for the bat. If you're worried about your paint, this isn't the best way to do it.
Recently, however, i got a good deal on a fender lip roller and went back over my original work with it. This tool works much better if you can find one. You can also supposedly use a heat gun on the lip to keep from killing the paint. I wasn't really worried about this on mine.

What type of suspension are you running? I am thinking of running similar wheels. I have tokico hp shocks and tokico lowering springs. Also are those the 16x8 +0 offset wheels? Either way they look great. good luck on your build.
I'm using Suspension Techniques springs and Tokico HP cartridges all around. Your tokico springs will give about the same ride height. the wheels came from the group buy: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118865
To continue on my progress, I did some work this weekend on my fender lips. I didn't originally roll the passenger side as well as the driver's side and was getting some ugly scrapes when the suspension compressed over some bumps in the road.
After this weekend's work to roll the fenders, I no longer have any clearance issues. I've hit some good dips at speeds that would have shredded my tires before, but now I have no issues.
While coilovers are still in my future, my current suspension setup is working for me right now.
