  1. Ok guys, thanks for the info. I guess I'll start roaming the slavage yards. Unless someone here has got what I need.
  2. I have a L28ET that is out of an automatic car. I am putting a 5 speed behind it. Can I use a 240 or 260 flywheel behind it? And can I use the clutch and pressure plate from a 240 or 260 Z as well? Thanks.
  3. You know what I think about all of this. A big mistake many shops make when rebuilding trannys is not replacing the transmission cooling lines and flushing everything out. I used to rebuild and test transmissions for Aaron's Automotive. Very large reman plant. Anyway, we would get transmissions sent back to us saying we didn't build them right blaa blaa blaa. Well alot of times it was the shop installing them and not replacing the lines and flushing the cooler out. What happens then is the sluge in the lines and cooler get pumped into the newly rebuilt tranny. And in short time plug up the valvebody and other parts. I have seen this hundreds of times. That shop could have also not rebuilt it right from the get go. You might ask them if they replaced the cooler lines and flushed out the cooler before they installed the tranny. Anyway...my 2 cents. If you feel brave try taking the valvebody apart and reclean it. There are alot of small parts to it so be careful. You might even be able to buy a rebuilt vavlebody. That should not be to hard to replace. Drop the pan and there it is. Good luck in whatever you choose.
  4. Your webpage is not working. At least I can't get it to work.
  5. Hahaha...see I told you it was the Aliens. Damn little green men.
  6. This kill did not happen in my Z(still in pieces). I was driving my 94 Probe GT. I pulled up behind a CRX at the light, next to it was a Del Sol. They were both reving at each other like crazy. A smile pulled across my face and I wished this road had another lane. The light turns green and they're off. I switched lanes and got behind the Del Sol as he passed the CRX. Then as soon as I cleared the CRX I switched lanes again. I then procceded to reel in the Del Sol. It was so funny seeing the look on their faces as I passed each of them. The Del Sol must not have learned his lesson, for at the next light he was wanting another piece of me. I thought...wasn't it bad enough that I beat you while you were racing someone else and had a head start on me. Well needless to say he got spanked again...badly! The sad thing is my Probe GT is not all that fast. Its quick but not "fast". And here I thought Del Sols were sports cars. At least thats what the local rice claim. I wish I still had my 300+HP Mustang, then they would know what fast is.
  7. It's an alien conspiracy, haven't any of you ever watched the X-files?
  8. Thanks for the replys. I think I'll go ahead and put the Turbo engine in if I can come up with the wiring and ECU. I will still drop in a V8...it just might take longer.
  9. Could I see about 8 psi without an IC? I am trying to put together something on the cheap side for now.
  10. I bought Alsil's x member...it's well built.
  11. I want to know just how fast a 240Z can be with a mostly stock 280ZX Turbo engine. I am just dying to get my Z up and running. I am working on gathering parts for a V8 conversion but, until that happens, I would like to drive my Z. So... I have a 1982 280Z Turbo engine laying around, why not drop that in until the V8 gets built. I want to know if it's really worth the trouble. I will have to drop some cash into to get it working. But! I don't want to bother with it if it's not gonna at least out run 5.0 Mustangs. I also have an 80 or 80 5 speed and a 3.90 R200. So with all of these parts...can I out run the 5.0s? Thanks!
  12. Have you read the article on how to build a 400HP 302 for under $2500? After I get my Z car up and running(trying to get ahold of a 5.0 engine) I will use that article to help me build a more powerful engine in the next year or so. I might not go as high as 400HP. But then again...
  13. I am trying to remember...I think the 352 is in the FE family of motors. Right? If so, it's a big block engine and might not fit very well. I think that they were a good engine. I believe my friend had one before. They can be made to have a lot of power, but again, I think its a big block and might be a tight fit and on the heavy side.
  14. A really BIG hammer! Ha ha... Not sure really. Good luck with it all. If you get this done you'll have to post lots of pics. I think a 351W will fit...they can be made into 427 cubic inch engine.
  15. Got another question for the Ford guys here. Can the stock fuel tank be made to work with a fuel injected 5.0? Can I add bigger fuel outlets from the tank. It is already out of the car and has been cleaned and sitting for about a year now. I was thinking of, maybe drilling out the old fuel line and tapping/epoxying in a larger one. What are some of the things you have done?
  16. So a V6 T-5 won't hold up to a stock 5.0? Even if it is mostly street driven? I might have to try and stuff that C6 in there some how. That or try and find a V8 T-5.
  17. Can anyone tell me what the gear ratios in a C6 trans are? I can't seem to remember. It came off a 351W small block. I am starting to wonder if the V6 5 speed might have to low of gears. But I guess if I use a 3.36 it might be ok. Does anyone know off hand what came stock in a 1971 240Z with a 4 speed? Oh, and Terry...I would still like to see your car some day. Just not sure when that'll happen.
  18. Well thanks for all the info. What I'll most likely do is leave in the R180 that came with the car. It should hold up to the 5.0 ...shouldn't it? At least for a while. I'll get a feel for it and see if I need to drop in one if my other diffs. I am still not sure what tire and rim size I'll be running. If I get the 5.0 enigne I am working out a deal on it will come with a 5 speed. I think he said it was off of a V6. He said it would work with the right pilot bearing. I think that it has a lower 1st adn 2nd than the V8 5 speed. But I think that's all I will have to work with. I also have a "built" C6 that I was considering. Along with a rachet shifter. Not sure if the C6 will fit. Does anyone know how much bigger it is than a C4? Thanks for the help. Jason
  19. Is your gauge working right? Just wondering? Also, make sure the pvc pipe is not slowing down your water flow rate. Just some thoughts. Good luck. P.S. shoulda' bought a Ford. Haha...just kidding.
  20. Just thought I'd add something. Your engine? You said it was rebuilt recently? Have you gave thought to the possiblity that an old freeze plug could be partily blocking your water passage? I have seen this happen before. Where someone pounded the old freeze plug into the engine and couldn't get it out/or forgot about it. Then built the engine and wondered why it was overheating. Just my 2 cents...ok ok, I'll go back to the Ford forum. Anyway, good luck!
  21. Those of you running Ford engines...say like a mostly stock 5.0 HO. What is the ideal gear ratio to have? I have several difs laying around, two or 3 R180s and a couple of R200s. I have an R180 in the car now. I think it is the original. So it has what? 3.5 or 3.3 gear ratio? I know one of the R200s I have is a 3.9 gear ratio. Would this be to low? The car will see mostly street action and little highway use. Any thoughts and/or recomendations would be of great help. Thanks! Jason
  22. I am doing a V8 swap to my 240Z but, until I get my engine built it's just sitting here. I happen to have a complete 280ZXT engine just laying around. Maybe I could drop it in and with a few mods get into the 12s? What year did that intercooler come out of?
  23. There are three types of 351 engines. The 351W is a small block, while the 351C and 351M are big blocks. So, I think that is what you were wanting to know. Oh wait, I am not sure if all of them were ever an option or not.
  24. Dang ...an I'm wanting to do that to a 351W...the twin turbo not the blowing up part.
  25. Interesting idea. I have a Ford Maverick that does that. I am going to take a look at how it works and maybe come up with some ideas. I have my rear windows out of my Z car right now...I dont' see why someone can't modify them to hinge. Maybe I can use the hinges off a Maverick even. Hmmmmmm.... you got me thinking about this now. You would have to use a seal between the window and car that was on the thin side so it wouldn't make the window stick out to much. Or, cut out the window mounting area and recess it inward a bit. Things get tricky from here. But your idea is a good one.
