  1. Ya thats my next item to buy, tires! I give them a good slide every once in a while. P.S. I only drift in tokyo....(Thats a joke)
  2. Yup they are for N/A's! Kind of confusing how they name it that though
  3. How did you know...hahahaha EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is the first exhaust Ive put together.
  4. Just installed my msa aluminum turbo exhaust kit (2 1/2 inch) earlier this morning. Here are some pics, tell me what you think. I chose to forget the long "S" pipe and just mount the tip straight off the muffler to get away from the stock exhaust look and move more toward the classic Z look. Also the muffler is at an angle for a reason.
  5. Now i know im going to sound like a noob but I searched all over the site and couldnt find anything. My question is, what is the purpose of those little vents beheind the windows on first gen z's. Ive heard a bunch of things that sound kind of rediculious and i just want to clear it up.
  6. Hahaha.... I like the first line. I have a friend thats really into civics, i think im gonna pull that one on him.
  7. You sound like you know what your talking about so why dont you build one.
  8. In a way I wish nissan would re-manufature the 240z and sell them at the dealerships. It would create a surplus of parts for us Z owners and keep Z's on the road but at the same time it would be a bad decision. It would make the work of many dedicated Z owners go overlooked. We all try hard to keep our Z's in good shape. Now that I am restoring a 76' 280z I realize what Z owners are all about. Its our job to keep these cars on the road.
  9. Ya I saw some kid today, a little younger than myself at a stoplight and he was driving a 280zx as well. I could tell he was in to Zs because he was looking the whole time he was making his turn. I was going to give hime a wave but the cr-v in front of me took about 20 sec to move after the light changed.
  10. Just got our enclosure up for the car. It is a 20' x 10' so it gives us plenty of room to work in (at night) from here on out. Right now I am working on replacing the fuel system so I can get it started. The tank is going to get a wash in order to remove all of the reddish sludge inside. Also I think we are going to start sanding down the paint in order to get rid of all the rust on the body and give it a quck rattle can paint job to prevent from further rust. More Pics and vids soon!
  11. I know this probobly doesnt help but its probobly not a good idea if the Z is your daily driver. If you say you do not know how to pull the engine then I am not sure if you should try to switch your N/A to a turbo as it is your daily driver. However we are in the same situation engine-wise, I too am looking to turbo charge my engine. I think I am just going to swap the whole thing, seems to be less problems that way and expandablility is enormous. Good luck, and be careful with which way you choose!
  12. Well, I picked up the car today with a couple of friends and found out it was a 76' not a 75'. Looks like I will be swapping the L28ET so it will smog ok. Anyway heres some pick of the car. Not bad for $275! First im going to replace all of the fuel system so i can get it running after 16 years, while fixing all of the rust and painting it. Exterior is nice some rust here and there but all surface. Interior is all going to be replaced and floor pans are going to do the same This is what happens when the steering wheel locks up when removing the car from the trailer. Pushed my dad through a 10 inch wood post and snapped it in half and cracked my friends head all while bending the door hinge.
  13. Hmmmm.... I live in placer county and i think for my area code they only need to test for fumes.....ill go see tomorrow. Thanks for your help!
  14. Thats what i thought.... that is so dissapointing... Could i do the l28et swap and still pass? Smog stuff confuses the crap out of me
  15. Hi, I was looking at the website smogcheck.com and I am very confused as to which year is the cut off date for smoging. I just got a 1976 280z thinking it was a 75 (big complicated story beheind this one) and i was wondering if 1976 cars are smog exempt? I was planning i putting the l28et motor in this car but if it has to pass smog i dont think it will work. HELP
  16. Tomarrow I will be leaving to pick up my new project car, its a stock 1975 280z in decent cond as far as projects go. The interior is stripped but ll of the parts are there mechanicaly. It hasnt been started in over ten years so I plan to clean the fuel lines, change the oil, change the battery and plugs as well. Hopefully I can get this thing to start up after a bit of work. My friend and I are going to swap a L28et into it or possibly a LT1. Im leaning toward the L28 because we will run into less problems ans still come out with a quick car with a good high end. Ill try and document what I can. Should be fun getting one more z back on the road to dominate the endless amount of civics.
  17. Hi, My friend and I are very interested in purchasing a 240z or 260z and performing the O' so famous (and awesome) V8 swap. I wanted to know what is the best choice in engines as far as ease of swaping and value. We have never swaped an engine before but we plan to take our time and research(and of course, ask a bunch of questions here:wink:). Thanks
  18. I refuse to own any other car thn a Z! You guys can call me a crazy Young'in (Im 18) but the truth is Z owners are a completely different breed than just any other car enthusist. Z owners are proud, even if they are making constant repairs. The history that goes beheind these cars is amazing. You have to admit, these cars are damn good for the price. To me these cars are special, I would take a Z over a porche any day!!!
  19. I wonder how long nissan is going to run with the 350z. They are all over in northern california. I rarely see First gens or other 280zx(s) on the road up here in auburn. Its a shame, but when I do see one I let out a good honk:icon43:!
  20. Sorry for the noobness, but dont they come "made to fit"? What goes into test fitting? .........I forgot to mention, NICE Z! It changed my mind about that kit. I like the decals too!
  21. very interesting guys. That was just something that i was pondering. You think there going to make a 350zx in the future?
  22. And it is a bolt on? (Ive never installed a body kit before) Could i have the body kit painted the same color of my car and then install it or do i have to install it and repaint the whole car?
  23. Maybe a dumb question but...... Why was there never a 300z before the 300zx? What makes it a ZX and what is the meaning beheind that titling?
