  1. HOLY MOLY THAT SOUNDS LIKE A BEAST!!!! Would'nt want to meet that at a stop light haha.
  2. Mine runs great. Daily driver, I get separation anxeity if I can't drive it for extended periods of time.
  3. NKC_280z --- Pretty easy, I live in North Kansas City Missouri (NKC) and when I joined here I had a 280z (currently own a z32). Also the name kinda rolls off the tounge.
  4. Hey guys, I got rid of my 78 and got a 91 300zx twin turbo. I just wanted to post acouple of pictures of the new car . Even though this forum is directed towards older generation z cars it is still the best z fourm around. Even though I don't post that much all I do is read, and read, and read about all the great ideas and knowledge the members here have. I tried 300zxclub out but hated it (not very nice and alot of ricers) so I wanted to keep my loyalty here. The car is basically stock. It has gutted downpipes and midpipes with a Labree exhaust system (sounds very nice, not too loud). A JWT pop charger and is running 11 psi. It has all new urathane bushings and Tokico shocks. It is the best handling car I have ever owned. The rims are 18" ADR M-sport With BFG g-force tires. After I recieved the car I put in a new ACT street disk and pressure plate with a new pilot bearing and throw out bearing. P.S. Sorry for the car being dirty. We have had alot of snow and it is really hard to keep it clean.
  5. Kind of resembles a BMW Z3 to me. It is alittle too crazy for my taste.
  6. The reason why I only drove it around the block twice was because I bought the car just for parts and it had no lisence plates or insurance. I just wanted to make sure the engine was running ok. Thanks everybody for the interest!
  7. Hey guys, just wanted to say that my motor and tranny are for sale on ebay. I got it out of an 83zxt so the CAS is in the distributor. It had 145K on the motor when I got the car and I just drove it around the block twice and then ripped it out. The engine ran fine for the short period of time I drove it. My 280z is also for sale on ebay. I found a 91 300zx twin turbo that I can't pass up so in order to get this car I must sell all my other projects. Hey, at least I am staying in the Z family. I will probably buy another S30 when I have the Z32 paid off. link to engine:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1983-Datsun-Nissan-L28ET-Turbo-Engine-Transmission_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ005QQitemZ150077550354QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW link to car:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-1978-Datsun-280Z-Daily-Driver-Reliable-Nissan-240z-260z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQihZ005QQitemZ150077518705QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  8. 2000 dollars for my 78 280z bone stock, runs great, and has 98,000 original 710 dollars for my 83 280zxt that I bought to do the turbo swap into the 78
  9. I can't help you with a color code but I just wanted to comment and say how beautiful that color is! With the black accents on the car it looks amazing!
  10. I think that would be a very nice and creative theme! It reminds me of a WWII fighter jet (i.e. Swedish air force). The interior of the z has always reminded me of a fighter jet or submarine with it being compact and having all the circular green lit gauges. I like the choice of rims for the project also. I think it brings the exterior of the car together with the rivits on the lip of the rim. It could be a very very nice and unique car if done right. I noticed in the members project section that you are putting an RB in the 240. That will stick to your theme perfectly because when it is all said and done the car really will fly! P.S.- it is too bad that you bought the car from Missouri. I live in Missouri and all the old cars here that have been sitting outside are toast . We have alot of humidity and that just kills the cars here. But it looks like you did ok with all the rust and it sounds like you will have an awesome hybrid z! best of luck to ya!
  11. i have a MSA type three front bumper as well. you can always wire up the foglights that you can buy with the kit to act as driving lights and turn signals. I didn't do it on mine but it is very easy to do.
  12. It is a way better idea to find a whole 280zxt instead of building your N/A for boost. I picked up a 83 280zxt for $700.00 on ebay and it ran when I bought it. I ripped it out, rebuilt it and now I am in the process of putting into my 78. There is ALOT of information on this forum that will step by step walk you through the swap (wiring and everything). I am also a student and have no money and buying a whole zxt parts car is the way to go. Everything you are going to need will be on the car. Also if something else breaks like the slave cylinder or you need a new R200 the part might be the same on the zxt. If you go for boost on the N/A you might run into something that you need but can't find in a junkyard and Nissan doesn't sell anymore. If you are not much of a fabricator then you will be spending more money and have a headache in the process. Just be patient and look for a cheap zxt on www.ebay.com, www.craigslist.com, local newspaper ads, and local junkyards. You would be suprised how fast you can find one if you dig around a bit.
  13. It's nice to see such a beautiful Z semi close to where I am located. Very nice work! (love the rims)
  14. With the way you have it planned in your head you sould have a very nice clean looking z. 13 inch rotors all the way around! that thing will stop on a dime. I had 13 inch drilled and slotted rotors on the front of my mustang with 9 inch drums in the back. Even with only the two rotors that big in the front the thing slowed down very quick. Good luck with the rest of the car!
  15. That car is listed on ebay as well.
  16. very nice paint job! what are your plans for exterior modification? Some ZG flares would look awesome (You can't go wrong with ZG flares on a red Z in my opinion). Good work!
  17. This is the second time i've seen this done with fantastic results!! I am definitely doing this myself when it is time to paint my car!
  18. Haha I love Rube Goldberg devices! Good video Ernie!
  19. chevyz240 - I saw this car on cardomain a couple of years ago and this is the car that got me into z cars in the first place! without you doing this project I would have never have become obcessed with the z car. And for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! -Mike
  20. Awesome thread!! A couple years ago I was looking through some magazines that my grandfather had from the early 80's and I found this. I got this picture off the internet but I have the authentic ad from the magazine hangin on my wall!
  21. I got the rims on ebay for only $300.00 not including tires. But I am looking on ebay right now and can't find those rims again. When I found the rims I had typed in "nissan 17 wheel 4" and they came up.
  22. Hey everyone, my name is Mike and I figured I would post some pictures of the 280. It is Basicly stock (for now) with the exception of the MSA type three front air dam, the absence of the hideous big chrome rear bumper, I painted the chrome side trim black, and the 17x7 BSA rims with 215/45 yokohama es 100's.
