  1. This is an old thread so I'm not sure if anyone visits still. I'm ready to begin welding up my aluminum oil pan based on the top lip of the stock RB26 oil pan. I've got several questions. Why do all of the custom pans jut out where the oil pickup mounts but come back in to the back of the pan, instead of continuing to the back with a wider profile? Is it a matter of more space for the exhaust? What is the oil capacity of the Thagard Speedshop pan?
  2. I'm in the same situation, RB26 in a '72 240z. I cut the bottom off of the stock sump (my stock sump was slightly damaged in the accident in Japan which led to me being able to purchase the motor) and I'm using the base to build my oil pan. I've checked the available baffles but they won't fit my custom pan either. Why won't you install an oil return line from the back of the head? You think that opening up the oil return galley is enough in combination with the oil orifice restricter? Could you elaborate? Thanks.
  3. Has anyone any experience with lowlifekustomz@gmail.com regarding their RB26 transmission modification? They claim that the RB26 tranny is much stronger than the RB25 tranny and can be modified to fit our rwd applications. He's protecting his proprietary information and it's difficult to get complete answers from them but apparently they cut the front wheel drive casing off and add new side casing and modify the bottom for $800. I have both the original RB26 awd tranny and a donor RB25 sitting in my garage as we speak while I wait for all of the engine and driveline parts that I've ordered arrive from all over the world to arrive. I'm putting them in my '72 240z that had a 3.1 stroker that wasn't powerful enough c/w tube frame from the firewall forward/Safety Devices roll cage/lsd/cv joint axles/coilovers and RB26 c/w CP forged pistons/Eagle connecting rods/Greddy 280 degree/10.8mm cams/HKS GTRS turbos etc etc etc.
  4. It's been awhile since you started this thread and I was wondering if you ended up picking up a Romac balancer and are you happy with it. You're putting it on an RB30, so it should fit an RB26? I couldn't find a listing for any RB motors on the Romac site.
  5. Is a service manual or torque specs for a an R32 rebuild available on the net? I've tried downloading the pdf's on Nico but they're corrupted.
  6. There's a great site where the whole swap and installation process is documented including relocating the dipstick location. http://myweb.westnet.com.au/mikeval/MoreInfo.htm Incidentally, my block wasn't predrilled with a brass plug in the back gallery like most others eeem to be. But it won't be tough to drill and tap. I'm in the process of building an RB26 to install into my '72 240z. The motor that I got from JDM with only 75k on it is immaculate inside, but I can't leave well enough alone and we're installing aftermarket rods and pistons etc. I'll document the process and put a page together.
  7. I'd like to see more photos of your 240, especially your rear flares. Are they posted on this site?
