  1. LMAO!!!! You guys crack me up. Thanks for the compliments. Stay tuned cause more to come shortly.
  2. Tonight got the drivers Door Hoop in and tacked into place. Left just enough room to weld it into place. Would of done it earlier but had to trim some sheet metal back to get it to fit where I wanted it. Enjoy
  3. Today had to do a lot of prep work and clearancing for the A pilar bars. But after all said and done here it is. Still need to notch the pass side and tack weld it into place. Will do that in the morning after a few z dreams. Enjoy
  4. I have a complete harness out of a series one. I will have to look at it to see if anything is cut
  5. Got the A Pilar tie ends done tonight The kid didn't want to go the sleep so didn't get as much done as I like. Enjoy
  6. On vacation this week so going to try to get the roll cage done. Today I got to work on the car for about 6 hours Got the a pilar bar tie ends almost finished. Plated the rear strut towers finished wire wheeling the interior of the car and cut out the spare tire well Last night I bent up the a pilar bars but didn't compensate for the a pilar width difference from top to bottom and so now I have to redo those tonight. Pics will show the oops. Now for the oops The tube is supposed to line up w/ the black line in the middle of the bend on the main hoop
  7. Alright so here are a couple pics of the plateing of the a pilar tie ends still need to do boxes for them. Also cleaned up the rest of the interior of the car aka wire wheeled it. Also plated the rear strut towers. Also does anyone know if I can weld the roof to the main hoop? Here are the those pics plus the pics of the oops a pilar bar. The black mark in the middle of the bend is where the tube is supposed to go. Bending up new a pilar bars tonight w/ the correct offset.
  8. Awesome!!! Thanks John when reading that SCCA book my eyes start to wonder. So much info. I am doing the a pilar bars that follow the roof line to the main hoop. A little more challenging do to how picky I am Pics will soon to follow later tonight. In the process of playing the rear strut towers and doing the a pilar tie ends since I didn't offset one of my bends to follow the roof line correctly. I will post I pic of the oops as well later.
  9. My hobart 210 has a 5/8" inlet npt. With a rubber hose going to the reg. nothing fancy. Go to a napa they will get you going. My napa has a crazy supply of brass fittings.
  10. So I am off this week so keep posted will be getting the cage hopefully done this week. Also a question on the halo hoop/ hoop that comes off the main hoop and wraps around the roof line. Does the 180 degree rule apply to this as well or can I follow the contour of the roof? Thanks for all the imput.
  11. I got the Hobart 210 handler in 230v and that thing welds anything I have put it to. Plus northern tool has a deal that is come w/ a spool gun. For about a $1000. The cool thing too is that Hobart is made by miller so consumables are easy to get. Happy hunting.
  12. Unfortunatly I don't have that option. I will be cutting holes in the roof to fully weld the halo. Then welded the roof back up. Not something I want to do but already have the boxes that the roll cage ties into welded fully in.
  13. Well I figured I should share this with the rest of you. I started to build my roll cage in my '70 240z a few days ago. I have already put new floors and frame rails in the car that I made up. I hoping that once the cage is done it will pass SCCA tech. I am building it to the rules I have read. If anyone sees something I missed please let me know. I started by playing the floor w/ .120 plate and then built 4"x4" boxes for the main hoop to be welded to. The cage is out of 1.5" .095 wall DOM tube. I am using a JD2 model 3 bender w/ a 180 degree 4.5" CLR die. It works really well and very accurate. All I have got done so far is the main hoop tie ends and the main hoop bent up and tacked into place. I have a few spots that are going to be a little tricky to weld do to how tight the roll cafe is going to be in the car. Hope all will enjoy and please let me know if you see anything wrong or that is missing so I can make sure this thing is spot on Enjoy!!
  14. Well last night got back to work on the car. Found that the first main hoop I bent up was out of square and one of the bends were off 2 degrees. So I bent up another one and the same damn thing on the same bend was off. So I discovered that the program I was using has a glitch in it and doesn't give the correct measurements for the bend to begin. So I did it the old school way. Took a little longer but the main hoop is as tight as it can get in the car. Oh and very square. Here are some pics. Enjoy.
  15. I will be doing a full port and polish to the head and gasket match as well.
  16. Tonight got the pass side main hoop tie end done and fully welded in. Also my favorite truck stopped by today and dropped of my new Arizona Z Car brakes for the front and rear
  17. Today wire wheeled the inside of the car just need to do the riff and pillars. Also welded it the roll cage tie ends for the main hoop on the driverside. Will do the pass side later tonight. Also picked up my head from the machine shop. Looks brand new. It's a n42 head shave .010 put new stainless steel valves in it new silicon brass guides and a race valve grind done to it. And of course like I said a pic of the fuel cell as well http://s435.photobucket.com/albums/qq72/robbs2001tj/?action=view&current=b7cf1446.jpg
  18. Got the drivers side main hoop tie in almost done. Here are some pics. Still have to plate under it and then weld it in. Also got my 20 gallon fuel cell from summit today. It's not sfi approved but it will work for now to get the car one the road. Will post pics of it tomarrow. Here is the Templet I made but was only 3x3. So made it 4x4 instead.
