  1. It looks like pewter. Check Z31 pics for that color
  2. After spending time looking at the situation rationally, I decided that owning a fuel burning engine that has a rated life of about 3 miles would be a stupid move. So this afternoon I sent my pal a check for $1350. I'll pick up the engine in the spring when I go back to see him. Maybe by then I'll have some idea what to do with it.
  3. I think I'll call him back this afternoon and discuss the engine with him. If nothing else it sure would be an impressive thing to have sitting around.
  4. It really doesn't need anything as far as fixing it up, the darn thing is basically a turn key engine. I thought about that, but I don't know if I have the will power to sell it. It might be profitable, but I really want it to run.
  5. Last night an old friend who I have known for about fourty years made me an offer that I found really interesting. Jerry has been racing nostalgia dragsters (since before they were "nostalgia") for years until he has finally decided that he's getting too old. (he's 69) That's the background. Anyhow here's the deal. He has a 392 Hemi fueler engine that has been sitting in his shop for quite a while. It's his spare for his fuel dragster. The engine hasn't been run since it was built a couple years ago. He said it should make about 1800 hp or a little more depending on how hot the fuel mixture is. Last night he offered it to me for about a dime on the dollar of what he has into it, and I told him I'd think it over. I really would like to have it though I have no idea why. I'd have to borrow the money (@$1300) to buy it, and I am trying to justify it. Right now, I'm leaning toward doing it, and the best excuse I can come up with is that I'd probably have the quickest Z anywhere. Why do I see myself having to move into my garage when my wife finally decides she's had enough??
  6. I've seen several pickups with Perkins deisels out of forklifts and even a couple with 4-53 Detroit deisels. A few years back there was a Mechanic at the local Cat dealer with a 250 hp Cat. I know it was rated at 250hp, but I have no idea how much torque it produced. However if he could have gotten a chain around it I think he could towed a battle ship.
  7. The Lincoln is a really good machine. We've got one that we have been jsing for about two years with no problems at all.
  8. In a couple of months I should be ready to start to build the front clip for the Z31. Its going to be one piece tilt. I don't like way the front end looks, and I want a more inique front bumper and grill. I've tried a zenon aie dam, and ended up with what looked like a Z31 with a zenon air dam. Some people suggested going to a later model clip, but that's not any solution either. I could use any ideas, drawings, photos or whatever that anyone might have.
  9. Nothin' more fun than watching someone's car getting bashed. The guy worked his ass off on it so lighten up. I think what he has done is at least original, as apposed to those who think of changing the rearview mirrors and the shift knob as being truly custom. just MHO.
  10. I really like vipers, but this is dithpicable
  11. I just moved my wipers to the corners of the windsheild om my Z31. I have no idea if the linkage was the same, but I pulled the shafts that the arms fit on and cut off the ball joints, then I drilled and tapped the arms that move the wipers. Then replaced the linkage with Heim joints and 5/16" rod. Like I said, I have no idea if your system is the same as mine, so I hope this helps if all else fails.
  12. 18.000 rounds per minute, is pretty spectacular. Especially when you consider that only every fourth round is visible in that picture
  13. I flew in Sentimental Journey several years ago and got to shoot the landing from the bombadier's position. Unfortunatly, I left the tape behind when I Quit the TV station.
  14. Has anyone had any experience with a plastic welder? I'm thinking about getting one. Will it work on heater air ducting, or the urathane on the front facia? This is what I'm looking at and could use any information you guys might have to share. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=41592
  15. http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-air-support/vietnam/spooky-puff.htm AC-47 Puff the Magic Dragon. If you want to see an incredible pic check out the one at the bottom of the page.
  16. Hey, Thrustnut, Don't forget that before the AC-130s gunships were DC-3s (oops C47s) Gotta admit those things are awesome. Just ask anyone who was in Viet Nam and saw Puff the Magic Dragon or Spooky in action.
