  1. Well, it may be better than pvc and glue. although the pvc would be more aestheticly pleasing
  2. I agree, I think its kind of ugly. I don't really like the whole trend towards generic cars.
  3. Damn, those are neat. I gotta get under mine and weld in some bracing and that is just what I needed.
  4. That is a thing of beauty. Kind of reminds me of my wasted youth!
  5. Customizing a Z31 usually consists of changing the shifter knob or adding a subwoofer. My car is just slightly more radical. I already have a Zenon air dam, and have been planning on projector headlights. I intend to go with a tilt front end, but because of the weight I think I may build one out of Carbon Fiber or Kevlar. I personally don't care much for the front facsia of the car, though I do like the airdam. If anybody has any drawings or pics of a better front end, I am in need of some suggestions. Thanx, Joe
  6. Almost all the main tubes are in. Now to finish weld the whole thing
  7. Thanks for all the input, I agree that bigger heads would be the way to go, and I may do that in the near future. However right now I'm buried in getting the chassis finished and the body to fit on it. I will probably go with the Comp 292. When I pull the heads, I can gain some help by going to a thicker head gasket and a little selective work on the chambers. Luckily I have a set of heavier valve springs and 1.6 rockers. That should solve my problems (I think.)
  8. Does anyone have Desktop Dyno? If so would you run my engine? I am looking at two different cams and would like to have some input on their performance. I couldn’t care less about how it is going to idle, all I’m interested in is raising the horsepower, between about 3000 and 7000 rpm. Here are the specs on my engine. Block: 355 cid Bore 4.030†/ Stroke 3.480Deck height 0.0†Rotating assembly: Forged steel crank / 3.48†stroke Polished shot peened Chevy 5.7†rods Keith Black flat top Hyperutectic pistons Sealed power rings Heads: HO Corvette aluminium Fully ported: Intake Volume 180cc / exhaust volume 73cc Combustion volume 58cc Compression ratio 11.40 Valves: Intake 1.940†/ Exhaust 1.5†Rocker ratio 1.5 Stock length push rods Lifters Hydraulic Flat tappet Induction: Weiand Stealth duel plane 750 Carter Carburator. Exhaust: 1 3/4†block hugger headers 2 ½†stainless pipes Flow Master mufflers Ignition: Vertex Magneto These are specs of the cam I am looking at. 9. Gawd, I hate when that happens!
  10. That is one great auto. I think I'll score one as soon as the %@$#&*! lottery comes through. No wait, that is too pretentious. Guess I'll just settle for a vantage, just to keep a low profile.
  11. Beautiful work. Saying there are better cars to replicte is like saying there are better cars than Zs to modify. As already been stated, it is in the eye of the beholder. As forme, if I ever finish the Z31, I plan on building a Watson roadster.
  12. Are you sure that ain't a bat?
  13. Don't forget, the largest aircraft ever built was made of plywood. The Hughes H-1! (No, it didn't have any spruce in it!)
  14. If there are commercial uniform suppliers they used to have surplus coveralls for dirt cheap
  15. Too bad that Indy has lost the inovators and has just bercome business for the realllly rich. My best friend's father raced against Parnelli Jones and Art Pollard. He would tell stories of those days that you would never hear from todays racers. i've always loved the 500, but its hard to identify with the modern cars. they may be faster, but there isn't anything IMHO as pretty as a Watson Roadster
  16. You silly canadian person. The bears are much more dangerous down here because our constitution guarentees our right to arm bears.
  17. It could use an engine with more spark plugs though. I like it, but what can you expect form me. I'm not really a "purest".
  18. Anyplace south of the interstate bridge is cool. I'd try to avoid Washington...
  19. I use a Dana 44 out of an XJ12 Jag 3.30 LSD in a Z31
  20. As usual, you guys just amaze me. The information pool is unbelievable. I think the staubli unites are what I need, although they are pretty costly. But then the cost of weather stripping for a Z31 is every bit as outragous. Actually even more so if you consider the amount of demand for the stripping.
  21. KTA600 Cummins, with a "4" button (fuel pump return pressure mod) It made about 700hp 5spd overdrive main box, 4spd overdrive brownie so it was a true "double over" It would pass anything but a fuel stop
