  1. Since I have gotte rid if the tip up headlights (Thet were really heavy) on my Z31 I have been looking for covers. Somewhere I saw a car with the lights moved back just like mine. Unfortunatly, I can't remember where I saw them. If anyone can point me towards the pics, it would really be helpful. I know I could make a set, but I'm getting tired of spending the time fabbing everything on the #*#@ing car. Here is a pic of the right headlight. I'. atill forming the left one. Sorry about the picture quality.
  2. I don't know much about security systems, but what about Lojac? Personaly I think that most people around here know that I'm a crazy old biker and there are "gang members" coming and going a lot they don't really want to f*** with my stuff.
  3. I think somebody was parked too close to that leaking reactor. Did any one notice the shoes the guy was wearing at the end?
  4. Good start, just be careful of the "while I'm at it" syndrome. The front suspension swap should work work out well. Z31's are really strong platforms.
  5. Great work. That's truly beautiful. I totally agree that all it takes is money and patience. I've been working on mine for nearly 12 years. BTW, if you have any extra, could you send me a large box of patience? After all this time I'm starting to run low.
  6. No problem. It should get you where you're going, as long as you are within 6" of your destination.
  7. I built a backbone chassis for my Z31. One of the main reasons for building it was to move the engine back and make it an integeral part of the chassis. The engine is set back about 4". The front and rear are Jaguar, It's really light, and extremly stiff. there are some changes I"d make if I were to do it again, but nothing major.
  8. Thanks to everybody for your answers. I still haven't started the glass front clip, but I'm getting closer. The front end has been fabbed and installed, but I still haven't started the body work. I found this, it illustrates the process pretty well http://www.grandsportcorvette.com/gs/gs002.htm This is how the front end is at the moment.
  9. I put a 350 in my '84 NA a few years ago,and it was a pretty easy swap. Of course the ease of the swap depends on your experience level. I fabbed my own motor mounts and rear cross member, and used a TH350 tranny. Going with a manual would be a bit more complicated, but not a lot. As for being able to clear a blower, I wouldn't count on it unless you dry sump the engine, or use a pro charger. Of course a Z31 looks really good with a cowl induction hood. Good luck on the build, Joe
  10. I often come across threads about wanting to have the sound of a certain engine. usually a BMW V-12 or an exotic Ferrari. I've been giving some thought about how I would like my car to sound, and in my fantasies it always comes down to the NOVI. Although I doubt there is any way to get the scream of that overdriven gear driven supercharger, I can fantasize can't I? My sbc is transitional, so hows for any suggestions? (Even though I realize most of you are too young to have ever heard a NOVI)
  11. Has anyone used biodegradable paint stripper? I've got to strip the front clip on the Z31, and I would like to use a stripper that isn't toxic.
  12. One might contact Streetfighter over at Z31 Performance.
  13. I'm using motor plates too, but mine aren't nearly as heavy as yours. Of course I also have a rear plate. I know what you're going through with the alternator. If you find a solution, please post it up because the alternator mount is making me crazy. Its good to see someone else using a Vertex Mag, only difference is that mine has the external coil.
  14. I got one of the 1:18 at Big Lots a while back. Its British racing green, and was pretty cheap {about $10) but I can't get the heater to shut off.
  15. Hey, I love my 924, even though I do hope there is a special place in hell for whoever came up with the Lambda fuel injection system. My too fuh is tons of fun to drive even though it could use a bit more power. there are a few people that have solved the problem with LS6 Chevy's. What I'm saying is if those big old Chevy's will fit into a 924, they should probably fall right in to a 944.
  16. Since I had to move my wipers when I moved the firewall, I have to use an oscillating motor. I have tried several rear window motors but they don't seem to be able to pull both wipers and the associated linkage. I've been thinking that I might use a stronger motor on a rear window gear box. Any suggestions would be appreciated, and also does anyone know how much power a wiper motor makes?
  17. What a deal! I wonder if he can get enough plastic parts to make a skyline resemble a cheesy ass honda
  18. Picky,Picky, Picky. 99% of youse guys builds ain't half as good as Chelle's, and I don't hear her putting down others. So whats the point of all the bchn?
  19. Welcome,300zx, Here are a couple answers to the quote: 1. Because that is the engine I have. 2. Because that's what I want to do. 3. Just show me the money then you can do it your way.
  20. I don't mind large wings (See pic at left) I just think that stack is just butt ugly. The zip ties aren't that neat either. Of course thats jut my opinion.
  21. I bought an '80 Porsche 924 for about $800, and its a blast to drive, and pretty good on gas. all the VW stuff has me looking for pics of the Transporter I built in the early '70s. It was the fastest VW I ever owned, probably because I had gotten a good deal on a 180 hp Corvair Corsa.
  22. Gawd, those rear wings just scream RICE. I think I'll pass on Rauh Welt, and stick with Ruff
