I thought that since the early 70s auto makes advertised rear wheel HP? I am in a discussion on another board and everyone is talking about ~20% loss from HP ratings. I could of swore that all changed from gross to net in 1972?
Please fill me in!

14.5 in the quarter isnt bad for a 4700lb truck! There were several people with time slips. I have seen everything from 16 even to the 14.5. There were a lot with times in the 15s. The 16 was from a four door and Im getting the two door.
Maybe when I get tired of it Ill pull the engine for my Z??

Well, I went and drove a 2003 Ram STX Hemi tonight. That thing was really sweet. I think I am going to go and pick one up in the morning. Have you guys heard anything good or bad about them?

No, it will not work. You can use the center section from the R200 but not the whole assembly. I think it is too wide.

I'm 6'3" and I fit fine. To help give me a little more room I have installed Miata seats (very easy swap) and am going with a smaller wheel. Even without the Miata seats my head didnt touch the headliner.
I also used to drive an 83 ZX. I was amazed at the room it had! I could stretch both legs straight out in front of my (past the pedals) and just barely touch the firewall!

I am 6'3"+. I also weigh about 235. The Miata seats are a must for head room and leg room. The Miata seat has a lower bun height than the stock datsun. It seems to give meabout 1.5" in head room. Also, if your like me you could use some extra room between your knees and the wheel. The Miata seats are easy to install. If you do a search I have a thread with a step by step.

I was also thinking about going with a console type shifter. I think they are made for the 80s camaros? I remember reading about someone using this set up but have not been able to find it since...

I am not going to be going with power stearing and Im not sure this would work without the pump?

If I'm not mistaken the dash, tail and radio are all on the same fuse. I once had a short in my radio (280ZX) that caused me a lot of problems. I would find the fuse that goes to the radio and test for voltage on each side of the fuse. If they are all three out I would definantly start at the box and work my way out.

Cant you just go to Autozone and buy a universal locking gas cap? I mean they might not be very pretty but they are under the cover... That is what I had to do for my mustang when the cap was stollen for the 3ed time!
By the way the mustang had no cover. I had to look at the ugly thing every time I walked up behind it! -
I went to college with one that killed me on almost a daily basis. At the time I drove a 1969 mustang. It was a pretty good road warrior. 4.11 rear, 351W, home port and pollish on 69 heads, 280 lumpy cam, headers, stealth intake and a holley 750 Vac secondary. This guy claimed to have been an engine builder and back up driver for a top fuel drag team
before he decided to give that up and come back to school. He always talked smack about my car and how that he wouldn't build a street car because anything seems slow compared to some of the cars he had raced (he drove a civic). Anyway, I found out (much to my surprise ) that he was just a poser and full of The problem was, he had everyone else snowed! One day he tried to sell me an old single plane intake for my mustang (was saying that it would really pick it up! ) He brought it into our mechanical design class to lecture on the finer points of atomization. The second I saw the thing I asked him how I was going to use a 302 intake on my windsor. He smiled smugly and informed the class that all SBF are windsor engines and they were all interchangeable. I told him that yes the 289 and the 302 are considered windsor engines but they have different deck heights and therefor the 351 takes a wider intake. At this point the "teacher" (who contraced work for comp cams) interupted and said that almost all SBF parts would interchange and I was wrong...
All I could do is shake my head...

First off I have a 73 240 and am wanting to go with aftermarket bushings. I would like to buy a kit. Here is the problem. I am installing a R200 rearend. Can I just buy a kit for a 280? What else would be different?
Also, where can I find the best deal on the bushings?

I actually think the Zebra theme on the Sunfire looks pretty good. I think it really fits the lines on the car. Like Thurem said it would take a lot of motor to back up that paint job. Im not even sure you could do that much with the Sunfire motor? Anyway, with that said, I wouldn't drive it in a million years!

Mike, we have already talked to him about that. He just said that he would work out a good prenupt in advance. Im not even sure how good those things are. Im pretty sure they can be beat in a divorce?
Denny, that would be a good idea but according to him they have talked about that as an option. Im not sure how real of an option but who knows.

I guess you guys are right, it just seem obvious to me that these girls are only out to get their green card. I mean, if coming to America was not the point Im sure there are a lot of great russian guys they could hook up with... He is just very impulsive and I feel he needs to really think about this.

Okay, I have a friend in Chattanooga (where I recently moved from) who was going through a dry spell in the lady department. About five months ago I had some friends over at my house and as a joke we signed him up for some information on Russian brides. We figured he would get some cheesy pamphlet and call us giving us hell! Turns out they sent him a hour long video and a bunch of other crap. He has been talking to this one girl for the last four months. He was talking to me yesterday about flying over there to see her. He is even thinking about taking a RING with him "just in case"!
Me and my other friends (who all feel like crap heads for signing him up) tried to talk some sense into him. We told him that she would be gone the second the plane touched down if he brought her back with him.
Dont get me wrong. My friend has went out with some pretty women and I have no problem thinking that two people can start a long distance relationship. Its just that he showed us some pictures and this girl makes Anna K. look plain!! I mean honestly she looks like she could be a supermodel.
What should I do in this situation. I feel really responsible? I thought I remembered seeing a thread on here about russian brides but I cant find it now. Can anyone give me any information to either give to him or make me feel better?

If the box has never been opened just take it back to advanced or autozone. I know for a fact that autozone would take it back. I dont think they have computer record of carb sells... I could be wrong?

Okay, I know exactly what your talking about. The first girl I really loved is still in my dreams from time to time. We dated for about three years just like you. A few months ago we started talking again. I was so excited. Even though I was the one who had originally broke things off I was flying high at the thought of us getting back together. Problem was after the first month I began to remember why we originally split. You see I had made her into this perfect person in my mind. All I ever thought about were the good times. We have stopped talking again and to this day I still dream about her. I guess it will be that way for the rest of my life.

What I have heard and what Im doning for my engine is using a high volume pump with a 7qt pan. I am using the HV because thats what came with my kit. I have heard that he HP is more practical but haveing more oil in your pan is important if your using a HV oil pump.

Lets see here, Im looking in my Hybrid Z dictionary and I cant find anything under "overkill"!
I will however say that you may be running into the law of diminishing returns. Im not sure that with anything resembling a stock rear suspension set up that a 600HP car would be any faster than a 450HP car. You would have one hell of a torque curve with that bad boy but I just dont know if you could ever get it to the ground. Kind of like the old joke what do 400, 500 and 600HP supras have in common? 12 second time slips! -
Short trips can cause condensation but if you drained you oil and it was white and milky, you probably have a head gasket problem or a craked head!
Do you have any overheating issues?

The biggest issue with HP IMO is that its a 305! Yes the intake, heads and cam are set up for lower end power but the 305 will always be a dog. There are some guys running the H.O. 305s with TPI but still they are nothing special.

Will a rear slip yoke from a 4wd 4L60E fit a regular 700R4. I have a small window to pick one up really cheap.

when I was in college I worked at Autozone. They did give me eight test on the different automotive systems, AC, electrical, cooling, etc... Thing is the test didnt determine if you were hired or not most times. It just determined how much money you would start at.
As for the whole white shirt red shirt thing, most times that doesnt really matter. Some of those guys dont know their A$$ from a hole in the ground. There are normally one or two guys who know whats going on in the store. Look for the guys who spend all their time behind the counter. When I worked there they always kept the better people at the parts counter and had the scrubs out in the store or cashing out. I spent so much time behind the counter I was the leading store salesman and I only worked 30 hours a week!
