  1. My project car will be blowthru carb with megasquirt controlling timing Those turbo dist are hard to find and expensive to replace I will be using the na dist locked Take a look at this monster this guy claims to have about 800hp it sure looks like star trek meets old school lol on a 6 cylinder engine http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=800jn0.jpg even those old slant 6 engines runs 11's now on carbs/turbo
  2. If you're looking for turbo and carb info www.theturboforums.com seems to me the clifford intake should work better than the Az but I am not sure drawthru carb setups works too check this pic 4 cil datsun drawthu setup (the mustang runs 10's)

  4. Someone correct me if I am wrong this would be the same as using a turbo distributor (the one with the disc inside)???? as a trigger
  5. Easier said than done... most of the time they don't have it and when they do I better order it myself as the prices are about 4x more expensive I went to napa to get a voltage regulator for my 69 Plymouth and they told me it was $73 I found it to be too expensive and went to another parts store and guess what $16 that was 5 years ago I guess I can wait ... next month I'll be in Vegas
  6. Where I can buy fel pro head gasket and complete gaskets set for l28 We need the intake/exhaust gasket to finish the head Thanks
  7. A friend of mine runs 11's and 10's with nitrous on l28 stroker engine with fellpro gasket no problems another one built a backyard high compression engine kept blowing gaskets got a metal head gasket guess what broke the piston we've blown gaskets at 10 psi of boost due to detonation...
  8. probably you guys haven't visited www.turbomustangs.com lots and lots of carb blowthru setup and information some rides with 1000+ hp
  9. take a look at this car red datsun stroker engine runs 11 na and 10's with nitrous I don't think he spend 10 grand I got a few pics of the engine somewhere....
  10. for that kind of money you could 2 rb26 engines lol
  11. One thing I don't care about streetability this won't be a daily will be driven to the track and very limited street use the car isn't a z but a bluebird 2 door stripped that going to be painted flat black with weld rims mad max style Thanks for the suggestions.
  12. The only question I ask here in my post is regarding the cr I think the holset turbo I have is enough for that goal as well as the head... including the fuel pump and regulator that I have so even with forged pistons arp fasteners on rods, mains ,head and balanced bottom end it is unrealistic it was 400hp not 1400hp sure it can blow up everything is a possibility funny thing how a friend of mine can have near 300rwhp out of a bone stock 1.8l engine just by changing to microtech ems, ic , turbo etc... notice the brand of the ic btw he's in the 11's now http://www.dragtimes.com/Mitsubishi-Lancer-Timeslip-10722.html
  13. Since the F54 block I have has some grooves/ scratches in it the machine shop recommended to go OS 0.030 So I contacted brc pistons they told me to go 8.0 to 1 or 8.3 to 1 CR What is your opinion on cr regarding a turbo motor Since I spend allot of money into the head and now for pistons might as well shoot for 400hp I have shaved the head (p90) 0.005 just to be sure it is perfect and I also want to do it to the block... I do have an intercooler and I am going also with water/meth injection I also asked them for lighweight the pistons.... any opinions/ suggestions/ recomendations? Thanks
  14. Have you considered csu carbs? that's what most use with blowthru and having great succes with I am going blowthru also but with a homebuilt edelbrock I am going to use a holset hy35 turbo... hoping for 300+ hp when finished
  15. What would you prefer? I can get both I am thinking that with an auto I might be more consistent at the track.... How strong are the l28 turbo auto transmission can I get parts for it?...High stall converter , transmission kit/shift kit etc With the megasquirt antilag option I can probably launch at full boost I am hoping for high 12's (hope) stripped datsun bluebird way lighter than a zx.... Holset hy35 turbo my head should be finished tomorrow ported and polished I was talking to a guy right now he has a 280zx with an rb25det engine he had a l28 with weber carbs, cam, headers with auto and 75 shot nitrous ran 13.4's full interior any suggestions????
  16. and I just finished my ms1 v3 and they come out with this Bowling and Grippo are soon (early 2008) going to offer a sequential MicroSquirt, called "MS-II Sequencer". The reason for doing this is that we have the infrastructure now for MicroSquirt, all of the parts, harnesses, case, etc. And we have many users looking for sequential injection or coil-on-plug control (or both). As a result, it made sense to extend MicroSquirt to generate sequential functionality (fuel injection timed to ignition order, and cylinder-by-cylinder injection and ignition tuning).
  17. you can go with a 4bbl also replace those brass floats with nitrophyl floats you can go up to 20 psi or even more here is some good reading http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/documents/ChickenHawkArticle.pdf there is a lot of info on turbomustangs.com on blowthru setups take a look at this 20+ psi 10.95et http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/686000-686999/686815_13_full.jpg if possible on these there is no reason it can't be done on a l28
  18. Machine a dish into the flattops
  19. If it was me I would run an intake and a 4bbl >> edelbrock
  20. I had this problem but with another type of car went thru allot of gaskets....the problem was that the manifold was bend...
  21. to lower compression? I have 2 l28 blocks 1 from a z 1 from a patrol the patrol has dished pistons(use thicker rings too)(this is what I am going to use) the z has flattop I was wondering If I machined the top of the pistons to lower compression a bit I would have a spare set I would use these with p90a head... p90a stamped but has no hydraulic lifters... You can laugh if you want but this is my junkyard technology project the only performance parts are a professional ported head and arp conrod bolts...+ the turbo stuff Thanks
  22. Anyone is using a l28 non turbo distributor with MS direct coil control with no problems? 6000's rpm??? I do have also have a ms6al also but it's for my other car Thanks
  23. My MS1 v3.0 should be here tomorrow I've been reading and searching everything I need for this project what are the pro's and con's of a car with MS installed with tps only or map only or map and tps? in a turbocharged aplication? Thanks
