  1. t-56, it is a great platform to start from and in the future when you will wanna make some more power it should handle it with no problem... not saying the t-5 is no good its just personal preference... good luck with the swap. There are some really great people not to mention very knowledgeable as well..
  2. Well it looks like 5.5psi is not the limit of the stock head gaskets.... It just split at the coolant passage.... Time for some cometics, stud kit and possibly more goodies.... hehe
  3. beautiful car! very well done and congrats...
  4. yea I worked there for a while in the Argyle location... I have seen your screen name on a few of the local boards aswell..
  5. yea, I kinda failed to mention that it did overheat slightly before this and that may have contributed to the outcome.... They should hold somewhere around 8-10psi but this again is an ASSumption.. lol
  6. yea I forgot to order the piping for the dump tube... lol yea thats kinda a cheapy boost controler. If you put a tee with a long vac hose on it (about 2' to start to be safe) between the wastegate and the manifold it acts like a bleeder valve. The longer the hose the less increase in boost or none depending on the length.. the shorter the more it bleeds off and the boost goes up and too short and it goes BOOM!!! lol
  7. Thanks again! yea it needs a little touch up.. I might do some ceramic coating on all the hot stuff...
  8. Thanks, I have a T56 behind it... can't wait to get some gaskets back in her
  9. here is a video... 130k and too much timing showed its ass hahaaa... enjoy http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Turbo-LT1-300ZX_158121.htm
  10. yup its a Master Power T70... .96 A/R exhaust, It is a stock engine for now hehee... I am actually driving it today and it is pretty violent around 3200 rpm. Its only around 4psi till I can get it up on the dyno. I have an FMU on it until I can put some injectors in it. I really need some tires on this thing now... I'll be at the shop this Sunday to dyno it and I'll video it and post it up for you guys.
  11. you can't see it from any of those angles... lol what are the chances
  12. Just finished up the turbo kit this past weekend!
  13. If you lowered the subframe 2.5" did the rack go with it? Wouldn't that mess with the steering geometry? I would love to see some pictures of the swap...
  14. Yea I saw that a while back! It looks like he may have been able to avoid modifying the pan... I tell you its alot of fun having the torque and power...
  15. yup, the steering rack also poses the problem. because it sits behind the front crossmember it actually forces the engine back unless you modify the oil pan. not only is that a problem but then you also have an oversized bellhousing you have to deal with. the factory tranny tunnel is abnormally small comparitive not only in height but in width. modifying the oil pan allows you to get that extra few inches to slide the engine forward to avoid this problem.... would I do it this way? no because it throws the natrual balance of the car off wich you will notice in driving the car... although I went with the LT1 it is pretty much the same deal....
  16. +1 on the turbo... just save up another grand or so. Just think how much your going to spend on bottle fills over the next couple years (average bottle fill $27.00) I ran a few a week through mine for a long time but thats just me. Now I'm working on a turbo kit!!!
  17. I believe that was the one he used and you still have to modify the oil pan... I wish I got a chance to get a good look at it but I was too busy at the time. I'll ask around and see if I can't find out if he's still around and get some pictures of the swap...
  18. There is another guy here in jax that has done an LSx swap and I believe he left the firewall alone and had the oil pan modified to clear the rack. I think if anything he just had to message the tranny tunnel a little. Plus on the LSx style tranny they have an internal slave wich allows for more clearance. I chose to redo the firewall and tunnel to allow me to set the engine further back and higher up to allow for better clearance and weight distribution. This was my first time doing sheet metal work and I thought it turned out alright. Trust me the T56 is well worth the hassel!
  19. man thats funny I've had the same problems with my old z32 trannys years ago... gotta love the T56
  20. I'm not aware of anyone but I know you could make an adapter plate to mait the LSx block to the Z32 tranny although if you could have a chance to put a T56 in the car I would personally do so over the Z32 tranny just my .02
  21. I have done this swap with an LT1 and it was not too bad. You would need to build a new firewall/tranny tunnel to do it right and have the proper clearence up front and around the transmission. Here is a link to my pics of the build and a little vid of the startup.... http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/
  22. Looks nice! I did my first one in early 2003 I think, now I have pretty much reconfigured the whole swap. Its gonna be a fun ride! Good luck! Here are a few pics! http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01140.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01139.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01208.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01202.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01117.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01125.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u17/DanShields_2007/DSC01137.jpg
  23. Even so they are not that tough to get to. Either way it still takes time. As for the vented I have had 2 '95's and both went on me within months of getting them. 1st one had around 75k and I fought that thing the entire time I owned it until I removed the factory engine management and went with a Haltec E6X with a motronic wheel for the trigger. The opti worked fine to distribute the spark after that. 2nd one my current one has about 120k on it. I had to go into it within the first week of getting the car running clean it, sand down the contacts, etc.. I figured this would be a temp fix until I could afford to get the MSD. Well it ran for about 2 months, good enough for just cleanning it out and slapping it back together. But then again I might just have bad luck with the opti's!
  24. You have been very fortunate! Some work well some don't. Then you get that snowball effect after you replace it. Seems like everthing replaced sensor wise never last as long as the "from the factory stuff".
