  1. I bought mine for $1K, and I can tell you it was a smokin deal. All the work done, new carpet, 6 disc CD changer, overall good interior, minimal rust, and the configuration I would have built, 350 Chevy with a 700R4 Trans. Thanks RiverZ!
  2. Owen, Ok you caught me, the vents are just for looks, the only hot air behind the tires would be from the brakes. I just liked the look. Nismo, no offense taken, I built it the way I like it thats all that counts to me. The cowl is cut and fiberglassed in, so it is still mostly metal.
  3. Email me your address and I can send you some. 280Zone@cox.net

  5. The side vents are from a Camaro I think it was the 80-81 model. I guess they are getting a little hard to come by so the FBody boys might get a little upset to see what I am using them for. Functional? yes they get all of that offensive hot air away from the back of my front tires I have not vented them into the engine compartment yet. I still haven't decided what they intent is. The older Trans AM side vents are just a little too busy for me. I had a 73 TA and they looked fine but they don't look that good on a Z IMO. I can get pictures of anything you need but like I said right now they do not vent to the engine compartment.
  6. "Oversized personality"? IMO Boyd has the personality of a three year old. It is all I can do to make it through his pissing and moaning to watch the true talent at his shop. Maybe being a TV star did that to him.
  7. The air dam is a modified Motorsports Aero II front air dam. I can't just bolt something on the way I buy it. : ) My car was the Dupont DP90 for a year but it was not holding up to the sun, so I had it redone and have it in the garage.
  8. Evil, The hood vent are from a Pontiac TransAm (I think early eighties). Green, The Wheels are Centerline Rhino's (they were on sale you wouldn't believe how much I saved). Blue, it is a black catalyzed (sp?) primer, I can get the brand name later today. I think there is also a 12 step program for those afraid of paint. Akeizm, I can get fiberglass to stick to anything, fingers, hair, the floor, the cat. But eventually I can get some where I need it too.
  9. My car finally got out to see the light of day. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/2772RearL-med.jpg http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/277275Driver-med.jpg http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/277275Front-med.jpg Still need to find some time to finish up a few items.
  10. I paid $500 for my 75 and drove it home. It was very ugly but very solid. I paid $200 for a 77 that didn't run and is also ugly but very solid. Hope this helps.
  11. Dave, I didn't mean to sound like I was stepping on your toes. I thought your comparison of both was an excellent idea. Dyno results would also go a long way to validate your products. I am not sure if I missed any previous discussions about this but some of the comments may have been about other 4 barrel intakes that have been around. From what I have seen your parts seem to be of high quality and reasonably priced. My experience with the Z car would be an owner for several years, Z Enthusiast, Z rebuilder, recent newbie to the Hybrid world of the V8 swap. I would never consider myself and expert nor would I present myself to be. My Z involvement is for pleasure, I enjoy the challenge of keeping my 30 year old cars running. My mention of fuel injection was to indicate that I have very little expertise with carburated vehicles.
  12. To be fair Dave you should also mention that Gary has also done many other mods to his engine. He has also only had it installed for a matter of months. I think your "challenge" is a good idea but it would have to be the same car comparing both intake options. This is the only way to do a true comparison. Throttle response could be measured but "driveability" seems to be in the eye of the beholder. Not trying to pick a side of the fence to stand on I'll be sticking with my fuel injection.
  13. This subject came up the other day, others were interested in a mustache bar for the R230 and also are interested in any stress testing you have done.
  14. What is the current power plant? What is the plan? Can I ask how much you paid for it? Keep us updated on progress, with pictures.
  15. I know Dave at AZ Z car as he is local and have dealt with him for at least 15 years. I also know someone that has recently installed several of his brake, intake, oil pan, cam etc. His mechanical parts seem up to the quality that people expect.
  16. I imagine this will be a very difficult task without removing the engine. You will probably not be able to "see" any difference between the bearings even if you get them side by side. I would also anticipate waiting much longer than a week for Vistoria British to get the order right. they trid three times to send me my bearings and I got opened scratched bearings everytime. I ended up buying them through my local machine shop. I might still have the thrust bearing if you would like it. I'll double check and make sure it is worth mailing.
  17. This was the first time I have ever been on the track. I don't even think I have driven the car 50 miles since I got it. I ordered a helmet just for intimidation factor if nothing else: ) I only have one picture and a video clip but no idea how to post a video. http://dev.zdriver.com/gallery/data/500/25Firebirdstagging-med.jpg Let's see if this works. http://www.streetneeds.com/uploads/videocars/Mvc-899v.mpg
  18. How respectable is running a 14.24 @ 97 mph for the quarter mile? I recently purchased Riverz Hybrid and have been smiling ever since. The car is a blast and wish I would have been to the dark side years ago. The car is a 77 280 with a chevy 350 with the 700R4 trans. The engine has headers, a dual plane intake and en edlebrock 650 carb with Accel HEI. The recent runs still have me smiling ear to ear but wondering if this combination will break the 14 sec mark and force me to buy a helmet.
  19. Not sure I like it, what does it look like without them?
  20. I am interested in buying them when you come up with a price let me know.
  21. Great job, would it be possibe for you to continue the black on top to follow the upper body line back throught the hatch area? And change the black on the bottom to silver? Thanks!
