The bad news is the trim is supposed to go it the weatherstripping after the glass but before the weatherstripping is in the car. Trying to put it in when the winshield is in the car will lead to some torn up weatherstripping.
I got an email from someone on this topic and they said they had swapped them before and it was not any problem. It appears that the unit got stronger in the later years but they are interchangeable.
I heard that the "quick ratio" steering knuckles are really just early 240 knuckles. I heard this after I bought the "quick ratio" knuclkes.
I do like them though.
TheS30 must have been available after 78 in New Zealand. Most of what you are probably seeing in catalogs are based on the cars here in the states. It sounds like you should be looking to buy 78 parts from them.
That is correct about the gas shocks, 240's had one and later they started putting on two. I could be wrong but I asked a seasoned Nissan mechanic once and he told me they were the same in size and mounting. I guess I better not sound so sure of myself just yet. Oh yea one other thing the 2+2 hatches will NOT fit the coupes.
Thaey are the same over all. The early 240's had vertical window defroster lines and external air vents below the window. But none of those things will keep you from bolting on any first generation hatch.
You can build the car either way. If you build the couple you remove part or the rear tub. Check out John Washington's kits.

prices seem in the ball park. I have seen the unpainted ones sell for around that much, not sure if the paint helps or hurts the value. It would also help the value if you have the center caps.
This is not well known but some of the Nissan trucks have the longer wheel studs that are the same thread count and pitch. They are about 1/4" longer. Sorry I don't what year to ask for though.
The wing is aluminum, and yes people can sit on them, supposedly very structurally sound. Yes the "bumps" were installed on the street cars to mimic the modification to the racing versions to allow for tire clearance.
