  1. No! Come onnnnnn man. I'm fixing to go.
  2. True. Of course there are some cool cars of every model. If you have a Corvette thats raped or a classic one then yah thats cool, but the C5 C6 Z06 or whatever they're doing with the newer models, not my type because well... like I said everyone has one. The classics always bring back the memories and such. Except for: Avanti must die. Abortion of a car. Some dude drives his as the pace car for CVAR and Dad was like OH COOL MAN LOOK AT THAT. No, I wanted to die its so ugly.
  3. You're buying the name not the car. Not everyone that owns a Corvette can own a Ferrari, but everyone who owns a Ferrari can own a Corvette, that sort of thing. Here in keller you are nothing if you have a Corvette. Everyone owns one.
  4. I will abandon you if you abandon your z. :/ Don't do it!
  5. Yah we'll have to find out. The owner said it was a 10-whatever but the badge on the back says 1275. I don't know how much he paid for the car but its really nice inside and out. It was funny though because heres a mini and then a z driving along the side of each other, Dad floors it, I do the same and his eyes bugged out from the noise intake noise and everything, then from me showing him who's boss. These things with anything bigger than their 1275 is indeed scary. Not even that really, the Hyabusa motors are how big? and those things are beasts in a mini too.
  6. We're not sure. It seems to have fake badges or something because it says 1275 but we think its a 10-whatever.
  7. Not a Z, please never speak to me again.
  8. Cowtown Z Club meeting next Thursday I believe. Theres a kid in my calc class who is going to it in his z31/32 and his girlfriend has a 350z. Knowing that you have a zillion cars, I'm sure you are already aware of this. By the way, if you have access to a 4.38 r200, find me on campus again. :]
  9. ! I finally got my garage space at Dad's house. Told him 3 months ago that my Z is a garage queen so when I move in for college, I will get a spot. This was because he kept taking in customer cars and then storing them in the garage. He also likes to take all the pallets that our neighbors at the shop throw out. He plans on building a shed, which will take him like 5 year because he can't ever get personal projects finished which is fine, but for some odd reason, the wood was allowed to reside in the garage. So while he was gone I did some reorganizing. Of course once again he has ANOTHER customer car at home. Defies the point of even having a separate location for the shop when you bring your work to your house. I won't complain though, its a mini, they are mini, and I get to do the work on it which is money for me. Some more cool updates. I'm mounting my trigger wheel now for my EDIS setup. Our machinist said he can mount the wheel press fit like this for $50-$75: Thanks Paul. Of course I get a second option and that is to make it adjustable with 3 mounting screws but he said that would cost probably like $175. This is cool but its an old damper, I don't want to invest heavily in it when it may let go. I drilled a 1/8" hole in the bottom of the "v" on one of the rows before I put it on the new motor. This way when I take it off I can get the drill bit and make sure the holes still line up, if not, the inertia rubber is dead and its time for a new pulley... More super cool news. Dad met up with a long lost friend. He's big on German cars like BMW and Porsche and owns both. He told us our 45mm DCOE's are too big for a moderately hot 2L BMW motor, which I do agree because I don't expect much out of the BMW. Dad calls it my race car, but its being built how he wants it, on his very very very slim budget, and he wants it both track and street legal. If you get my drift you can tell that I will be building the car with the expectation to get out on the track and then have Dad drive it on the street between races however judging by this sad story, Dad will say he can't afford to race but he will gladly drive a sporty 2002 on the street. This is why I don't pitch in any money. I will buy fuel, tires, and entry fees, but I will not buy parts. In fact he pissed me off when I got my 40mm DCOE's in the mail and it came with a fuel reg, pump, and those giant canister filters. He takes the filter and the fuel reg and says oh you won't need these, we can use them on the BMW. And I'm like uh... I just paid $800 for this, think again. Anyway, long story short, we have two 45mm carbs for the BMW and I have three 40mm carbs on the Z. We were told 45's are too big so Dad said if I find one more 45mm carb he will trade me for the 40's. The two that we already have need to be rebuilt and stuff though so I have to watch out for those "hidden costs". Making an air box too. There is a ton of construction going on at UTA and I'm getting very worried about the dust. I'm going to use steel so I can weld it although Dad is hell bound on riveting it together. Later dudes.
  10. Like... a cruise ship generator or something?
  11. hey brow you online or free for a Q..

    My buddy's lil bro picked up a 75 280z..

    issues:

1.car does not shut off when keys is at off pos.

2.raditor is full but car over heats ... I think its the T-stat.. but Iheard today that if raditor gets pushed back out to your over flow resvouir..It could mean head gasket...But thats what some told him,so not official.

  12. When I sanded my car it was that way too. They feel crusty like I had contacts in all day. Having worn contacts, i have the bottle of solution, couple of drops and let it sit, then take a shower rinse out your eyes and all good. Likely what Tony said too, dry eyes. The contact solution usually has some sort of mixture that breaks down protein build up on contacts. Also helps if you get a lot of eye boogers, I use to get a lot of them when I slept.
  13. All made possible by HybridZ.

  14. There is a difference between drug cartel and mobster, I just don't really know how to word it. I guess if I were to pull something out of my ass right now it would be that one is sloppy and the other one I picture being the "business man", gentleman type. Don't get me wrong, drugs are all over the place in todays world but when I think of a town thats deep into drug sales and stuff I think of like a slum with high crime and stuff. When I think of the mob and stuff I picture a town that has people who know their place in society, know the consequences, and even though some stuff is illegal and that the mob isn't necesarily doing the "right" thing, the town was kept safe and the people knew they would be taken care of. A good example would be when my parents got married they were told if they wanted to spend some time in Atlantic City to go gambling they could and they would be "taken care of" if you get my drift. Just one of those things where family takes care of family.
  15. Crazy bumping into you today - good thing you were sporting the hybridz gear  . Right now I'm staying with Flexicoker, but I'll give you my address when I move into my house.

  16. I hear yah Tony. My Grandma Anne and her 12 siblings were all part of that. Never would have thought it now that they're all old or dead but when Dad was a teenager he got to see all sorts of stuff. People owing money and threatening to take fingers, hands, legs, etc blah blah blah. For whatever its worth, Grandma Anne's madden name was Annie Spallone and apparently Caldwell, New Jersey was part of the TV series too. As far as generations go, that stuff that we see on TV and such was cool back then but now I'm glad no one else got involved. I believe there was a documentary on the Mafia on the history channel and to sum things up, back then drugs were not to be sold for "business". It was a dirty thing, a poison, if you wouldn't give your kids it then why are you making a living off of it. After a series of events that changed and selling drugs became a main source. Of course with the drugs came more violence and all sorts of ****. Whatever is left of the mob is probably tangled up in some sort of crazy stuff that I doubt anyone would want to be a part of.
  17. Indeed! I think its an old Kurtis. 1939 midget, runs a Ford flat head V8 60. We can't afford an Offy! The car was a barn find so everything is original on it. The car has an in/out box with whatever rear end but also came with 4 v8's a 3 speed model t tranny or something like that and then a Haliburton quick change rear end. Ebay barn find, $7000 . Money gets the best of us though. In dire needs, the thought of selling the car lingers around. I don't think Dad can bring himself to sell it though because the car use to run up in the northeast... Dad is from New Jersey, so when Grandpa raced they went to all the northeastern tracks and apparently this car ran with my grandpa plus we have all these old black and white photos of them sliding through the dirt and we have the old logs and everything. My grandpa Poppy has some crazy stories though.... Don't get him started on the topic if you don't have a good hour or two to spare. First thing he asked Dad when we told him was "does it have a floor?" "yah..." "mine didn't, you rested your feet on a bar" "does it have a head rest?" "yah..." "mine didn't, you ducked when you rolled" haha But yah anyway, car still has the handbrake, we bought a mechanical hand fuel pump but will probably run an electric, all sorts of stuff. Poppy came down to Texas for my sisters wedding so somewhere around he is a photo of him sitting in the car. His old helmet is like paper mache..
  18. I thought the same thing when I saw it.
  19. Skib is going to get beat up by some Joysey boys. Everyone in New jersey who isn't wearing womens underwear, taking a weird pose, wearing that shirt, or isn't part of the Jersey Boys, is a guido.
  20. I don't know any of the mini problems, I just know that the Spitfires had an oiling issue. Came about when they went from the 1300 to the 1500, went with big journals I think but never opened up the oil galleys and such for more oil.. #3 rod likes to leave the show early too. Its so common it takes more than two hands to count the times we've seen it happen. So all in all they have a small journal and a big journal, we take all the small journals we can find. Otherwise if you use a big journal you have to open up the oil holes and galleys on the block. Oh and they also snap axles too. dad broke two sets until he finally said ehhhh no. Summers Brothers now sells better axles however little did I know that Dad gave them the design. He worked with them to create the axles and initially sold a ton especially to the guys in England but once everyone had a set business slowed down and it wasn't worth it to sell on his own so he handed the design over to them and now they sell it. Weird. BUT they take FOREVER to actually make and ship them, it was ridiculous. Dad: Guy who has a problem: Doesn't look like the hub broke off the axle as it usually does because I think I see the drum brakes still on there BUT thats the general idea of what happens.
  21. Shared oil gottah love it! One goes out they all go out! We actually have a mini coming in next week needing a suspension rebuild. But in all honesty, a large portion of the shops business is from returning customers, but not from broken stuff. Every motor we build is warrantied IF we buy the parts. There have been two instances that I can think of when a customer get screwed because they wanted to save money on parts. One was a customer who bought everything and skimped on the oil pump. We currently have a customer who thinks he's some big shot and knows everything. Original motor, never been rebuilt, needs a .020" over bore, but he doesn't want to buy new pistons because it will let the motor spin up better... >_< doah! And I wouldn't criticize the man but when I showed him my Z he gave me a lecture about stuff that never existed, and then lectured me how our properly built N/A L6's could beat a V8 in a drag race because they can rev higher... Those sort of people bother me big time, especially when they combine their absolute knowledge with building a worn out brand new motor.
  22. I'm not sure yet. The guy we did it for is making it complicated it seems. He has 2 Spitfires, one has a motor and the other has just been painted and is being restored. We're taking the running motor from the first car, taking it apart and rebuilding it, putting it in the 2nd car. Then we take this crazy motor and put it in the first car. We're going to break the motor in with a weber dgv and then do the efi, of which I don't even know. Triumph made some efi and stuff but I would think that we're going to install TWM ITB's or something. We use to install that setup on Super 7's and stuff so Dad is familiar with the system.
  23. Ah Triumph Spitfire 1300. Dads the Triumph Guru here in the DFW area and then I just work with him at the shop. I would like to get more Datsun stuff, right now I'm doing a Roadster 2000 motor but once I'm done with that i'm out of projects.
  24. Dad finished up a motor he was building for a friend. It was built with the intention of a hot street street motor and such in mind. -ported and polished head -performance cam -lightened, balanced, polished, and shot peened rods -.040" over bore -10:1 compression -teflon piston skirts, ceramic coated tops -glyptal crank case -crank scraper -performance lifters -lightened flywheel -headers -fuel injection Should be a blast! I love these crazy builds!
