Ok from massive amounts of headache inducing reading. I have deduced that it may be a linkage issue or that the clutch is not fully engaging. Well Im not sure how to fix either of those things does anyone have a link to a linkage adjustment? I let a friend borrow my hanes manual!! The good news is, I have a fresh 5spd and r200 at home, bad news is homes is 2 hours away.

1972 240z factory 4spd. Has allot of difficulty going into first gear, almost all my weight is required. For reverse, I have to turn the car off and then slip it in otherwise it grinds like crazy. Im a newb with transmissions so this is a learning experience. Im thinking of changing the transmission fluid. Is it possible the clutch is bad or needs to be changed. *Possible related, I have a vacuum leak at the manifold of my 4bbl swap that is recent but im not sure if its related, ill plug it up and see if It helps.*

A random, really stupid question with potentially important answers . How does the blower and ac unit keep from sucking fumes from inside the engine or exhaust fumes from outside. Second how does it keep fumes from leaking in while not on

Cool thanks grumpy. I registered for the forum and ill keep it with me. The tranny is a datsun T5 out of an 82 Na Z/X. Do you know if a sbc of any kind would mate to a datsun T5 or if any one makes an adapter?

Super easy yes, or no. lol Will an LT1 mate to a datsun 5spd? 1972 240z Already rewired with 21 circuit painless kit and 12si high out put alt. Gen1 LT1 Block from a Z28, a 5spd out of an 82 N/A zx as well as the r200. I can get the motor for so cheap but, its an auto and I wont use the auto tranny

An Inquiry? I know your not supposed to post these in the classifieds so ill post here. I may be going to grad school in chicago. Rent is 1,000.00 a month and I really dont have resources to move, live, and eat on. Thus, I could lose some assets and gain some living money. If I were to potetntially sell my z, to get a bicycle, furniture, and maybe some food. What do you think I could likely get out of it, since Im probably not going to take it to downtown chicago anyways (it lacks locking mechanisms in all doors and hatch, the p/o took them out for body work and lost allot of the pieces). Car: 1972 240z Gm upgraded chrome heavy duty 12si altenator painless 21 circuit complete rewire with 21 circuit fuse block custom high output headlight harness led corners Painted tailight cover MSA tinted headlight cover Motorsports molded carpet set (not installed) Energy suspension master kit (not installed) Arizona z Car manifold with brand new 390 4bbl holley brand new (only tuning time) 4 row aluminum radiator Diamond racing 16x10s widest offset 85-90% tread on tires Pertronics electronic ignition kit Pertronics blaster coil 6 extra perf spark plugs R200 (1983 na zx) low miles with all shafts moustache bar and etc. (not installed) zx 5spd (not installed) Complete weatherstrip kit (not installed) All working gauges (minus clock) Race style pedals and other various accents Car is currently in primer, but may be painted bmw dark silver prior to sale. I have a gallon of dark silver (gun metal) and 2 quarts of black. Thinner, clear, hardener and etc. Car would either be painted or paint could be included in sale not installed. Car Needs: Body work, plain and simple. predominantly rust free, small spots in floor boards and that is it. Frame rails, struts and etc are solid. Car needs sanding, paint and etc. Lots of parts and lots and lots of work. Is it worth the sale?

car also has full xenon body kit, (front, sides and rear spoiler). Only front spoiler is on. And has a set of fiberglass zg flares that haave been removed for paint.

I took out the old alt, voltage regulator, and am swapping in a GM 12si unit. Search Gm 12si and there are a couple threads on the subject and other Gm altenators. I found the one by hizandherz very helpful. Im having a friend and electrician wire mine but i purchased the EZ 21 circuit harness and it had an altenator circuit in the fuze box, forgoing the need for the fusible links and the altenator has a voltage regulator already built in. The Ez wiring harness I have is Gm based to the altenator wired right up. When Its all finished Ill try to put up pics in a seperate thread. -

**** update **** Due to an excellent deal. I went with the EZ wiring 21 circuit harness. It looks awesome! Me and my Wiring guy are mounting the fuseblock and have the engine wired, currently he is working on a subharness for the headlights that will fix the low light problem. We have been taking allot of pics and will ultimately post them on the site to help you guys out. The harness is being wired to an L24 which is different from most being used on v8's but the car had so many shorts a new harness had to be used. I know I will never need 21 circuits for this car even if I go Ls1, but 12 was too few and the 21 was only $150.00 shipped for everything. I just purchased this altenator: Its an upgraded Gm 12si that is a 110 amp unit, and have begun fabricating a bracket thanks to following the the thread from hizandherz http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115550 I also built a paint booth in my garage/car port (it has no door) to paint when the wiring job is finished Its simply a braced 2x4 frame that will be wrapped in thick plastic and vented with two high velocity box fans. Its not the prettiest but it works! It has a swing style barn door that latches to seal in the car. Total it fits the car and gives me 3 feet of workspace on all sides and I can park my parts car next door!

got mine at 21. I was tired of driving around old slow boxy bmw's (dont get me wrong I love bimmers) all which had 200+thousand miles on them. I saw my z on ebay for 1700.00 and the 16x10 diamonds on grey primer sold me. It looked sexy and wild. I had 2,000 in my account lol so of course I bought it. Apparently my addiction came from my childhood and my father having 3. Apparently He also used to strap my car seat in the cargo area since it was a two seater.

sorry perhaps I mis-stated my inquiry. I have a 1972 240z (s30) that needs an exhaust and I found a good set-up that is 2.5 mandrell that was built for a280zx 2+2. I was trying to see if it would fit my 240z

Generally speaking... Would it be feasible in your opinion bolt a s130 exhaust up to a s30? I can get a good deal on a custom 2.5" mandrell system for a 280zx 2+2 but Im not sure how well it will fit. I have checked out the underside of an s130 but its hard to tell. Are there any reasons it shouldnt work? any big obstacles. Im going to make some measurements tomorrow on an s130, but I cannot see the exhaust so I dont know its dimensions. I figured someone had tried or looked into this before on the site, and I couldnt really come up with a creative search

Wanted! Any exhaust set ups for a 240z. I have 1972 with homemade redneck straight pipes they look terrible and sound worse. Can either be complete with or without header. thanks! Marcus

I have a question that I feel like I know the answer to, but now that my hard drive wont open I cannot seem to find with search whether or not the sbc will mate to the datsun T5 out of a 1982 280zx NA. I have the r200 and t5 5spd out of the 280 NA and Im thinking of buying a built 400 sb. ?? Everyone seems to use the chevy T5 which is harder to find, and I already have the Datto

do you have modify or work the ecu or computer or can you simply remove the efi, and change the fuel pump and add the AZCar manifold and holley?
