  1. my thoughts exactly jeffer949, It's worth it, in my opinion, even though I've now tried the "cheaper dash repair alternative" method of repairing my dash, it still does not satisfy me. The cables are so old in that car that things are just ripping out and not working anymore... in my opinion, 1k is a small sum to pay for something that works flawlessly in the car, and plus, looks a million times better, and it looks CLEAN!
  2. ♥♥♥♥ man that's not bad at all for a complete dash swap. IS that just prep work (aka setup) or the whole thing? reason I ask is because I'd do a horrible job custom-fitting something into that car. I had enough trouble with reinstalling the old dash...
  3. Hey, how much were they asking? I dont have a ton of money, but I"m interested in swapping the old dash out because it really does look like crap compared to some of the new cleaner stuff. And its a bitch to work with/around
  4. yup, those are very cool stories, and gave me some motivation to finish mine X(
  5. http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/z/0016.asp ok click on this, look to the bottom where it has a picture of the regulator assembly. I need to know what the joint is that joins the rod from the door handle and the rod going to the actual door latch. Mine's broken or missing, so I need to know how/what I need to do/buy so I can fix it to work properly again Much thanks! oh and do you think its worth it to spend 119 on a window regulator if mine's broken?
  6. He's not patenting the idea... hes just doing it himself which is completely legal. Anyways, I just installed speedhut reverse-EL Glow gauges and I will let you know how these work when I finish hooking up the dash
  7. alright well update: Figures, after reading several reports of "DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY SUCK BAWLZ!" I think I'm going to have to say the same They shipped the wrong thing to me I wanted the matrix seats I listed above, but instead they shipped the other one, only it's a different brand. I actually can't even find teh color combination of the specific seat they sent me. I'm not going to bother sending it back or trying to get a refund, because they're incredibly comfortable, and the right colors, but for the money I spent and amount of times I tried to get through to them, this company is not something you want to deal with. Sure they have really good prices, but it will take like a month to get your seats, and for me I needed them to start up finishing work on my 240 Ah well, ♥♥♥♥ happens, and time passes.. so I move on These will not fit with the stock seat brackets. I am going to have to install my own brackets lower, because my head hits the roof (6'4") SO I will make a drawing of what I make so that other people can make them too... I believe most seats now have the same exact hole-alignment for mounting anyways, I'll keep updating as I get further into the project
  8. Night owl bananna or apple? . oh crap lol, didnt see your post man / | LS1
  9. that's so much better, I knew there had to be an easier solution
  10. alright, I should have searched, all this info Ive been asking for was there, and I didnt find it X( anyways, there are some people saying that they wish they had just gone with the manual "make the tranny send out the cable" kit from JTR rather than the Cable-X system. Either way, they're both really expensive.
  11. because I can't work with aluminum very well, and wood is infinitely easier to shape with simple tools available to me. anybody have the dimensions?
  12. Hey there, I'm going to attempt to replace the actual glovebox cardboard compartment with thin wood, but first I need someone to make measurements of theirs, because I ended up ripping out the rotted old one I had in my dash. I will provide everyone with step-by-steps on how I do it, so you no longer have to worry about buying a 10-40 buck piece of cardboard to put in your car, or about it rotting which was my main concern when contemplating how best to reassemble the dash. It will not add much weight over the cardboard since I'll be using thin wood, and the weight will be worth it in my opinion because it won't rot like cardboard will if it gets wet or moist at all. Thanks ahead of time, Ken
  13. hey man, I'm in the same exact position as you, some of the NoS parts that people offer are just outrageously overpriced. hell a bunch of screws for 10 bucks?!?! what is that? I guess purists will spend more than me 10 times out of 10 I've just been told that a lot of people use flat head sheet metal screws in place of the rivets or at least until they find some real ones. I'll be trying this soon because I need something as well to hold in those pesky panels. check thezstore.com, I think they had them fairly cheap on the site.
  14. thanks tony c that really does help now I know it'll fit inside the car. My main concern was just fitting it in so it wouldnt hit the door or window. Now that's out of the way, fabbing up a new mounting bracket shouldnt be too hard. heck, I might even just remove the old seat mounts, and make some new ones thatll be easier to access. it would make more sense for me because the driver's front mount is badly cracked along the old screw hole. I like the idea of sliders, so I'm going to try to get that to work along with it. I will keep you updated with what I end up fabbing to make the seats fit, and installation progress. thanks
  15. that sounds great. I'm looking forward to building a 377 sbc which revs decently high. That'll be about all my budget can afford and probably the best sound/highrpms I could get anyways. BTW, if anyone has a 377, would you mind recording a sound clip or video of it going? I'd like to see/hear some of what its capable of before I dive head deep into doing one.
  16. quick question, are those the fiberglass door panels that I've been reading about on a thread here at HBZ? if so, let me know how they fit and such, or I'll just end up throwing in the towel and making my own.
  17. well so far, the service from them has really sucked. There is no UPS tracking number from them, their mailbox is full, and no one answers the phone. On the online tracking page they have, all it said for about a week was "pending" then one night, without any notification, it said intransit. Is it just me, or do a lot of people hate being held in the dark like this? anyways, I'm looking forward to getting the seats in sometime soon, and I"ll let everyone know how they fit. I got the http://www.shophyperformance.com/cgi-bin/hp/001300.html model seats by the way. more to come soon
  18. I'm in san jose, and I have two panels, one of them in not so great shape. The other one I think it fine. I'm highly interested in getting some replacements simply because it's a huge pain in the ass to get originals or repair the current ones. I'd rather get some fiberglass ones, mount a nice speaker to it, and paint it black or grey or make it look nice PM me and I'll look into those panels I have for my '70 240z. it's a low serial number (my sig)
  19. WOW, thanks Mike!!! that looks better than the other options I had, have you gotten a quote on that at all? it doesnt show a price really
  20. not to hijack this thread, but is there a semi-easy way to hook up a mech-speedometer to the T-56?
  21. oh wow, I thought for sure the fuel pump would shut off everything. You said you've had it off for several weeks only? My car had been sitting for 7 years before starting it again and had the same symptoms. Then we started it, and just held the gas down to keep the rpms up at about 4k to pass the old gas through. Glad the fuel pump has helped so far though. I had a ton of water and other ♥♥♥♥ in my gas tank so I poured some water remover and it worked a fair bit better. but that doesnt sound like it's your problem. At this point I have no clue.
  22. In everyone's opinion, how worth it was the purchase? I'm incredibly interested in having backlit gauges, don't mind not being able to see the needle with ultimate ease, and was wondering what everyone else thought? How much of an upgrade was this compared to the standard gauges? in terms of lighting? quality? look? anything else? thanks, Ken
  23. I can almost 100% guarantee that it's the fuel pump, consult a few more people, then try replacing it. it wants to die because the engine can't get the fuel it needs to mix with the air, thus it sputters and dies or almost dies. Mine had the same problem, only after 7 years of sitting X(
  24. this is probably really noobish question, but what body kit parts are on the lower of the car (aka. MSA kit lvl1,2,3)? I really like, and think Ive seen it at MSA, but I just wanted to verify that it was one of those before I make my mind up.
  25. it does 2126, but I really can't stand the look of those fixed-fit seats. I actually truth be told cannot stand the feel of them either, so I am forced by my own prerogative to get adjustable ones. Anyways, thanks for the input and such, and I'm going to be ordering those seats, but from a different site because shophyperformance.com doesnt ship those until the 25th, and I wanna DRIFT BABY!!! vroom! I will keep you posted on the fit and such of the matrix seats, and I'll post any pics of stuff I have to fab to make it fit if anything...
