  1. thanks zmanco. i had PM'd katman before i posted in this thread and he just got back to me. he says..... Quote....First, they run the diff backwards on the front of the truck so the gears are broken in a different direction so it may whine (which we didn't care about because it was on a race car). i'm gonna run it in a street car and don't mind a little whine but what about wear on the gears if any? what results have you had with yours?
  2. thanks a lot zmanco. i'm not familiar with all the terms yet...... in the haynes book they're calling it a flange yoke (what i was calling a stub axle) but from what i gather if i use all my 240 stuff on the bare 4x4 (chunk) it's a direct bolt in. is that right? also is it a LSD?
  3. so let me get this straight.....i found an 84 720 4x4 w/4:11 front diff. is this a direct bolt in in a 73 240 with the r180? can i keep the 4x4 stub axles and bolt my half-shafts to it? also will the drive-shaft flange on the 4x4 diff work with the 240 drive-shaft?
  4. i've searched through numerous threads and have found some conflicting info about the parts i need to do the swap. i have a 3:90 from a 82 2+2 already that i plan on using after swapping the stuff i need to. with a 73 i think i can use my driveshaft and possibly my diff mount. i found a 76 2+2 to get the complete rear clip from it but i don't know if the mustache bar and drive-shaft length is different from a coupe. i've read that the mustache bar is different in a 75 280 so it could be different in all 2+2's. if anyone could give me some info i'd greatly appreciate it as i don't wanna buy the 2+2 stuff if it won't work.
  5. i'm about to do the same thing (i think). round port head to square header. which gasket should i use? round or square? thanks
  6. wow... looks like an opel gt (rear), rx-8 (side) except for the roof line, and 911 (front) all rolled into one. i like it
  7. i think the 75's are different from what i understand. i'm still not sure about what parts i need to do it myself, just finding out a little here and there.
  8. i need the mustache bar, driveshaft, and whatever else i need to put a 3:90 R200 from an 82 2+2 into a 73 240. i think i need the half-shafts as well. i'm near atlanta and the zip is 30052. thanks
  9. glad you like the weather here.......wonderful isn't it? i've seen some of your videos man. scary fast!!!
  10. don't forget marilyn manson...... what? he's a dude? no way! haha
  11. ok. thanks guys. has anyone used or heard of these? they're moly steel instead of aluminum for $400. $100 more than the e-bay fidanzo's. http://www.upgrademotoring.com/performance/jun/ltflywheel.htm
  12. hi there OTM. i tried to send a private message to you to see if you still have the lightweight flywheel but your box is full. i saw on one of your threads that you were parting out your L-6 stuff. if so, please send me a PM and we can talk. also i'm near atlanta. thanks
  13. here are some pics. it may belong to someone on hybridZ.
  14. sale-vgrnz-1177686284@craigslist.org this is on atlanta craigslist. i'm a newbie and wanna know if this is a good turbo set-up or not to start off with? if so, what kind of $$ would i be looking at to finish it up.....ballpark? any advice would be appreciated.
  15. i admit.....i don't know anything about turbos. i'll read the stickies!
  16. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/V-BAND-TURBO-KIT-DAEWOO-DAIHATSU-DATSUN-DODGE-EAGLE_W0QQitemZ260421819655QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3ca2599d07&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12|39%3A1|72%3A1205|240%3A1318 i don't know if i posted the link right.....would it be a decent set-up to run on a flat-top f54/p79 motor with the low boost level. i think it said 7-8 pounds of boost. if so, what else would i need to do the installation besides the turbo exhaust manifold?
  17. to answer zedsns's question......i did think about the fidanza but at 10 or 11 pounds i think it may be too light for the street from reading through the posts. i've also found a guy to lighten mine for $85-$150 at GM Tooling in gwinnett co. ga. he said he would get it down to 17 lbs. although, i have a 2+2 and a coupe flywheel. should i use the 240mm for the larger surface area (but more weight of the pressure-plate) or go with the 225mm for the lighter weight pressure-plate. i also have a centerforce (stage 2 i think with the weights on the pressure-plate for the 225mm) although i don't want the hard clutch all the time on the street so i don't think i'll use it.
  18. zcarnut's post was pretty in-depth....i asked the guy does it have a y70 and he says it has an a3 on it. anything special?
  19. here are the pics of it. it may belong to someone on hybridZ
  20. i've been reading up on different flywheels and i was told that the 70 was lighter (19lbs) than the others at 23lbs. is this the case? do you think that a 4lb difference is worth the effort or should i be looking at an aftermarket one? a guy on craigslist said he weighed it at 19lbs....$100
  21. i was searching about the swap and found this thread. has anyone made any progress? i'm asking because i can get an 85 535i cheap, although it's an automatic. i'd want a 5-speed if i did it. any thoughts?
  22. i'm talking to a guy about an 87 turbo and i wanna know how to tell if it is a W or A-B series. i've searched web and have seen conflicting statements about the production dates when they were switched. some say 5/87 and another said 8/87 is when they changed them. any advice would be appreciated.
  23. now i don't care who you are, that's FUNNY right there!
  24. i say it looks like a modified rx7--mid 90's......did i win???
  25. yea that's them. they still have the others also. i just don't know about glue or tape....
