  1. there is a shop in santa ana or santa fe springs that does custom z-zx performance work, i cant remeber the name for the life of me does any one no there name. i searched the net and came up super short. i think it was valdini or veldini. thanks for the help.
  2. just had to chime in with my 2 centavo's, i would also think about a cam option. im still on the fence myself on M/S i've heard bad and good things regarding the product. but this is a good research place to form your thoughts on your build, good luck
  3. thanks for the info, my ? is the same as above^^^ what about the front any difference or is that too a direct swap from a z31?
  4. has any body changed there bolt pattern from the 4 lug to 5 lug with out using adapters? if so what did you use (make model). i want to change to 5 lug for availbilty of rim selection. i was thinking that the 84 300zx might be what im looking for for this, however i dont know the difference if any in the hub/nuckle. sorry if this has been addresed before when i searched i got nothing(dont know if the search keywords where narrow enough).
  5. BSD im iterested in your dash how much and can shoot a better pic of it
  6. well i got to ask after seening your other thread, but did you get the running lights fixed?
  7. hey Gollum maybe up in SF but in S Los Angeles there are quite a few. I own a 82 slick top (coupe) with no body alterations. i never thought that it was like a needle in the haystack find i only payed $600 for her to
  8. i bought a heavy duty light harness at black dragon did the install and the lights didnt come on, rechecked everything but nothing. has anyone had this problem with this harness if so what was your fix to rezolve it. bought the harness because i updated the head lamps. i also did a quick search but i came across other issuses that i dont have regarding head lights. all help is welcomed. i hate to send it back and all it is, is some thing stupid.
  9. i got it no fabbing required just a lil $ is involed. ok here it is ........ wait for it ....... tadaaa go buy a s30 and you get the front end space desired. sorry to be a dick but the only way to get remotly close to that look is to get down an fabb it up.
  10. i have seen a zx with the z tail lights it was ok but it looked a lil funky to me (might have been a bad job). IMO i really dont care for the tail lights (changing them that is), as a friend told me "it dont make you no faster". i have the ones with the lines running through them i think i will just tint them.
  11. well i dont know if this is been addressed but I am a lil curious to know what type of wiring harness's people are using for there V8 chevy conversions. I will be converting to a 5.3 (lq4) wich to my understanding has all the same bolt patterns as a LT/LS motor. the only thing i am really not sure on is the wiring. i will not be doing the swap myself due to not having all the resources to pull it off (no place to store the vehicle and no cherrypicker to pull and put in the new motor), i will be suppling all the coponets nessary or shall i say major items that i can buy to cut cost on the shop buying and charging me for it (i manly want more labor cost than part cost). i have looked at the painless harness but the thing i didnt understand was the ignition information. they say it is keyed for the gm/chevy ignition, does this mean i will have to splice into the ingy wiring of the Z to hook up to the painless? or should i go with a uni harness or a different harness all together? basically what im asking is what has been your expirence with the harnesses that you have on your rides if your using a aftermarket harness. i figure might as well update all the wiring while the motor is out of the car. sorry for any spelling issuse i typed this really fast at work
  12. that sucks i think im having some elec issuses as well. hey Tyler where is the ignition/acc relay located my plroblem seems to be more common to what you went through.
  13. i really dont think the extra 100lbs is going to make to much of a difference since most s30s and s130s run very light as is i think the number for my coupes wieght was somthing like 2900 or so (i cant remember the official scaled weight). but the power to weight will make up for the 100lbs. hell lq's make 300hp out the box thats nearly 2x's the power of a l28. on another note i dont know if this has been mentioned and havent searched for it yet but does anyone know what the stock springs can hold if you swap in a v8 ( i had a grand national v6 and swaped to a early model sbc and had to get the reagal v8 springs to pick up the nose) would this be the same with a v8 swap in a z
  14. well this kida summed it for me i think i will be moving on to one of the lq/ls motors when i do my swap nexted year since an rb looks to be a nightmare with all the "i cant find this part but overseas and it cost 350 plus shipping" <..... and thats where my opinion switched for the good ole domestic GM/Chevy V8 unless i can get my hands on a 5.0cammer by ford
  15. has any one done a lq9 the predecessor to the lq4 or also known as the vortec max wich came in the caddys ext with 10.1 comp. i read it is supposed to be basically the same motor but high output. if this is true wouldnt it be a better swap than the lq4
  16. you might be able to get the diagram here if its still up on the site http://www.xenons130.com
  17. i would be interested but i would like to see how the door panel would look like and since my 280zx has pw how would that fair on the purchase
  18. i am in the market for one and before i purchace one i just want to know what you guys/gals are running and how you like it.
  19. at first i didnt think it would be a good idea but then i looked at it and the reference portion of that site is pretty cool it lets you get wire diagrams charts and such. for first hand expirence stuff hybrid z hands down but the other stuff that i metioned is pretty cool. i say do it and if you can get walk throughs and add-ons information for the s130 then evan better. i dont think he is trying to make it a forum based site from the looks just a web based chilton.
  20. ^^ any v motor that is high tuned does not need a collector, it will inhibit your full potential not running true dual exhaust. the difference is the diameter of the piping. if this was not the case then companies like hks borla ect would not make duals for cars like the 350z or g35 or for that matter porschewould not be dual exhaust. now a collecter is true for inline motors only, whether it is 4 6 or 8 cylinders. but then again i was first asking about the Y pipe set up for a L28 280zx i.e. 1 into 2 set up
  21. that sounds like the same type of set up i seen on a g35, i think hks made that set up for it if i am not mistaken
  22. ^^that was kinda the same thought i was having except i wasnt sure as to where the Y would be placed before or after the sub just a thought ive been tinkering with since i havnt seen to many with that type of set up.
  23. thats great but im talking about the l28 (inline six) not a V8. i now it can be done on a V motor but what about the inline
  24. can this be don an a 280zx with a Y pipe and is there enough clearence under the rear suspinion on the z for it (mind the typos im tired).
  25. ^^^ its not really a side track warren you raised a interesting question regarding the the fuel sensor. i am very interested in in all the information i can get on changing the center cluster out and updating not only the look but fuctionality of this out dated module.
