  1. ok yes i tried searching but got misc. info regarding intakes like types, set ups and throttle bodys to use. i know there is a thread here, can some one shoot me a link, i want to finally clean up the intake and dont want to trouble shoot it till i get it right (as far as taking off non-important stuff). on a side note, i thought it was a sticky o well. please dont beat me with the search stick, either it has been removed or i dont have the right key words to use. i tried intake, intake clean up, intake manifold, intake manifold clean up, and so on. thanks in advace!
  2. here here ^^, i get what the author states on regards to the toe in/out and camber, dont get the math but do have a grasp of what they are saying. my question is this, how pratical is it? by no means is a e30 suspension a bolt on with a few bangs of a good BFH. wouldnt it be more pratical to fab the e30 suspension in to the zx's bolt postion, but if your going to do this why not utilize a s13, i.e. get some steele and match the deminsions of the e30 to the zx bolt locations. sorta like this guy i saw on here (cant recall his screen name) i think, who shoved (alott of cutting and welding) a c5 vette rearend under his z. doing the front will require alot more finesse but if your going through the trouble of the rear, why not take the front end down as well. when and only when (complete tear down and rebuild) i feel it is time to take this on i plan on getting some thick adjustible four link bars cut, mock and burn them in and make (just need to remember the geometry of the stock parts) my own kit unless arizona z makes one for the zx, i like the one for the z. for now a set of ultra cool coil overs will do.
  3. another zx v8 swapper here, guys zx (lt80 sumthing sorry guy forgot you screen name) is a very clean v8. im going with the jtr mounts and headers they reccomend (i think they use hooker. i am almost certain any block hugger header is fine), custom headers can also work but bring your wallet. also investing in a performace custom built drive shaft that has rebuildable u-joints. my project is still in the parts phase for the v8. i am currently doing chassis, brake, and suspension upgrades before shoe horning a v8 in (chasing a 91 octane 400hp dream in a car that wieghs nothing......the wifes got the life insurance papers out again...lol).
  4. im glad you brought this up, i was wondering about thier exhaust system good piece of info about fitment. i wonder if the issue is with a stock cat, would a aftermarket cat work better. i plan to change out the complete exhaust system and dont want the more restrictive stock cat. regarding using bolt over studs and vice versa is there a big difference or more of a personal opinion?
  5. nice pic, but i dont like the hood ordament nor the bulky side mirrors. for some reason i get the feel of photoshopped but then again it might be me.
  6. same boat over here as well. i plan on pulling the stereo housing out and adapting a more square unit in its place. but then again i dont have a stereo now... lol....go figure .
  7. augghhh the old smog issue... nice.... i have a zx 82 to be exact i know you asked s30 guys but i did some checking (when i got her and decided to go v8) and spoke with the dmv. per the rep if you swap to a different engine, that engine must provide the same smog requirements to pass if it was in said car it came out of. meaning if you swap in a lt1 out of a camero/ vette/ impala that motor must meet the same smog standards in the z/zx as if it where in the above mentioned vehicles. the smog tech is supposed to provide you with a new under-the-hood sticker pertaining to the smog codes for that motor (for future smoging), i beleave. there are various ways to walk around the law, as for me, im going to get a motor out of a smog exempt car like a 70's camero/firebird and slap on some modern componets ....heh heheee! that'll fix arnold blasted bs he laid down on the car guys! please correct me if i am wrong, ca dmv employees are idiots... i take that back they can be idiots! ps this does not include state referree. they may see things differently
  8. i also have thought of doing such to my zx. i do not think you will be able to craft this with out the bucket lens covers. also you would need to build a custom rig to hold a light bucket at the right angle needed for proper alignment before mounting to the car (face it alot of testing will be needed before actual mount testing). since i too thought of the mini as a good option, i came to the conclusion that you would need to basicaly gut the mini's head light housing and modify it to the z/zx bucket, using the z/zx bucket lens cover as the new lens not to forget the molding for weather and seal it up to be water tight. the bucket will then just be the light assembly like a modern car instead of the oem styling of yester year. although it sound fairly easy it will be like pulling teeth, i am holding off on this mod till i get my zx where i want it performace wise inside and out before i start it. i have bigger fish to fry first .....
  9. has any body used these and how did you like them? sorry if this has been addressed. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=66
  10. Sweet! and there is the start. i thought that the accord would fit but wasnt for sure (cousin has a acura integra and was inspecting his spare dummy tire) didnt have my zx with me (otherwise i would have ripped my wheel off and check it against mine) at the time, just my truck.
  11. as i start apon my quest for rims i would like to know if there is a list of aftermarket rim manufacturers that is known to work with the s30/s130 z/zx cars on the site, i have searched but didnt find any real usefull information in regards to it. the only thing i have found is the stuff on vendor sites like MSA. i understand grumpyvette posted a great thread on the tech side of rims like back spacing information and how to figure out what will work with your set up. however that is not what i am asking, i know what size i want and what offset i want to use. my problem is some rim companies dont list the z cars as possible vehicles that there rim will fit on. also if you know what other type of 4 lug vehicle has the same bolt pattern as the z/zx cars (example lexani LT-704 fits BMW,BENZ, BENTLY not listed but will also fit a chevy 5 lug bolt pattern as well) that would be great and dont kill me on the example it was just that an example...lol. maybe a great list to have instead of countless mind numbing hrs searching for rims for these cars! beleave me if i new what other car maker shared the same bolt pattern as the z/zx it would save a great headache
  12. thats cool i dont need the the wiring, i just want to swap it into mine i will revit (hope i spelled that wright) my vin to it. also i dont need the radio portion. my dash is just cracked to ♥♥♥♥ (exuce my french), so yes i would like to get that off your hands.
  13. was going to say the same thing.
  14. how much for the dash? would you be willing to ship to cali (91402). noticed in an earlier post you pefered not too, just wondering.
  15. i am interested in some parts you got there. understandable with the full time job however could you take some interior pics as well as the other side of the vehicle? i ask cause im interested in the dash and possible front driver fender and light bucket.
  16. i have to second that ^^ i think a proper set up s130 is pretty quick.
  17. i figure that i could have the drive shaft customized/built to mate to the input of the different T5 (chevy) and eliminate that issue, and swap bells out. also i thought it might be better there, but then i thought it should be here because I'm interested only on the S130 application due to body difference.
  18. I recently was thinking about swapping in a new tranny (from my understanding world class T5's were not in N/A's...could be wrong). my question is this does any one know if the T5 NWC has a removable bell? also is the bell for the NWC the same as the WC (basically is one really better than the other when your talking about the bell housing). i was thinking i could buy a T5 for a Camero and drop it in (figure of speach) and use my current throw out and bell and any other needed parts and mate it to my L6, then I could just get the V8 later and then i would have a tranny to go with it untill i shelled out the shillings for a T56. please dont kill me if this has been addressed, if you could just point me in the right direction with a link or some keywords for my searching. the one thing i hate about this site is also the same thing i love about this site. it is this, not all thing z/zx related are interchangable, but most are. so i hate when you search and all you find is s30 answers and then your left with no clue if it will work on your s130 application.
  19. i need a driver side replacement fender. i just plan on going to the scrap yard and find one in decent shape. you should try the ones in your area. however i do believe black dragon offers some zx sheet metal. i haven't tried them for the sheet, freight cost makes it pricey. if i where you i would try some local yards or shops in your area. if you pull it off a zx, fitment should be perfect on your car, at least as close as you can before you prep for paint and really dial it in. also a junk/scrap yard gives you a tangible piece to inspect on your own.
  20. didnt the "gobots" also have one?
  21. dont for get silver streak. although silver streak later appears as a different car (suburu)
  22. it should read "So lavishly appointed, there are virtually NO options! Get blown away by its AWSOMENESS", then cut scene to guy looking in the camera with the Bandit stache with the chick sitting in the passenger seat! sometimes, yes the late 70's early 80's did rock!
  23. flopping around in the wind, is that the neoporene (soft plastic like rubber, i cant spell it). if so that is one reason i am staying away from those and going with a hard or glassed air dam.
  24. i call that the corvette floating feeling. that used to be the case with them as well. how hard is it to hit 140 in a stock s30, i thought all z/zx's hit a brick wall at about 90mph and slowly crawled up unless youve got some performace mods under the hood goiing on.
  25. i think the main arguments here a more on the looks side than anything else. for the most part they both have great gains in performace with mods and tweaks here and there. the interior for both are greatly out dated but then again look at the years of both gens (Z & ZX) in question. one lacks areo the other inproved on areo. one is sleak the other more agressive styling. i believe it comes down to preference, me myself, i like both hell all except for the body of 88 -96 years. the only problem i have with the S130 is performace part upgrades, as you all know needles are sometimes hard to find. on a side note i think the only thing that really kept me out of the seat of a S30 was cabin space. i am a big guy (6'5) and leg room is my first priority, also i do not like 2+2 Z's or ZX's. they just look streched out to much, but thats my opinion. thats why i love my coupe .....yeah me!
