  1. Which holes did you drill out? The ones that mount the bracket to the floor, or the holes for the seat bolts? If you were referring to the ones that bolt the bracket to the floor, did you essentially just have to widen the holes to get the entire bracket towards the trans tunnel? Just mentally prepping myself for when the brackets show up
  2. Just went to the Planted site, they look exactly like the bracket I ordered from Sparco... they probably build it for them. Did yours look pretty much like this? http://www.plantedtechnology.com/s/cc_images/cache_3714995004.jpg?t=1354744982 What did you have to modify? And did you bash in your tunnel?
  3. Random update: My late 260z basically can't have these seats mounted properly, centered to the steering wheel, without 2 things: bashing in the transmission tunnel, and fabricating new mounts. The stock sliders can be attached to the seat, but there's not enough room to move the main mounting bolt holes far enough to get the seat centered... it's just not possible IMO. I've ordered a Sparco mount and will update progress once it gets here, for future reference.
  4. You want whatever width wheel the tire mfg specifies for your particular tire. They generally publish a recommended width and an upper and lower width limit for any given tire. 245/45/16 is SLIM PICKINS for tires. You'll have to find the tire first, then work backwards from there. Look at posts 6,7,8 on the first page. He runs 245/50 on an 8" wide wheel with +10 offset, and still had to roll the fenders to avoid rubbing. I can't imagine it would work at all with a 0 offset wheel- you'd chew up your fenders completely.
  5. Actually I took the liberty of doing the conversion myself, it was £5k in the video
  6. Did you catch the pricetag? $8000 for suspension....... per corner. I guess you gotta pay big if you want a flying car.
  7. EVO youtube channel always has good stuff on, but this just takes the cake..
  8. http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp Now you're a tire expert
  9. 17x8 would fit just as easily as 16x8 so Im not following your dilemma.. unless you're talking aesthetics. Personally I think these cars are very well served with 16" wheels and 17s almost look out of place. It sucks that 16" tire selection is getting slimmer and slimmer.
  10. Beauty! What are the specs on those wheels/tires?
  11. You'll be just fine with a 240Z, I can guarantee that. The stock brackets mount up pretty easily to the seats, you'll have to offset the holes a bit but that should do it. The late 260Z and 280Z on the other hand are simply not possible without addressing the transmission tunnel. I have my seat wedged in there on stock brackets and its about 3/4" off center. I've driven it a few times and its okay, but I can't keep it that way forever...
  12. How much camber on the rear? That rear suspension and hub setup must be further inboard than stock.. at least thats what it looks like from the pics, considering your 265mm tire is still tucked quite a ways under the stock fender.
  13. Where in Ontario are you? Come by my place if you wanna see one in the car and the other being installed Im in Mississauga.
  14. For me personally its strictly about the look. My 205s look pathetic from the rear of the car.. like bicycle tires.
  15. ktm I think you have me sold on the 245s, I just think I'd prefer a 245/45... the 50 seems kinda tall. If Im buying new wheels though I might just go staggered with a 225 up front to avoid rubbing.
  16. Yeesh every time I think I've figured out the largest size, someone one-ups it... 265 under stock fenders. Damn. What specifically do you have on the rear and how is it different, dimensionally, than the stock setup? Whats the backspace and offset on your wheels? I'm impressed that you got that much tire under there... now I need to know if I can get away with a 265 with just coilovers on stock hubs and fenders.
  17. I was really put off by their last sale, advertised at 15% off... unfortunately they make no mention that the standard 10% multi-gauge discount no longer applies for a sale, so really it was only an additional 5% off. Anyone know what their holiday sales are like? Deeper savings possible?
  18. Instant email notification my friend, 21st century stuff! Good addition. I'll try to be neat about it and not use a ball-peen hammer directly on the metal I'll post up some photos if I go this route.
  19. My garage is on top of my living room and it has a glass floor!!!!!! Jokes aside, you're right.. in fact the only time it will matter is if/when I sell the car and take undercarriage shots. But you're right, it's only an inch or two... maybe I'll just go that route
  20. Thanks for the info. I wonder how going to a 245/45 instead of the tall 50 would change that behaviour. I have a 260Z with no front valance.. I just checked my 205/50/16 on the rear and I easily have another 1.5" of space before I hit suspension, and the wheels are 4" backspace. I think a 245/45/16 on an 8.5" wheel would work in the back.
  21. ktm any shots directly from behind? the fitment looks great.. no rubbing up front?
  22. I don't know how those hubs contribute to the overall scope of this discussion ^^^ so it probably doesn't do him much good with an unknown offset and backspace. I'd love to get 245's on the back of my car without even rolling the lips, just with coilovers. I suspect it's very possible, just gotta do the math on wheel offset/backspace properly.
  23. I'm tossed up about this method, it'll leave the tunnel (underneath especially) really beat up and nasty looking... and that's a permanent 'fix' lol Will have to weigh my options. I suppose the only clean way to go now would be cutting and welding, and I suck at both
  24. I recently read about people with 280z cars having issues with aftermarket seats on the driver side because the trans tunnel has a bulge that earlier cars didn't have. I'm now wondering if my 74 260Z also has that bulge preventing me from moving the seat closer to the center console. I'd love to get it another 1/2-1" over to the center of the car and away from the door.
