  1. Thanks I appreciate your help. Like I alluded to in the title, Im a bit of a tard in the suspension department. I thought that maybe a loose gland nut would allow the shock or shaft to slide up. Anyways, I've tightened the top nut and the clunk went away readily... I'll now have to keep an eye on it to see if it shifts up again, I've made note of the number of threads sticking up so I'll know if it loosened vs shifted upwards. Regarding the camber and installation of the suspension, its an Arizona Z Car coilover setup. To me it looks exactly the same as the installation procedure photos seen here: http://www.arizonazcar.com/camberplate.html It may be the angle of the pic throwing you off, nothing is cross-threaded or crooked. I was able to tighten the nut freely.
  2. If it wasn't loose yesterday but came loose today then it didn't tighten itself right? I'm asking if its possible that the shaft itself slid further UP after I jacked the wheel off the ground and then lowered it down. And I know this isn't the gland nut I'm asking if a loose gland but could allow for the above situation. Thanks
  3. To clarify, this nut was not loose after driving the car yesterday.
  4. Ive been chasing a clunk somewhere in the car and it seems to happen on front left rebound. I just jacked the car up and put it back down, and noticed this (big center nut is several threads loose) Is this a loose gland nut or something? Is the whole shock sliding out of the strut tube? I redneck-checked the gland last summer but don't have a proper spanner to do it right. Is my diagnosis correct? Thanks
  5. Any more pics or a walkaround of the car? Curious about the tires too, I want fatter rubber in the back but without going to flares. And what size is that exhaust? Sounds good!
  6. Shame you didn't get what you ordered - those first seats are downright gorgeous.
  7. Yeah the computer generated imagery truly is nice
  8. Not to derail the thread, but can you post an update and maybe a quick review of that ezcarlift when you get it? I'm very curious to know how a Z owner likes it and if its a good purchase. Build looks amazing btw.
  9. Any pics of the underneath of the seats prior to installation? Im having a HELL of a time getting my damned R100's to fit... I bought Sparco brackets too and they're next to useless. Losing my mind. What year is your car? You left the front seat bracket on the floor but removed just the rear? Sounds odd.
  10. Those look impressive. You'll likely have to address the trans tunnel hump to get them installed correctly, though.
  11. ^^ That looks cool, got in-car shots?
  12. I wrapped the section of exhaust under my tunnel, and put heat-reflective material on the underside of the tunnel. It made a noticeable difference. YMMV.
  13. The, uh, 'robust' handbrake setup made me think it was gonna be a drift-oriented car. Doesn't matter, for whatever you end up using it, it's an insane build!
  14. Judging by the interior shots, it looks like it will serve drift duty.. in which case the extra 12" of wheelbase would be a big benefit.
  15. The distance left to right (center to center) was 12.5" +/- I suggest you snap a photo of your floor, measure the holes side to side as well as front to back and take special note of whether the rear holes are flat or angled (scroll up for my pic) and then send that info to sales@plantedtechnology.com if you can use their brackets. Jeff helped me out a ton- the bracket they had listed (and Sparco) for 74+ cars didn't fit at all in mine. I had to send him the measurements and photos and it turned out they designed brackets for my specific car as well- they were just never sure which particular model years were what. My car (and possibly yours) was an oddity, but they manufactured bases for it anyway. This is the bracket they first sent me for a '74 car- note the rear mounting tabs. After we figured out what I needed, they sent me the right brackets with angled tabs front and back.
  16. I have a 302 swap currently running a 650cfm 4bbl carb. Motor is 9:1 compression and has Edelbrock aluminum heads (170cc intake runner volume) with a Comp cam (262/270) The car runs fine, and I'm far from a carb pro.. but I want something more exotic. I was gonna switch to EFI, but now I'm thinking that 1) that's more work and money to overhaul the fuel system and 2) it doesn't suit the character of the car. If you've heard a V8 with quad Webers you'll know what I mean. Who has experience tuning multiple Webers? Is it really as big of a nightmare as its made to seem? I've looked through syncing instructions and that part doesn't seem so hard, just a little time consuming- but that's only the start.
  17. Increases in frequency with revs? Neutral and under load? Clutch engaged and disengaged? It might take more detail than 2 short sentences to diagnose an engine problem... just sayin.
  18. Kudos on the great job so far... I bet this really makes you appreciate the pro-level carbon fiber stuff with the weaves perfectly straight and aligned with one another.
  19. I wonder what the specs on the caliper are, if it might bolt up to the Arizona Z car wilwood rear setup I already have... hrmm.. edit: lookin at the pics, totally different heh nevermind this sure is an expensive way for me to just get a parking brake
  20. The first one sounds like a pretty cool car.. thats a serious restoration. Pretty cool.
  21. I like the R100. I don't use my car enough to worry about durability to be honest... they look and feel great to me. On the other hand, you can only expect so much for the price, so yeah. E30 sport seats are awesome. Mine is late-ish 260. Has a tunnel bulge, but different seat mounting compared to 240 and 280Z. I spoke with Sparco and their manufacturer (Planted) and they narrowed down which base I need after I sent em measurements and photos. They'll be updating their websites accordingly... apprently my car is a very narrow number of S30s that had these kinds of brackets.
  22. Figures I luck out with a bastard 260z Sparco and Planted both got back to me, good service so far. I'm gonna send dimensions to Planted and see what they can do..otherwise Sparco offered to send me some tabs to have welded on. And my guess was right, Planted build the brackets for Sparco.
  23. edit: I think Im realizing there's something different about the floor and mounting points in my car... Im looking at photos of others and none of them look like mine. The 240Z is totally different, and the photos Im seeing of 260s and 280s are also slightly different. This is just plain strange because it looks factory. Ive outlined the locations where my 'stock' sliders bolted to. The holes are all on a vertical angle..
  24. Welp, the Sparco bracket was a damn waste of money... now I gotta deal with trying to return/exchange it. The front tabs are positions and angled properly... But the 2 rear mounting pads have nothing to do with reality... Their site, selecting the 74.5-78 260/280Z displays the part number which I ordered and supposedly received, as per the label.. http://www.sparcousa.com/product/seat-base-600-series Anyone care to confirm their late 260z and 280z floors look like whats in my photos? Both the front and back 2 mounting holes in my late 260Z are angled. This bracket should've had the back holes on tabs built similarly to the front ones... bah! $140!
  25. "nothing terribly fancy" lol that's one MODEST gentleman right there... That Z is beautiful, man.. one of the nicest in the thread.
