  1. ok I have done a search without much luck, everyone know that the sbc weight about 120 lbs more than the L6 but what is the actual wieght on these motors ? need to know in weighing my options
  2. I am no expert but I believe if you simply add the 280 complete with harness the dist and alt can still be run by the 240 harness, the 280 has 2 harnesses one for the injection and the other for evereything else, as for addl goodies, you'll want the 280 fuel tank as it is fitted with a return line from the fuel rail, you'll also want the return lines themselves or buy some tubing and make your own, the fuel pump is in tank I think ? (not sure) havn't got mine apart that far yet, the wiring to use the fuel pump is already in your car under the passanger seat carpet, the jap model used an electric pump even on the early models, goodluck
  3. aw!?, c'mon guys ! there have to be people here with ford engines and working guages, how did you do it, how is it different ? speek up peeps !
  4. ok the jtr manual cover all the info on the chevy what about the ford, more specifically the speedo and ther gages ? how do you make them work ?
  5. go to autozone.com I ordered mine or you can order from a store I just did it on the computer one night think it was like $12 for the part then like $6 to ship it cause it was also quicker than ordering it from the store I figured it was worth it
  6. expense and weight are big factors this car is being built to compete in the grassroots $2003 challange I appreciate all the input but please think cheap
  7. thanks for the info makes enough sence, turbo head and complete system on a higher compression block should yield more than the 180? that the turbo's came with but how much more, as I stated I need 300whp minimum, I was thinking that combo without additional mods was only good for about 250 chp ? just trying to get a clear idea of which route is yeild the desired results with the minimum expense
  8. ok, long story short I NEED AT LEAST W/HP, was thinking v8 now considering turbo on nal28 who has the experience of how to get to that kind of hp using turbo and how'd you do it ?
  9. ok, long story short I NEED AT LEAST 300 W/HP, was thinking v8 now considering turbo on nal28 who has the experience of how to get to that kind of hp using turbo and how'd you do it ?
  10. why are these necesary ? the motor is mounted to the cross member so it gains no clearance from the x member, are they needed to clear the steering linkage ? and if so if I use a small dist can I do away with them ?
  11. I might have a line on an LT! what to look for when buying one of these as opposed to the standard SBC? what is a good price? what are the best mods to make power from these? I am planning on carbing it opinions?and I know there are a lot of opinions to be had here
  12. get the fattest front sway bar you can find, and yes you will notice the difference especially if you autocross, takes out a ton of body roll, I have no experience on the strut tower bars
  13. lol, just can't seem to get the answer I am looking for, has anyone here blasted their cars? and if so how much media did you use ?
  14. you have to buy and build a car for $2003 or less and compete in a drag race, autocross, and concourse judging, last year I built a civic but due to rain the drag race was canceled and only the autocross and concourse judging counted, this year I have a $100 280z that I am building with a v8, so I need to make this years entry look more appealing so that I can get a few more points, I think I can make the car handle well and with a v8 with modest mods I think I can run 13's pretty easily so that is why I am asking about the blasting I need to get all those nasty little corners that you can not get a sander or scraper into, that leaves media blasting, check out the "GRM" webpage and look for the link on the challange grassrootsmotorsports
  15. but how much !? the main question ther was about how much media to expect to use, I hate running out half way through a job, and the sand is for all the hard to reach areas where sanding is not an option, cowl, engine bay, interior, help me out poeple, as for the baking sode hiring out the job is not an option as this is a project for the grassroots motorsports $2003 challange for those familiar with it, I was in last year and would like to finish better than 24th this year
  16. anyone sandblast their car? I want to strip my car down as far as possible and sandblasting is the only way to get into may of the areas, obviously the main outer body can be sanded with a d/a, I was plainning on blasting eh interior engine bay, wheel wells and other tough to get to areas, my quiestion is does anyone have any idea how much media I can expect to use? I have a cheap harbor freight pressurised blaster and am planning on using aluminum oxide, any idea ?
  17. that would be me,I think, I was gonna use the complete engine and trans to get the title for my 280 before putting the 350 in it, just havn't found the time to try and get the engine going, can't find your phone number e-mail it to me if you don't mind at evildky@hotmail.com, thanks
  18. oops wrong button posted as new topic anyhow : they are NEW I was saying the type "used" on the old mag wheels, see I need a new set and they are special order but I have to buy the whole box cause the supplier will onlu sell 50 or more at a time
  19. I might be able to get a deal on a box of the mag lugs used on the early z aftermarket wheels, if so , is there a market for them, and what is a fair price? any interest ?
