    am i splicing the wire in line with the GB wire, or am i tapping the resistor into the GB wire and then give it a 12v+ source? that sounds like a great idea. personally i have not even tried to wire it up as of yet. i have removed the old harness and so fourth, but still trying to make sure i get everything wired up correctly before i install the new harness.

    have you made up a msq. file for you to get running on? because if you have would you be willing to share it? im using the same firmware and so forth.. and it would really be a big help getting this car started...
  4. ok well ive got it all assembled.. now i need a msq. file for a stock l28.. ive found the one moby made.. but i need it for msII and 2.88 firm ware version can any one help me out?
  5. this is just an idea. but would a 81 crank pulley work in this situation? i mean it already has the tone ring on there. im not sure of the amount of teeth that are on there though. possibly just use the 81 crank pulley and swap the tone ring.
  6. that sounds like a good idea. what is his name here on the board? well i ordered everything today!!! megasquirt II w/pcb3, stimulator, harness, tuning cable, iat & clt sensors. so now i have get a base map setup, and everything configured correctly. im hoping i can use the 81 cas. any tips and tricks will help!!

  8. ok so im am confused. am i able to use my 81 cas on the crank pulley and not use a 82-83 dizzy? i dont mind doing the swap. just kinda curious.
  9. well i finally got around to scrapping the parts car.. i needed it out of my drive way, i was sick of all the rust all over the ground haha
  10. thats a real inventive mounting bracket. i have often thought about using one of the m90 eaton s/c on a project. i actually have one in the garage with all the intercooler piping and such. might happen one day

  12. you could always make sure that each cylinder is at tdc, and fill each combustion chamber with compressed air, and do it that way.. the valves will never fall then. thats a really neat tool
  13. well id imagine it works in the same fashion. the 82-83 dizzy is a direct plug and play swap. im gonna go out to the garage soon, and check to make sure the injectors are pulsing. i know i have fuel pressure. and i never messed with the distributer, so the timing should be spot on. and ill check all my wiring again. im still unsure if i have the ignition harness wired up correctly, like i said i have the 81 harness, so the connector by the ecu is only a 6 pin plug verus the 82-83 harness which is a 8 pin plug. so ill have to go through that once again. ive tried to go though my wiring diagrams, but havent had much luck tracing wires. any one have a pin out of that plug?
  14. ok well ill go back to basics. i know the motor is good, i drove the parts car around the block with no brakes lol!! im using all the zxt parts, injectors, afm, ecu, i havent put in the turbo fuel pump yet, but im not sure if its going to be needed. last night i wired in my own fuel pump relay, now i get the 5second prime, and as soon as i touch the key to turn it over, the pump kicks on. still not sure on the amount of psi. i can hear the injectors pulsing.. or clicking rather. the green light comes on inside the ecu, does not seem to be there while cranking, as i stated earlier, this might be an issue. im not sure if my CAS is sending a signal to my ecu so the ecu can send a signal to the ignitor. i really believe my issue is spark related. is there a way to test the CAS. mine is a 81, so its down by the crank
  15. well i have a update for everyone. it still wont start. im starting to get really annoyed. here is what i know. 1. i have a good ignitor. 2. the green light is on inside the ecu (but isnt when cranking, might be an issue) 3. i have power to both my coil, and ignitor, and i belive my ecu is pulsing to the ignitor. so im at a loss here. i dont know what to do. or where to look. besides going megasquirt, i dont know what to do. but i do have some more pictures for everyone. and just for some giggles, my lil girl, Chloe. haha
  16. well i only plan on running 12psi tops on the stock setup, so id like to hope that the internal map sensor in the megasquirt ecu is capable of handling that.

  18. well i hate to confuse anyone, but i have no purchased anything yet lol. im still trying to wrap my head around this whole idea. im glad i didnt, because basically everyone is telling me that the relay is easier to make from scratch. and now that i think about it, my brother, is a wiring and soldering genius, so he will be assembling it for me.

  21. i thought the harness they sell basically takes the place of the relay board? or did you just cut the connector plug off and just use the wire? and another question i have is. the injectors in my car are from an 81', so they have the dropping resistors already wired in. would i keep that part of the wiring, or wire the injectors directly to the relay board.
  22. thats right, i have had it with this 30+ yr old wiring and everything associated with it! but being a complete noob i want to make sure i basically have everything ill need to do a complete and clean install. for some backround on the car. the car it self is a 80' 280zx. I have swapped in a l28et from a 81' zxt. both cars being auto. i have been having some issues with the factory ignition setup. so rather than replacing expensive components, which would cost about just as much as Mega Squirt setup. ive decided to go this route. the car and swap is 100% factory stock. but with many more mods in mind, i figgure this is my best direction to go. from what ive read, ms2 is the way to go. and also to use the ignition control. so here is a parts list i have put together from diyautotune.com, if there is something i should have or need to get, please let me know. i know i will need a wide band setup. but i will purchase that as my wallet permits. i know i will need a 82-83 zxt distributer. and that it is triggered by a hall effect type switch. i have found a very useful thread on diyautotune.com http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/how_to_megasquirt_your_280zx_turbo.htm i know there are hours of reading and searching i still need to do. but still want to make sure this is the basics of what i will be needing. thanks again.
