  1. this is just awesome. I have a 95 540i with a bad trans. ive been thinking about doing an rb swap with it. not sure on fitment though.. either that or an ls1 lol
  2. looks awesome! i was thinking about doing the same thing.. but i still have no purchased a welder.. so i guess i would need that first.
  3. id like some more info on your Electrolytic Rust Removal. what was the mix of what you used? looks like everything came out great..
  4. i want to know where that valve cover came from.. i like it
  5. awesome! now all im waiting on is i have find a 240sx TB... and I have to find the Z linkage peice from a stock TB. order some gaskets, and I should be ready to turn the key!
  6. now as for the firing order.. i think i got it right.. cly 1/6-2/5-3/4... ive made this drawing to help understand. if it is wrong please lmk! im using the ford coil pack.
  7. I agree with NismoEd. And I have yet to start the body work on my car. I got lucky and was able to find a 95% rust free car. The 5% comes from around the front windshield!! mostly just the lower cowl. Now if I could find an aftermarket peice, or a rust free original. That would definitely motivate me. I say keep it. You will have more pride in the end when its all done.
  8. sounds like you are still running the factory FI. check the AFM and make sure the flapper isnt stuck. i know that happened to me and i got alot of the same issues you are.
  9. Oh neither would I. Id never consider trying that.
  10. no offense, but that makes absolutely no sense. are you taking any kind of a ground off from the valve cover? removing it should have no effects whether or not it starts. thats just my .02 cents.
  11. Well I have already figured out the power steering issue. I used the power steering pulley off of my 80' N/A motor. both the water pump and the PS pulley have the same bolt pattern, and are also both the same exact size! Woo Hooo!! So in the same fashion, but instead of nylon, I will use some thing else, but I am going to be able to bolt both of the pulleys together and now I no longer have to relocate my PS pump.! All I have to do is get a little bit shorter belt.
  12. well I was out of sawzall blades, and really didnt want to hack it up with a cut off wheel. So I had to resort to good ol fashioned man power!! well because im using an 81' crank pulley, and we all know that the 81' was the only year to use a crank trigger rather than the 82-83 which had the sensor built into the dizzy. so those 5 mounting bolts were there to hold the original trigger wheel. Id say with the trigger wheel now gone, there would be even more clearance..
  13. First I would like to Thank Derek for taking the time to make such a great bolt on setup. It worked out great!! The thread to these parts are here http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=140644 I used the crank pulley from my 81 zxt. I soon realized that the hub adapter would not fit with the front pulley. So only using a hack saw, I cut off 1 of the 3 pulleys. It just so happens to be that it is used for my power steering. So I will have to work some thing out for that. You notice that there is a 5 bolt pattern, well those bolts come through the other side. they hold on the first pulley. Well it just so happens that any 1 of those 5 will line up with the holes on the hub adapter. So I used 4 short bolts, and 1 longer bolt to hold the adapter from spinning. Ok, now that the hub adapter is all ready to go. Lets turn our attention to the VR sensor mount. It was a bolt on part. Bolts right onto the timing cover. The only issue I had was the length of the mount. I had to use some nylon spacers to bring it out to the correct location. And here is a picture of it all finished up! I want to Thank Derek one more time for making some killer parts! **edit** I have not yet clocked the sensor to the 36-1 wheel. **edit**
  14. I came across this earlier on ebay. Kind of got me thinking if I could use this in my EDIS 6 setup. I really like the thin single follow line. any ideas anyone? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Stealth-Or-3000GT-DOHC-Coil-Pack-Ignition_W0QQitemZ330303404456QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item330303404456&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A64|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
  15. im kinda curious how this would work out..
  16. yep i was looking in the wrong place
  17. well that takes care of that. now I just got back from the local pick n pull and I could not find the EDIS6 module anywhere. I must be looking in the wrong place. where did ford hide this thing?
  18. so once you pull out the distributor, what do you use to cap the hole? ive tried searching.. but keep coming up empty handed.
  19. ok well I know its been awhile. So I have an update for everyone. I made the decision to go mega squirt, and purchased a MSII v3. along with that im going to do an EDIS ignition system. Now I just updated to the newest 2.88800 code. anyone have any experience with it yet?
  20. thats why i thought it might be possible.. maybe someone should give it a try..
