  1. Just a heads up, I have a 73 resto going on. I am not sure when it will be on the road. There are quite a few Z guys in Middle Tennessee, we just seem to be a quite bunch. I am in the Boro, and I am down for a Z club, although one already exist, http://www.middletennesseezclub.com
  2. Did you get my pm about the RB20 pans? I am glad you have had good results with Nistune. I have a 73 that will soon have a RB20 under the hood. I too purchased two RB's really cheap and I am gonna put the two together to make one good running motor. I have a HX35 for it as well. I will let you know how it goes.
  3. Did you get NisTune from me or someone else? Thanks -Andy
  4. You are looking up the wrong info, it is http://www.emotorusa.com/ They are not out of business, but they are out of stock of the S13 Coilovers. I have 5 sets on back order. I should have a set in my possession in a couple weeks. I plan on having a lower rear perch machined. I completely agree about using a nicer set of coilovers over these cheapys, but for what I want out of my suspension, they will more than work. Once I have my lower perch machined, for those of you using Apexi, Tein, MR, or any other, I will be happy to offer the same thing to anyone who can send me there front lower perch so my machinist can copy it. I do not have an idea on the price, but hopefully I will soon. Thanks, Andy
  5. I can not say for sure, but I have to buy 5 to get the price that low. Otherwise, your looking at $400 at my current price break. Prices can change at anytime. I currently have enough people to get this discount, so I just wanted to extend it the the HybridZ community.
  6. Yes, a full set of S13 coilovers. This does not include any adapters to allow for installation on the rear. I plan on having a local machine shop make an adapter for my use. If it can be reproduced at an affordable amount, I will offer it to anyone interested.
  7. Do you have any pics of the S13 coilovers that your selling? I am interested in this as I am building a 260z at the moment for track only. I however would like to see what you have in mind and what strut inserts that you would be using. I however have the late model 260z so the strut tubes are of the 280z variety and will be larger than the ones on a 240z. I am in the process at the moment and havent pulled the trigger on buying coilovers so I am exploring options.

  8. I will be buying a set of the S13 EMUSA coilovers for my self and a couple local guys. I can offer them to anyone interested for $375 shipped. Send me a pm or email if you are interested. This is a chance to save a few dollars and to deal with me, instead of an ebay vender, no offense to ebay venders. Thanks, Andy
  9. I might give him a call. Thanks for the info. About the difference in coilover body length, couldn't this be remedied by leaving more of the existing strut tube? Oh, and what are the specs on your wheels? Thanks in advance
  10. I just got off the phone with EMUSA and they will not sell just the perches. The perches that were picked up were more than likely off a damage set, of which they do not currently have. I did however mention buying two front pairs and this is something that could be done, however it would have to be a group buy to make it happen. I do not have an exact number that would be needed to make a purchased. How many people would be interested in something like this? One concern I have, is using a front coilover in the rear. Considering we are using China crap, there maybe no difference. I know the spring rate will be the same as the front, but I am considering going with a different spring anyhow. Let me know what you think, or if there is a better alternative (with a budget in mind). Thanks, -Andy
  11. Where did you get the extra front perches? I have a wholesale account with E motors and the perches are not available through them.
  12. I have been following your build for a while. You have done a great job. I love the color. I have never done paint and body. You make a great point about taking a class. I am gonna look into this in my area.
  13. Wow, looks great. Off topic, but what is the specs on you rims, i.e. offset/width? Also, hows the ride quality? Those coilovers prolly have some high spring rates. I am thinking cheap ebay coilovers and replacing the springs for a more streetable set-up. Also, where did you find the extra front lower mounts used for the rear?
  14. Subscribed..... I have really been thinking about doing the same thing. I know it is not an option for everybody, but this maybe what I need to see to help make my decision. Please post some pics! Thanks, -Andy
  15. Count me in, assuming cost is less than a set of TTT camber plates. I have been wanting to do this myself, but I do not have access to a CNC. I also found this reading on Tom Holts website: http://sth2.com/Z-car/camberplate.htm There is a mine on info there. Thanks Tom
  16. Ok, I stand corrected, but my thought process was selection. I would think tire to fit a wide 13 would be harder to find and more expensive. I have never owned a 13" rim and never done any research on them. I just know the selection for 15 and 16 is getting slimmer compared to 17 and up. In the end, the JohnC is far more knowledgeable than, I, so listen to him.
  17. Where do you find tires for 13" wheels. 15 and 16 are getting harder to find, I can not imagine trying to find a decent size for a set of 13" wheels.. You can also look on club4ag.com Not sure what your budget is, but you are going to be digging deep for real JDM. I want some so bad I can taste it and I do not have the budget to support a nice low offset.
  18. I had a thought, maybe someone could chime in and correct me if I am wrong. I know some people use 8" springs on the front, would this help with the rubbing? Less spring would equal less deflection, which then would decrease the chance for rubbing. Are there any disadvantages to using a smaller spring of the same weight?
  19. Agree, the ride height is nice. I am in the process of putting together a set of coil overs for my 73, which brings me to ask, are you only half way down on your treaded sleeves at the pictured ride height? How far are you from the bump stops at static ride height? I think you need to post up some more pics. Nice Z -Andy
  20. Jon, thanks for your input and advice. That really helps. My plan is not to put the car on the ground. I just want my Z a little lower than most Zs I see on the forum. I have not owned a Z with coil overs, so I just assume that the Zs I see here, are either set-up for correct geometry or if they go lower, the car will be on the bump stops. I want to go with shorter inserts so I can have low and still have compression. I know there is a fine line between this and scraping frame. I am thinking about going with the 300zx front inserts for the rear and the VW for the front. Jon, you also mentioned stiffer springs. I was considering 225 or 250 lbs springs. I do not wanna go much higher, since it is not suggested to go higher, with those struts. What would you suggest? I do not plan to tack this car, but I also want it to be safe. It is not my daily driver either. An input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced. -Andy
  21. I had a set exactly like those on my 240z before I started my restro. I would suggest going with a zero offset in stead of 15. I would take a pic, but I do not have them on the car. I could take a pic of the wheels.
  22. What lenght springs are those? 8" or 10" Thanks, Andy
  23. What wheels are these... feel free to if they have been covered. I am sure I can not offord them anyhow.
  24. Thank you for your help. I have read through your thread 10 times. There is great information there and part of the reason why I asked this question. I have a found a lot of info on the Napa website about strut dimensions. Which brings me to my next question. Why do people not use the SW20 89-98 MR2 inserts? Here are some specs: 240z Front Contents : 15.125" Strut Body Length : 15.125" Strut Compressed Length : 15.625" Strut Extended Length : 21.125" Strut Parts Pack # : P804 Strut Travel Length : 5.5" 240z Rear Strut Body Length : 16.875" Strut Compressed Length : 17.375" Strut Extended Length : 23" Strut Parts Pack # : P804 Strut Travel Length : 5.625" 92 MR2 Front Contents : 13.125" Strut Body Length : 13.125" Strut Compressed Length : 13.625" Strut Extended Length : 20.125" Strut Parts Pack # : P822 Strut Travel Length : 6.5" 92 MR2 Rear Strut Body Length : 14" Strut Compressed Length : 14.5" Strut Extended Length : 21.5" Strut Parts Pack # : P822 Strut Travel Length : 7" 79 VW Scirocco Contents : 12.5" Strut Body Length : 12.5" Strut Compressed Length : 13.875" Strut Extended Length : 20.125" Strut Parts Pack # : 17090011 Strut Travel Length : 6.25" I am thinking about using SW20 MR2 Rear inserts for the rear and VW Scirocco fronts for the fronts. This will make it 2.875 less in the rear and 2.625 in the front. Plus the this combination will have more travel if I am reading the dimensions correctly.
  25. I am in the process of building coil overs for my 73. I plan on having the car very low. I have purchased a set of Tokico HP 240z Fronts and MR2 rears and I am thinking the 1.5" section I will be removing is not gonna get me as low as I wanna be. Has any one tried using MR2 inserts all around. I have ordered a front insert for testing purposes, but I wanted to know if anyone else had any experience with using smaller front and rear inserts. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andy
