  2. depending on what you want the car to do a caprice is a good idea because the rear ends in those things are beefy, offroad guys like them and so do musclecar guys on a budget, if you pulled it out threw some new wheel bearings at it and maybe some new pads for the brakes and cleaned it up i wouldnt be suprised if u got a few hundred bucks for it, do your research first though because im not too sure - pete
  3. in my opinion if your going to go to all the trouble of painting your car, take your time and do the best job you can, unless its going to be a track car and your going to have other peoples tire marks on your car, save your pennies get the good stuff take your time , heck even buy some sheet metal and practice on it do a dozen layers or so. ill bepainting my Z eventually and this is the approach i plan on using, good luck to you -pete
  4. i considered it but then i thought about leaning on my fenders while changing my plugs or bumping into something and the fiberglass idea was gone, i might try learning to use an english wheel to make some fenders but thats a long ways away -pete

  10. moby id suggest cutting the pocket out an equal amount on both faces of the tube, then flipping the piece that came out upside down. try and hold it in place with a magnet or something just till you can tack it. also make sure you cut the hole large enough so that when you are trying to install the bolts they will be able to slide through the hole at an angle (learned this one the hardway) to make the little end square pieces id suggest using a square piece thats larger then the hole then tacking it in place and cutting it down to size. good luck -pete
  11. i just helped assemble a cage for a 928s .... also remember to mask off the areas whereyoull be welding sou can paint them later but before you mask dont forget to sand all the anti corrision coating on all the steal sothat the ppaint and primer will adhere -- good luck take pics when yer done!

  14. wow whata guy offering to help even IF you didnt buy it from him ...
  15. why dont u go to a hot rod shop and get a universal joint for your steering shaft diameter , then use a heim joint mounted to your frame rail to hold your steering shaft in place. dont worry about splines and stuff u can drill a small hole large enough for a bolt to slide through , through the universal and the steering shaft on either end. pick up a spare steering shaft just in case and for the extra length u will need. this is what hotrod guys do and its what i plan on doing -pete
  16. thank you , funny thing is i dont remember a carbon canister in the engine bay , i wonder if the previous owner removed it (hes a dumba$$) thank you - pete
  17. my cars been apart for about 7 months now and im just getting ready to change all the lines. i was just underneath the car and i counted 4 lines, one goes to the proportioning valve for the brakes, one is a gas feed line the other a return.. and then theres one that looks like it goes up to the middle of the rear deck... whats it do ? am i missing something ? thanks - pete

  21. im just so excited i had to post. i got a perfectly working t-5 with absolutely no shaft play and very solid shifting... and a 22 gal jaz fuel cell foam filled with the upper outer lip for mounting... all for 150 bucks oh and i found pics of my Z from the day after i crashed it. i was soo devastated i forgot i took them. anyways i thought id share let me know what u all think. what 40 mph into a lumina will do to your front end 8 months of work
  22. alright well i have a 72 240 .. i am replacing all the lines and i am trying to figure out how to do it. i crashed the car due to a brake pull to the right i did notice after the car has been sitting that the right rear cylinder leaks enough to make a wet line down the tire. i am replacing front rotors and disks but i havent decided what to use yet nor do i have the funds to do an expensive big brake kit. id like to replace every last part but im very confused as to which approach to take IE: upgrade or stock the car will have a small block chevy a cage and other fun doodads itll be a daily driver with occasional autocrossing and drag runs. id like opinions more then anything. theres almost too many paths. ive spend entire days going through the forum (12hours+) reading and im still baffled thanks for any advice you can offer -pete
