  12. i know, the only problem is, im very critical of my own work and to this point i hate everything ive done so far, its all functional but it aint pretty, i kinda just bought a mig and some steal and figured things out. maybe ill take some pics tomorrow if i finish my anti bash rocker gaurds .... i really want it back on the ground for good tomorrow. wishful thinking because im about to run out of argon for the mig.... if its not one thing its another. i will get some pics up though eventually. till then take care - pete
  13. Everything about this setup was great. i was able to source my own calipers inexpensively and ross even sent me the clips and pins, thanks ross!!! overrall this setup is beautiful. its nice to finally have some pretty new parts to bolt on to my Z too bad i cant bolt them on just yet. the fit and finish is perfect, ross was there for every part of the process, from months of bothering him with questions till after they shipped. modern motorsports has to be the tightest operation ive dealt with yet in regards to information and buying parts for my Z, i hope i didnt leave anything out now its time to go work on my car .... if your considering this setup email me and i can get you pictures of everything, or email ross he can answer more questions than i can - pete
  14. that was me that posted last, forgot to login
  15. i crashed it bent the frame and alot of sheet metal , so i bought a mig taught myself to weld, made a new frame up front, made subframe connectors and bent up new floors, for now its getting a stock chevy 350, upgraded brakes and stock suspension, i want to out it together without all the bells and whistles so that ill still have things to upgrade later on, so as not to lose interest in it
  16. your only luck is go to http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/gtr/index.html there u will find resources to mount american engines to porsche gearboxes other then that i really dont think you should even consider it, it sounds like your thinking too much about gran turismo on playstation and not too much about reality
  17. well i took a looksee, and id like to run something a little more plug and play im not yet ready to get that deeply involved in stuff, ive wasted enough time as is getthing this hunk together (my first build ever) so i might bite the bullit and spend the money , itll cost me my nice corbeaus but ill live -pete
  18. i was thinking about the megasquirt setup. ill check out the link a littl later tonight, thanks for your help
  19. i ran full beads but i alternated spots to keep from warping the sheetmetal now im building an A -frame to hold the front of the car about 5 feet in the air so as to simplify painting the undercarriage and what not
  20. hey all im putting a sbc in my 72 240 and i want to run a programmable distributorless ignition. i was looking at the electromotive hfx, because thats what my boss uses in his race cars (scca/porsche club) i want something that will work with programmable efi later (megasquirt) will the electromotive be compatable? for now im running just a carb because thats what i want to learn on. i didnt get a chance to do a thorough search because i have to get to work, thanks for any help, and if the info is there just tell me to search and i will thanks guys -pete
  21. the art morrison frame used by the fastassdatsun.com guys is just that, art!, take a look at all their pictures throughout the whole website. youll see some of the problems they had to endure, and this will help you in the long run. they are using a c4 corvette front and rear suspension (irs) both are beautiful and more then capable of handling what youd like to throw at it. i am slowly teaching myself fabrication and doing it on my Z but thats only because i know that in the future i will build another even better, heck maybe ill just cut this one up again, i wish cars were like legos. just smash it up and make another with the same parts. too bad thats fairly cost prohibitive in the real world. dont be afraid to get your hands dirty with fabrication, if you take your time and buy all the right tools you will have more then a wealth of knowledge when your task is complete. your also lucky to have one of the best forums out there to help you out and give you advice. if it wasnt for these guys i wouldnt of ever made it this far. goodluck and i want a ride when yer done
  22. i dont quite understand what your asking?, the bottom of the floors are higher and i used a smaller tube then most do but compensated with a slightly thicker steel, if this is superior or inferior ive yet to find out, i tried keeping everything as simple as possible without making compromises in strength. being a fabrication novice its hard to draw the line, but if you have any questions and/or would like some pictures shoot me an email at peej410@aol.com -pete
  23. thats one of the things that makes me love life so much, everything is constantly changing and in motion, nothing is ever the same, time to go to work though , have a good afternoon all !
