Hmm.. I wonder if my car is doing something similar. When I would fill the tank most of the way is seemed to run a lot better (Tuning the carbs helped too). When you put your ear to the gas tank filler you can hear fuel trickling in the tank. Is this normal? Sorry to thread jack, but I am wondering if this is a similar problem. Thanks, Elliot

Bringing this Back from the dead. I'm still looking for a reasonably priced set of Tokico Illuminas for my 72 240z I found a site where they are $111 for the front and $115 for the rear each, but I don't know how good the site is. http://lightningmotorsports.com/tokico/tokico_shocks_illumina_series/bz3015/i-56424.aspx Anyone heard of them? I would much rather get them from somewhere like Betamotorsports where I plan to get my springs, but I am having trouble justifying spending so much. Let me know what you guys have. Thanks, Elliot

240Z Replacement Transmission expertise wanted
Cutlass372 replied to degofedal's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
You won't have any problems swapping a 280zx 5 speed into your 240z. Driveshaft is the same, but it is going to throw off your speedometer unless you replace the differential to an R200 (speedo gear didn't fit from my 240z 4 speed, maybe you can get it to work? ). The best year cars to get it from are 81-83 N/A 280zx from what I have heard and they match well the R200 3.90 from the same car. Make sure that you reuse or replace the throw-out bearing, clutch fork, slave cylinder and shifter from the 240z. They need to stay the same even though the tranny is changing (or all from the same setup, depending on your clutch). The swap is pretty straight forward and isn't very hard. To answer your question. Yes it is a straight bolt in swap and you can keep your driveshaft stock. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Elliot Edit: I just read something that said early z cars have the differential mounted a little too far forward. "There is an issue with the angularity of the driveshaft as the later 240's were moved back to reduce the strain on the U-joints". Since you have a 73 this should not be an issue. I just wanted to clear things up because my knowledge is based on a 72. -
Hey everyone, I started to take apart my rear suspension yesterday on my 72 240z and I noticed that one of the transverse link inner bolts is missing. It's the front passenger side that I am looking for if they are different. I need one with good threads and a nice hex head and I am trying to find one as soon as possible. Let me know if you have one through here or email me at Cutlass375@yahoo.com Thanks, Elliot

I got the kit from summit racing for my 72 240z and the front went on great. I haven't gotten to the rear yet due to an accident and needing to get spindle pins. The steering coupler alone tightened the car up a ton, as did the control arm bushings. I think it makes the most sense to just get them all rather then trying to piece something together. I say just get the kit from summit unless you are planning as CrazyOctopus mentioned. The extra $5 isn't much for added safety and the ability to track your order. Also, just because you have an LS1 doesn't mean that you wont be using all of these bushings. The only thing the struts have to do with the bushings is the bump stops (unless you are going to coilovers) and the bump stops come in this kit. I am overall very happy with the kit, it really made the car tighter and more responsive. Elliot

Looks pretty good for $450, nice find. Is that the MSA or xenon airdam that you added? Is is fiberglass or the flexible urethane? I am interested to see where this car goes. Are you going to keep it white or go for a different color? Elliot -
Anyone have one? I am trying to get my car back on the road asap and I need one of these to mount my turn signals. Please let me know what you have. Thanks, Elliot
-
Hey everyone, I am looking for a MSA or Xenon type 1 ducted front airdam for my 240z. Fiberglass is preferred, but either will do. Must be in good condition with no splits or cracks. Let me know what you have and hopefully we can work something out. Thanks, Elliot

Bump, still looking for these parts. I am trying to get the car back on the road as soon as possible, so please let me know what you have. Thanks, Elliot

Hey everyone, I'm looking for these parts for my 72 240z near PA or surrounding states. Hood, bumper, grille, bumper support, headlight buckets, and turn signal lenses and housings. You can reach me on here or at Cutlass375@yahoo.com Thanks, Elliot

Thanks for the tip, If I get another Z it has to be a 240 though. Anyone have any suggestions on a nice newer car? Something still sporty and fun.

Bump.. Still haven't find what I'm looking for. Please let me know what you have.

Hey, Just got your email and I'm interested in checking it out. Come on AIM and we can talk a little more. I'll send you an email back too.

Still looking and I am willing to travel. Let me know what you have, I need a new car and I miss my 240 already . Also, white is a very big plus, I have been looking for a white one but any color will do.

Hey everyone, I'm on the hunt again because of an accident where someone jumped out infront of me . I am looking for a 70-73 240z as close to PA as possible and as clean as possible. I hate rust, so please no big holes (as least rust as possible). Mods are welcome, I will probably be modifying it anyway, so some steps in the right direction are always nice ( poly bushings, 2.8L, etc). The car must be manual and driveable prefered so I can drive it home. Let me know what you have because I AM willing to travel for the right car. Looking for something in the $1k-3K range. It is easier for me to respond by email, but send your replys to this or to Cutlass375@yahoo.com Thanks, Elliot

Got in an accident... What to do :(
Cutlass372 replied to Cutlass372's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Progressive is the company that came up with the estimate. I have liberty mutual and I guess I will be giving them a call to see what they suggest I do. As for now, I guess I'm going to look for something new. I need a car again and I'm tired of bumming rides. -

The car is done for... They want to total it and give me like $600 and then 60% of that... because they are saying I am 40% at fault... What do I do? -

Wow, nice find. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it and where did you find it? I might be on the hunt again as well because of an accident.. -

Need to fix the brakes? If that was a joke it was a very poor attempt.. Not much you can do when someone jumps out infront of you crossing your lane.. The guy simply didn't look. Try reading, then insult. Anyway.. Anyone asking for more pictures, just explore my web shots album, there are like 90 pictures of the car from the time I got it to about now. I have cleaned the car up a lot, the engine bay is very clean. If anyone is interested, feel free to make me some offers. Here is a link to more pics: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562590375hsIsRE Thanks, Elliot -

Oh yeah forgot to add. The condition of the car isn't all that great. It needs doglegs, rear 1/4 panels ( someone grafted on fiberglass ones ontop of the existing metal, so probably inners too), hatch sill, metal behind the front strut housing (right above where it mounts), and a small hole in the frame in the engine bay. It is not a perfect car by any means. This was my project. -

I dont know think anything will happen with the title. The only reason any of the insurance stuff is coming into play is because he admitted to hitting me. This car only has general liability and the least at that. This is his insurance company im dealing with, but I will be sure to ask before I sign. Thanks for the tip. -
Here are the pics: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2706209730063370706pYwjLL The front rad support is bent (not THAT bad, but it made the fan get stuck till I discovered it). Other then that.. Pass. headlight is cracked, headlight buckets, fenders, hood, grille, bumper, turn signal lense and housing, front valance, and the front wings for the hood and bumper.I took care of the insurance stuff and they are working out an estimate and if they will total it or not. Look at some of the pics on the beginning pages to see the rust areas and let me know what you think. At this point I am some what considering flying to california and driving one home.. Just looking for some opinions, let me know what you would do. Thanks, Elliot
