  1. I just started my engine for the 1st time!!! Everything was just lying wherever but It ran (3 sec). The rush What radiator do I use with the LS1? hose?, which goes where? cyrus

  3. Ok, I hooked up the tank and almost the wiring harness for the LS1. I want to see if it will start first, then I will start eliminating wires. It lookes like the radio and lights must be 30 percent of all the wires. cyrus
  4. I am using the datsun harness for the lights, horn, etc... and the camaro harness for engine, dash, and body control computer. I have removed the 240 dash and since I will not use any of the gauges from the datsun I want to remove all extra stuff. I own the 2001 shop manuals but they do not have one large wiring harness and helm does not sell it.
  5. I started on the wiring but I need: 1 2001 ss camaro wiring diagram 2 1971 datsun wiring diagram 3 lots of luck where can I get the above cyrus
  6. If you remember 70 and 71 240z had the diff foward which cause a slight angle of the half shafts. Datsun fixed this by moving the diff in 72 to stop the vibrations. If a u joint is angled it actual speeds up and slows down thru its rotation. So a simialar angle needs to be on the other end. How is pete and how do we find the engine position for a straight drive train. cyrus
  7. Ok, I am in a better mood today. I redrilled the corvette brackets to move the engine 0.600" forward and made shim under the biscuits to raise the motor, and relieved the motor bracket near the streering shaft. I need to know where the motor and trans need to be positioned to have alignmetn with the dif and drive shaft. I am using the distance between the rack and harmonic as my measuring point.

LS1 WARNINGS: 1 use a cross member may cause your engine oil pan not to clear upon installation. 2 corvette mounts hit steering 3 my pass. side head is 1 inch from the firewall, this is bad... installation is horrible..,move it forward 1/2 inch. cyrus code:
  9. Ok busted wrench this weekend, finished motor mounting and trans mount. got pics but dont know how to get from desktop to screen... help this mounting is soooo good, strong, light, and simple. cyrus
  10. I am trying to move mine all the back. 1 I have removed the heater and ac and will use the camaro stuff (maybe). 2 I do not see the fins being a problem, but electrical plugs are. 3 how far back is possible
  11. I machined my AC bracket 0.200" on the compressor side and 0.250" on the engine side. I will mount the engine this weekend using maichor's way. What radiatior are people using? Does the lower outlet hose (has thermostat), go to the bottom the raditator? cyrus

This has turned in to LS1 swap centeral I am going to do maichor mounting with a cross member: 1 my ac hits the frame, can the bracket be milled? 2 will the vette motor mounts interfer with accessories 3 with a T56 where do i have to bash the tunnel thanks cyrus
  13. maichor, good pics. Did you cut the oringinal z engine mounting towers? If my steering shaft clears the cast iron exhaust manifold and motor mount it will be a mircle. Where did you get the headers? cyrus

  16. I looked at mine last night... alt may be close to the frame but is nowhere near tower. It is like 4 inches away.
  17. What does the stock altenator hit, the crossmember,tower, steering? My engine is in but not bolted and has no ac or altenator. cyrus
  18. hi, 1. I plan to angle mill the exhaust manifolds so they go in some more (mine are cast iron. Also o2 sensor in way . 2. where do you get the small altenator and how do you mount it 3. Do LS1 truck engines have high mounting brackets... that would be cool... 4 how far back is ideal engine placement (T56) cyrus
  19. !!! OK. just started the 2001 LS1 swap into the 71 z. Bustin' wrenches now!!! 1 I pulled the old engine and tranny any takers? 2 I set the engine and t56 in car and... 3 exhaust manfolds hit like crazy.. 3/4" on passenger 4 steering may hit engine does not want to got back very far (tunnel)? 5 ac and alt may hit? I removed them but I want them. Guys we got to stick together, cause the project is HUGE! thanks for help and encouragement and anwsers cyrus
  20. Why are ford so easy and chevy so hard? Is there enough material to redrill 240 hubs? cyrus
  21. I plan on using the factory fuel lines, But i have not figured if rubber connectors will hold 40 psi.
  22. For a 71 240z 1. I need info on huge aftermarket brakes to use with a LS1 engine on the track. I can use 16" or 17" wheels. 2. I want to know how to convert to chevy five lug spindles. please include who and how much $$$ thanks cyrus

    LSD 300zx info

    I heard that LSD r200 were in 87 to 89 300zx. I called around and a nissan salvage yard had a 87 and a 89 300zx, both were turbo and automatic, he said nethier were lsd. And he thought SS models had viscous? What gives??? need info thanks cyrus
