YUP! At least that's what I got. When I opened up the MSA box I compared it with my Summit catalog and thought, Crap! But I still hoped that maybe this was some sort of "special" guage that was designed to work with my Z. But I soon realized what you just said. I could've got the same one from Summit or Jeg's for less. Not to mention at this point I had installed it so NO RETURN! Oh well, lesson learned!
As for the part number. I'm assuming you want the 2 5/8" Ultra-Lite since that's what MSA sells. It's been a while since I bought mine and I know the box is long gone. The only way to check is the back of the guage and my cars is locked up 50 miles away right now. I'm pretty sure is was #4415. I do know it is the one designed for old Ford sending units. Not the Chevy ones ( which is exactly the opposite of the Z ). Here's a link. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=ATM%2D4415
If you do order make sure it's the one for the old Ford. I searched their site but couldn't verify that info. ALSO, this guage will get your fuel level CLOSE but not EXACT. Pete P. has a good write up on how to calibrate this guage ( I believe it was this guage ) even closer to actual value.

I ordered that same unit from MSA. They also told me it was the right one for Zcars. But Auto meter doesn't even make one for Nissan, I thought. Well I learned the hard way. When I got it, the calibration wasn't exactly right......hhhmm. I called Auto meter again and Summit racing to do more research ( which I should have done before ordering, but I thought " these guys are Z pros...HA! ) Anyways, the early ford model is the one closest to the Z car sending specs, and even with that one you're going to have to modify it if you want it DEAD-ON. It's close enough for me, I still haven't got around to calibrating it after two years. The MSA one was way off.

These are the two 0.5 inch spacers, correct? I just want to be sure because I'm going to be making a set of plates soon and not needing these will save me some work! 8)

Hey sparky, Something that works faster IMO is just drive onto two bricks or small 2x4 blocks. It gives me just enough clearance to put a floor jack under the car. And it seems faster that alternating scissor jacks. 8)

Thanks Owen. I think I'm going to try to mount my actuators vertically. My driver's side lock actually locks itself when the door is closed. Sort of an "auto lock" system but it's not supposed to do that and one of these days I'm afraid my keys will be locked inside the car. This install should solve that problem. I'll be sure to get some pics to share too!

Hmmm. So what's the final verdict for use on a 240z? I would like a set of pillar pods but which ones do you need to modify? Miata? 300zx? 240sx? Who actually has a set on an early Z? This thread has got me wanting one!

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll get an grinder and maybe a small drill press. I know I'll use those again. Whatever else I might need I'll try to borrow from friends. I see how the tranny mount can be a bit tricky. It's worth a shot I guess. I can get probably score some steel for really cheap. Worse case like luiem said is just to caugh up the $55 for that piece. Everything else seems pretty straight forward. Thanks for the help.

Anyone have any info. Tim240z, thanks for the help offline. I still haven't found my Chilton's book but when I find it I'm sure it will be easier. I the mean time does anyone know what wires (colors) need to be connected?

Thanks! That sounds easy enough! I do need a new grinder ( old craftsman finally took a crap!) I've got a drill but not a drill press. This sounds too easy! Thanks 8)

What tools did everyone use in making their own JTR mounts? I was going to buy them but if I make them myself that will give me a pretty good excuse to go out and buy new tools. I have a limited supply of tools ( basic hand tools, jack, stands, basic power tools, etc) but I would be willing to spend the $250 the JTR kit towards new stuff. The parts seem pretty basic ion the manual and I think I could make them with the right equipment.

Has anyone installed power door lock actuators on their 240z? Where would you mount the anctautor? Verticaly or horizontal? I have the actuators and relay that will plug into my Viper alarm. If anyone has pics of their install that would be sweet! 8)
I've seen inside the door panels and it looks like it's going to be a tight fit but I'm sure it's possible. Thanks in advance!

BigPhil, I think the project looks sweet! Looks like you've put in a lot off work, from the stereo to the body mods. I especially like the Kenisis wheels and the gas door.
Q: How did you get the gas door flush? And were you able to find a gas cap that fits behind it

with the 2 5/8" guages I removed the plastic bezels from the stock guages and used them with the autometers. I repainted them black, sealed them to the dash, and then mounted the autometers behind them nice and tight. It made a very nice fit and there was no extra charge for the pieces.

HOw did you wire up the starter button? I'm trying to install a pushbutton on my 240Z and I'm interested in how to wire it up. Thanks.

It depends on who's buying and how they're paying. If someone is getting a loan to buy it, they're going to want a copy of the title before they fork over the cash. Also your lein holder will want to see the cash before they fork over the title. In that case, you're probably going to have to make a trip to a bank or CU with the buyer. If it's just a private party with cash you can usually just write up a bill of sale and give it to them along with the keys. Then you will have to pay off the truck and the lein holder will mail the buyer the paperwork. You should probably check with your lein holder just to be sure, plus you'll probably want to know your payoff $ amount before the sale. And with interest this amount can change rapidly.
