OK this is not Z related but I'm hoping someone here can help me out anyways:
I have an 03 Ford Ranger (...I lknow, I know...) Recently the serp belt made a slight squeak in the mornings, probably from dew, and the noise would go away within a couple of minutes of driving. I should have just left it alone, since it seemed to go away on it's own, once the dew dried or whatever.
So I thought it might be a good idea to spray some belt dressing on the belt to stop the initial squeak in the mornings. Boy was I wrong!!! The squeak is now constant and about 100x worse than before. The bottle of belt dressing said it was good for "all types of belts" including serpentine. So I've been trying everything to try and stop this head turning squeak that I have caused. I'm close to just putting a new belt on but the old one is fine, except for the loud squeal.
I even tried putting some bar soap on the belt. This makes it nice and quiet for about 5-10 miles and then the squeal comes right back. At least this teels me it's probably not one of the pulleys. I have a new belt in hand but I'm looking for maybe an alternative. I'm also afraid that if I just change the belt, the squeal may still come back.
Any suggestions,.....?
Thanks

Hey, sorry I'm in the same boat as Mark, still in the works. My car won't be on the road until sometime next year (hopefully) but the finish on the dash doesn't seem like it would glare much in the sun. I have held it in sunlight and I think it will be OK as is from PDK. It would also be very easy to scuff lightly and paint if you desire to.
That reminds me, I need to weld up some mounts.................!
It says 30 pound savings. Only weighs 7 poundsI believe this may be in ref. to dash for dash weights. If that is true then you will also be able to drop a few more pounds when you lose the HVAC and stereo systems if you decide to go that route. Also, my Autometer Ultra-Lite guages are alot lighter than the stockers.

I have one of those for my 240z. Fit and finish was very nice. I also have PDK's rear strut brace. I spoke with Marc from PDK and he was a real nice guy, answered all of my questions, great customer service! Fit and finish on the dash was good. You will need to fab mounts for the dash. Also, keep in mind this is intended as a "racing" piece. You will need all new guages and the heater controls are (to me anyways) not worth the trouble to retro fit into the new dash. I plan on adding guages and maybe some simple switches instead. Marc sent me a few pics of some installs they did in house. Send them an email and I'm sure they will call or write back and answer any questions you might have. The $100 off special they have right now sounds nice too!

Thanks for not forgetting about me Jon. I'll be waiting patiently I can also pm you my phone number....whatever is easier for your bro-in-law. Thanks!

The size sounds good but 1/2" plate for a top sounds too thick IMO. You could probablt get away with 1/4 or maybe even 1/8 with a brace. If you have 1/2 laying around by all means use it, but if you plan on buying a new plate get some price quotes. Prices jump up pretty fast with the thicker stuff, at least that was my experience when I built a cart.
On mine I used 1/8 plate with 1.25 angle for the legs. It's pretty sturdy. I also have a 2x3 ft cart with casters that I can lu around pretty much anywhere. If you're making a staionary bench with 1/4 or thicker plate you can also use pipe for legs. I would also recommend checking out any scrap yards for materials. Prices are high for new stuff, especially for a bench that will probably see some abUSE.

Hey Mike. Sorry I can't answer most of your questions but as soon as I figure out which flair is which (LF,RF,RR,LR) I will take some measurements. BTW I got the MSA CF Z flairs.
They look wider than I expected. The one I measured is about 2.5 inches wide when laying on a flat surface, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to go on the front or rear....
Also, what size hardware did you use for the flairs on your green Z?

That looks cool! But get to work on the REAL Z already. We're all anxious to hear about the LS2Z !!!!!

LMK when you guys are ready to sell a D fender and rear hatch. I'm only 35 min from the original seller so we wouldn't have to worry about shipping....? Thanks!
-
Just curious but what is he asking for a fender? I really need a driver's side one.

A bit off topic...
Ron, did you sell your Z? I met you a few years ago at a gathering at the Krispy Kreme in Ant/Pitt. I could have swore I saw your Z for sale on craigslist a few month's back....One of the cleanist Zs around. It's nice to see you back on the board!

Nice pics! The acceptance speech wasn't bad either. I did something very similar to your upper brace. Do you get any rubbing between the Upper brace bar and the diff cover?

Paint the lighter color, back tape, paint the darker color, then clear coat. The clear coats will 'hide' or smooth out the ridge created by the tape line....
I agree! Also, a nice "pinstripe" or other design at the two tone border will help hide any imperfections as well. Doing ALL of this under the clear looks great.

This is now the second WHORE orange I've seen. What's this world coming to?

I guess I was lucky. Mine came off with a stiff gasket scraper and some elbow grease.
-
You should be just fine as long as you have the matching tie rod ends....I believe the ends are stamped with and "L" or "R" to help ID them.
-
FWIW on all the early Z I've seen the racks have been Driver's side= LH thread and Pass side= RH thread.

Last time I talked to someone from MSA they told me they have a supply of these "euro" Nissan bumpers. That was about six months ago, but he said there is a Nissan plant in Canada that is manufaccturing them along with the 432z grilles too. I've also seen them listed in both MSA and VB's catalogs.

Good find! I highly recommend gloves when disassembling the CV joints!!!

The project sounds great! For issues with the LS1 I would give LS1tech.com a try.
Here's a search there using " fuel pressure " :

I've seen this same topic discussed there a few times. Hope this helps.

You could try sending a pm to turbomeister. I believe Fred's front bumper is from a Honda S2000. I'm sure alot of fab was involved and I also believe his hood opens from the front, instead of the "normal" way.

If anyone here has an original DVD, I'd be happy to make a few DVD copies!

Does any one know of a snap-of hub (Quick release) that will fit a steering wheel with the MOMO bolt pattern?(Different bolt pattern than Grant)
I'm pretty sure you can use the Sparco quick release with a MOMO wheel, but please verify this for yourself before dropping 3 bills!

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.
Now if I could just figure out how to get the new one on there...? I guess neither Haynes or Chilton makes a manual for this truck and I'm not going to spend a ton for a FSM. Why is this so difficult!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
